About Marcel

I work as a tutor and mentor in many of those fields for years. It was and is a side business, but I always enjoyed teaching.
I am looking forward to move on with you and / or your kids.
Have a great day,
Marcel

Update 02/10/15: Takelessons is a great way to teach and a fantastic and easy way to learn for students. I currently have 3 students per week, with several hours. I really enjoy it, either online via Skype or Facetime or Live at the students place. Hit me up and let's move something together.

I learned a lot from Marcel and liked his vision of how to redo the garden. The original garden was cluttered with overlapping plants and we discussed how to improve it. He pulled out his iPad and made several garden sketches that were helpful. The original garden was cluttered with overlapping plants and we decided to remove several of them and re-"orchestrate" the remaining ones. (We only bought new plants if they were needed to realize the new garden vision.) He is also a very hard worker, helping me (physically) transplant and add plants as required. For example, we transplanted a 100+ (?) pound Sago palm across the front yard. I would never have done that on my own (too heavy for me) but together we did it! Highly recommended. Bill

Excellent teacher. We took a 20'x2' section of "dirt" in the back, redid the soil, transplanted a rose in that section, added two other new roses and a bunch of ground cover. Looks great! Recommended.

I did not actually take any lessons with him, but his schedule did not reflect what showed as available in Takelessons. He had a very bad attitude and would not actually schedule the lesson after several exchanges.

About Richard

My goal is to help students ENJOY the piano by finding ways to make it easier and doable. I have a very useful approach in helping students become self sufficient to sight read very well, to see patterns, understand music theory to either help them play well, or to even create their own music(I compose a lot of great music as well)

I couldn't sight read very well until I was 16, but I had a great sight reading teacher that showed me how to develop it, and now I can say that I'm one of the best sight readers out there that I know. I was a ballet pianist at Brigham Young University for several years where all I did was sightread binders full of ballet/classical music. I play for choirs, church congregations, jazz bands, or musical jam sessions all the time, and I couldn't do that at all if I didn't learn how to sight read well.

I would love to help you learn the piano, and I will do my best to make learning as effective as possible. I especially enjoy teaching those who quit and would like to try again, because I know what that is like.

Concerning my musical background, I've played, arranged, and composed piano for choirs, bands, jazz combos, singers. I've been in bands all my life, and have composed for jazz bands, choirs, and orchestras at BYU and in Eastern Europe. I also play about 10 different instruments. I won two Student Emmys in Hollywood for my compositions to BYU's animations in 2010 & 2014.

I am currently writing music for video games.

About Giuliana

Ciao a tutti! Hi to everyone! At my previous school in CA, teachers and students dubbed my classes "la fiesta" . Fun and serious learning happened by incorporating a variety of pedagogical approaches . In addition to singing, dancing, dramatic play, the curriculum also incorporated guided books, writing , reading and puzzles from a wealth of resources. MA from Middlebury College and Universita' Di Firenze in Italian Art and Literature. Completed doctorate classes at NYU. Teaches children thorough adults and beginning through intermediate classes! A presto!

Giuliana is a wonderful teacher and guide for Italian language and culture. I really enjoyed our small class and she managed our different levels of experience very gracefully. We all learned a great deal over the course of a year together and we miss her immensely!

Giuliana is the most patient and encouraging teacher that I have yet encountered. She truly strives to make Italian entertaining as well as simple. Prior to my lessons with her, learning a whole new language seemed to be a daunting task, as well as the seemingly insurmountable goal of losing my native accent while speaking. Through our online lessons, she has taught me grammar and a vast vocabulary that served me very well in my trip to Italy. If there is one teacher who can truly teach the language quickly and easily, it's Giuliana.

About Eric

I was born and raised in the Loire Valley of France (the "Valley of the Kings"), where the purest form of French is spoken. I have a passion for the French language as well as for teaching.

To keep lessons interesting and fun, I always connect real-life situations to what you are learning, so the information sticks and is easily recalled.

Throughout my teaching career I have taught more than 500 students in France, the UK, and the USA. I have lived in Florida for the past 10 years.

I am an avid writer, enjoying the metaphorical nature of French, and I have an extensive background in French literature.

Contrary to what you may have been told by other teachers, the accent learned in Paris is harsh and jarring to most people, much like the New York City accent sounds crude to most Americans. But, having also lived in Paris for 22

years, I can teach that accent, too, if that is what you prefer.

In my numerous years of teaching French I have brought many students to complete fluency using the unique, proprietary teaching method I developed. All along your learning process I will give you key points to focus on that, when implemented, I guarantee will bring you to fluency.

I teach a full range of students: from complete beginners, to people preparing for travel, to American high school French teachers wanting to enhance their understanding of the language, to university professors needing assistance in book translations.

To keep lessons interesting and fun, I always connect real-life situations to what you are learning, so the information sticks and is easily recalled.

My ultimate reward will be seeing you progress in your understanding of French and your confidence in speaking it. Let's begin your journey now!

Finding a good French teacher is hard. I’ve had many over the years. Olivier is completely bilingual and brings a breadth of knowledge, patience, engagement, and personalization to his teaching that makes him, hands down, the best tutor I’ve ever had. Don’t be intimidated by his qualifications—he is extremely personable. If you take learning French seriously, you want Olivier.

Olivier has been tutoring me for the past year. He is always very clear in his explanations and very patient. Olivier is also knowledgeable about the French culture. I walk out of every lesson with more confidence about my French and the progress that I'm making. Definitely a 5-star tutor. I highly recommend Olivier as a French tutor.

About Duvan

I’ve been to Germany in the past on a school trip and was really immersed in the culture. I plan to go again soon for a semester after I transfer to a UC so that I can keep speaking German. Music is also something really important to me, so I have a ton of Spotify playlists of Deutschrap. German is my passion, so I’m majoring in that to see how far I can go with this language. I also speak Vietnamese, but it’s not as good as my German. In he future, I plan to learn Spanish, Japanese, Italian, French, and Xhosa, so I’ll hopefully be a polyglot. It’ll be cool knowing a bunch of different languages.

"Jackie is a nice person and a wonderful teacher. And enjoyed my first English lesson with her."
Keenan
"I cannot recommend Zach highly enough. He's extremely positive, encouraging and fun in his lessons. I started learning French with almost zero knowledge o
f the language. After only a few weeks, I already felt comfortable expressing myself in basic French conversation. He challenged me to stretch my abilities as a student and helped me create my own system(s) for understanding the structure of speaking - this philosophy helped me build a foundation that is self-sufficient, a basic understanding of how the language works so that I can experiment, speak, learn, grow beyond what we learn in class. If you're looking for a teacher that is fun to learn with and someone who will challenge you to truly learn the nuances of the language, Zach is your teacher. I still have much to learn, but I have full confidence in Zach as an instructor."
