As a new student, there is nothing better than learning to make music. There isn't a better instrument to learn on because it is inexpensive, portable and honestly so much fun!

Believe it or not, you can make a great deal of progress with a little bit of time each day. Once I decided to pick it up as regularly as I could, even if it was literally only 5 minutes, it was clear I was on the right path.

I started when I was 50 having never played an instrument before which has helped me teach others understanding all of the challenges of learning to play.

Sharing the ukulele with my friends and family helped me realize how much I wanted to share it with others. What could be better than sharing the joy of making music?

Teaching all styles of uke, Francesca is equally comfortable on a soprano as a tenor.

I teach all the way to the Intermediate level and have a good understanding of the primary chords and scales of the Ukulele.

With my broad performance and compositional background in folk, classical, jazz, rock, bluegrass, soul, blues, and musical theater, I offer students a wide musical perspective and tailor lessons to match student interests. I work with students on music of their choosing to improve technique and develop an understanding of music theory, improvisation, and composition.

I believe that learning music should be as fun and inspiring as it can be to play, and the Ukulele is a great first instrument for people interested in learning to play any stringed instrument.
Its small size makes it easier for little fingers to handle, and the low-tension nylon strings are more comfortable for beginners to press against the fretboard. Plus, it's portable, so you can take it just about anywhere!

We all have a vast wellspring of creative energy within us, and the goal of the relationship between the student and the teacher is to help nurture and develop that latent talent. For this reason, my approach to teaching music is highly individualized. I start out with the premise that the student has unique gifts and my job is to help them discover what those are, and develop and refine them in order to make beautiful and deeply satisfying music, through whatever instrument and in whatever style they are drawn towards.

Experienced music teacher with nearly 10 years experience teaching students of all ages and abilities from beginner to advanced. I also have experience teaching music to students with special needs, including autism and total vision impairment. I begin accepting students for guitar at age 4 and teach students up to age 99+. The ukulele is a great instrument for any age, but especially good for very young students or folks with smaller hands that find guitar too challenging to handle. With lessons from me, you'll learn to read music and understand tab, develop your ear for hearing music (ear training), music theory, and technique with a goal of getting you playing your favorite style of music in the quickest time possible. I can teach you to play whatever style you wish. I can even help you learn to compose your own music!
