As a player and teacher I specialize in metal, rock, free improvisation, and classical but am also highly proficient in jazz, blues, funk, folk and more. I develop each curriculum based on the student's musical interests. We closely study the technique and theory behind songs and artists of the student's choosing. I encourage interdisciplinary courses of study that touch on many different subjects, including music theory and composition/songwriting, but ultimately the student's goals and interests guide my lessons. Specific topics I've covered with students in the past includes transcribing advanced jazz solos (Coltrane, Mingus, McLaughlin, etc), Bob Dylan strumming patterns, learning Megadeth guitar solos, developing arrangements for raw compositional ideas and death and thrash metal technique (Slayer, Suffocation, Death, etc).

About Dylan
I have a BA in Music from NYU and have been teaching private guitar lessons since graduating in 2009. I am able to cover many topics, including rock, metal, jazz, classical, improvisation, transcription, composition, general dexterity and more. My lessons are interdisciplinary, designed to improve musical comprehension, creative wherewithal, and confidence. Let's build something together.

In 2008 I helped to found the experimental metal band PYRRHON. Our recently released third album, What Passes For Survival, received widespread critical acclaim, landing on Best of 2017 lists for Rolling Stone, Decibel, Quietus and several other noteable publications. We have extensive international touring experience and have worked with several renowned metal labels, including Willowtip and Relapse Records.

Outside of PYRRHON, I compose solo guit
ar pieces, improvise avidly, and independently study classical guitar. I also have 2 in-the-works musical projects that span the breadth of my musical vocabulary. Initial recordings for both projects will surface by late 2018.

Dylan does an excellent job of helping his students achieve their specific goals. When I started taking lessons with him I was only able to play basic rock rhythm guitar. We've moved onto lead playing and more advanced music theory. I can play solos by Tony iommi and frank zappa fluidly now.

Peter is an excellent one-on-one teacher for Italian. Based on his background, I'm not surprised to find him very knowledgable about the language as it is currently spoken. In our sessions, he often explains the nuances of words and phrases based on usage, is careful to guide correct pronunciation and adds in multiple phrases of common speech. He has assembled a workbook that is well-organized and clear; we have progressed through it week by week and it has a nice feel of building a usable knowledge of key verbs, words and phrases. Peter is great at teaching and sharing what he knows, and on top of all of this he is flexible to the student's pace, needs and interests. We paused in our progress through the workbook to focus on specific topics like directions, clothing, colors, food, the urban setting, etc. Weekly he sends me sentences via a Google doc and I work and them and send my translations into Italian back--works great! I am excited to have Peter as my teacher and I think you will be, too. I plan on working with him through the course and beyond. Grazie mille, Peter!

Hello!,

Our lessons will be relaxed and fun. I take pride in tailoring my curriculum to the needs and goals of each individual student- This helps me make sure that you are learning at a pace that feels comfortable for you, yet challenging.

We will work together to develop both your musicianship and creativity. I am a firm believer in music being a healing and mind-opening practice. One of my primary goals while teaching is to give my students an outlet to express themselves in a healthy and meaningful way. Let's get started!

Topics we can focus on together:
- Theory
- Improvisation (rock solos!)
- Strumming/finger-picking patterns
- How to sing and play at the same time
- Songwriting/Recording techniques
- Lyric Writing
- Stage Presence
- Exploring different musical genres

About Dayna
Hello!,

My classical training began at age 10, when I started to play the viola. From there, I was able to translate my musical skills to violin, guitar, piano, voice, composition, and songwriting.

Originally a biology major at SUNY Purchase College, I quickly became restless knowing that I was unable to focus on music enough. So, I switched it up, followed my passion, and began studying music theory and production. Since then, my life has been focused on teaching, performing, writing, and recording music- and I wouldn't have it any other way!
It's been quite a journey, and I can't wait to share all that I've learned along the way with you.

Whether you are just starting out, or are looking to further the knowledge you already have, I will meet you at where you are, and help you to achieve your personal goals.

Together we can work o
n technique, theory, improvisation, ear-training, songwriting, and more!

I teach all genres of guitar ranging from rock, pop, alternative, jazz, acoustic, and acoustic finger style. I have 12 years of extensive study in guitar, music theory, with a focus in jazz guitar. I have performed in several different bands including lead guitarist for 4 consecutive years in high school jazz band. I am able to teach whatever students desire to learn. Every lesson is recorded on audio and given to the student for future reference and record. I'm excited to be accepting new students and can't wait to meet you!

About Nathan
I am a 23 year old musician. I have studied guitar for 12 years. 8 of those years were spent studying under the instruction of Mike Smith who graduated from the U of U in jazz guitar. 1 year was also spent studying specifically jazz guitar under the instruction of Ben Mathews, an adjunct professor at Utah State University. I have also played in several bands and enjoy writing my own music on a daily basis.

I have played all genres and style of guitar, but specialize in acoustic finger style (such as the music played by Tommy Emmanuel), as well as jazz guitar. I love rock, pop, alternative, and jazz. These are the genres I spend the most time with.

Most of all I have a passion for playing, performing, and writing music for guitar. I love every moment I get to be able to play with other people and share the knowledge and experience I
have gained playing and performing for others.

Along with guitar I have played piano since the age of 7, joined the orchestra at age 12 playing the bass, moved on to clarinet and tenor saxophone, and played as the lead jazz guitarist in the high school jazz band for 4 years. I am also formally trained in music theory. Having studied under individual instructors for over half my life I have a firm grasp of the necessary steps and skills needed to progress as a guitarist and musician. All lessons are recorded and shared with the student to keep for future use and practicing.
