I've been teaching beginner to intermediate cello for 1 year. I played cello for 2 years in High School orchestra.

About Olivia
I love to create. The way I'm most comfortable creating is through writing; whether it's a song, a short story, a poem or a script. Writing has always been the bass line in my life; the heartbeat.

Music and film are both passions of mine. I graduated from Berklee College of Music where I studied Songwriting and Music Therapy. I was pushed to my absolute limits lyrically and musically within these majors, and I am so grateful for it now that I'm on my own creative journey.

I have a great deal of experience, but I am also still learning. I think it is very important as a teacher to always be learning, especially through their students. Teaching these lessons is, of course, about progress and advancement - but also about enjoyment, confidence building and positive encouragement.

Rob is very knowledgable with regard to the cello--he and my 16 year old son hit it off immediately! He asked my son what he wanted to work on and then they spent the next 45 minutes working on those things. After the lesson, we worked out a continuing schedule of classes for the next few months. We are very happy with Rob as a tutor for my son and equally happy with TakeLessons!

After graduating from the Juilliard School of Music I played with the New Jersey Symphony for 3 years and then moved to Switzerland where I was Principal cellist with the Beil Orchestra. I have spent 30 years teaching cello with good success. I enjoying helping students getting better. I teach the rudiments of the bow arm, bow grip and how to change the direction of the bow.

About Don
I graduated from Juilliard (BA) and played 3 years with the New Jersey Symphony after which I moved to Europe where I was Principal cellist with a Swiss Orchestra ( Biel ). I teach the Leonard Rose bow arm technique. I believe he had the best bow arm in the business.

I work with the bow arm first with beginners and advanced players to get a better bow grip, bow stroke and bow change. The rudiments are important!

Aaron teaches piano to my 8 year old daughter, Abby. She is shy but loves piano and she very much looks forward to his visits! He customizes her lessons to her skill level and interests. No question he is a serious musician, but he is also laid back and funny which is perfect for young kids as it puts them at ease. Abby is thriving under Aaron's instruction, I'm so glad we found him!

In my lessons, I plan to develop a connection to my students, allow for room to grow and improve as cellists, and to elicit proper playing/performing techniques. Lessons are individualized for every student, as students aren't all equal.

About Carly
Hello, my name is Carly. I'm currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in music education at the University of Louisville. Throughout the past couple of semesters I've been learning many different methods for teaching, privately and publicly. I have a student of my own, and would love to expand my studio and take in more cellists. I've been playing cello about 10 years and love to share my passion with others. The most effective way of learning about anything is by actually doing it!

The cello is a really cool instrument and I enjoy playing and teaching it.

About Sheri
I play 18 different stringed instruments! I have been playing guitar since I was 9. I have been teaching private music lessons at a music studio since I was 18. I am a singer/songwriter/entertainer. I am very patient. I have a Masters degree in Special Education. I was in a car accident in 2008 and I was told I would never use my right hand again - and I proved the doctors and therapists wrong by using music instruments as my own form of physical therapy - you would never know by the way I play that I have had every finger in my right hand broken and I have plates and screws in my wrist. I can PLAY and TEACH - Guitar, 5-String Banjo, Dobro, Mandolin, Ukulele, Bouzouki, Violin, Viola, Cello, Tenor Banjo, Banjolin, Mountain Dulcimer, Bass, Banjolele, Autoharp, Hammer Dulcimer, Dulcimette, Banjitar. If it has strings - I can play it!

I've been playing cello for twenty years. I studied cello performance at the University of South Florida, BYU-Idaho, and BYU. I've played for school orchestras, college orchestras, semi-professional orchestras, musical theatre, opera, singer-songwriters, a metal band, and a Mariachi band.

I'll teach you how to play. We'll also do scales, theory, ear training, reading music, playing by ear, etc.

About Chris
I've been playing music for most of my life. Music is what I do full time, supporting myself, my wife, and my three children. It would be easiest to explain my musical life with a timeline:

Age 9 - piano, drums
Age 10 - cello
Age 12 - guitar, bass guitar
Age 16 - harmonica, mandolin
Age 17 - upright bass
Age 19 - ukulele
Age 21 - baroque cello
Age 22 - baroque violone
Age 24 - Banjo, Renaissance lute

I studied cello performance at three different schools (USF, BYU-Idaho, and BYU). I then switched majors, and studied commercial music at BYU. There I studied sound recording, songwriting, orchestration, film scoring, and jazz. I also played the upright bass and bass guitar with their top jazz ensemble, Synthesis.

Today, I do a mix of several different things - studio recording, performing (piano, bass and cello), arranging,
songwriting, and teaching. I've got experience in all kinds of styles - classical, rock, pop, jazz, Latin, singer-songwriter - and I'd love to pass some knowledge and skills on to you!
