I'm Ahmad a very enthusiastic musician. I started out teaching myself guitar at the age of 12. I moved to the U.S. in 2001 and studied music for 15 years receiving my B.M. and M.M in music and audio production at San Francisco State University. I then moved to Los Angeles then studied and trained with John Mayer, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, George Lynch and many others. I have performed hundreds of concerts in the U.S. as well in Europe and the Middle East with Artists such as Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Michael Angelo Batio, Ratt, Sammy Hagar, Dokken and many others. I ranked #1 in the Slash Guitar Center competition. I was in the "list of top 5 guitar players ever" according to The Examiner, also picked as one of the best guitarists of 2013 and 2014 consecutively in the Rockwell UnScene magazine, and ranked 3rd in the Steve Vai Sam Ash Best in Shred competition.

I can truly say that there is NO WAY I would have progressed this far without my lessons from Ahmad.
And of course, it's been very enjoyable as well. Both my lesson time and the time spent on my own taking what I have learned and using it.
A+ all the way.
In 6 months I've learned over two dozen chords, chord progression, strumming and playing in rhythm. I've learned my favorite songs from the Foo Fighters to Jenny Lewis. I definitely wouldn't be at this performance level without him. I've gone weeks without practicing and he would still be encouraging, adjusting his pedagogical approach so I can learn better or he would have suggestions for making my practice time more productive.
Ahmad has such enthusiasm for music and teaching and it shows in his playing (iTunes) and instruction. It's really inspiring as it's been a huge motivation for me to keep practicing to become confident enough to create my own music one day I think whether you are a beginner or more experienced, Ahmad has a good intuition of what a student needs to help them progress. The pacing for me is perfect, as I never feel like I have too little or too much to practice each week. Lessons are always light hearted but focused and educational. I'm always looking forward to the next one.

My goal as an instructor is to keep the lessons fresh, fun, interesting, and to ultimately guide the students to better teach themselves as they gain experience and familiarity with the instrument and music. Students can have their lessons catered to the music and styles they wish to pursue. Lessons are tailored to each individual student so that we can build upon their strengths and focus on lessons to improve weaker areas. Students will learn how to build dexterity, use proper technique, and be creative. Every student has different goals, some really want to learn theory and read music. Others may simply want to learn to strum a few chords. Whatever the goal, I can provide the instructions to help the student succeed!

I have been teaching guitar for more than 15 years.
Every student is unique. We all have different ways of learning and retaining information: by rote, from a printed score, by ear, etc... Each student is interviewed and consulted to gain an understanding of how they learn most effectively and to create customized private lessons on the guitar.
For classical guitar, there again are strict technical guidelines to achieve a beautiful tone and effective movement. To supplement my private instruction, I use different method of books and others for technical training and basic music theory as they relate to the guitar.

Off and on since my 20s I've fooled around with guitar lessons but never lasted very long. I am 62 now. I relayed this to David and he laid out an organized plan for systematic improvement. But he was very honest with me about the importance of good practice habits. I've been with him almost 5 months and showing progress. His enthusiasm and patience is appreciated. Thanks, Dave."

A few weeks ago the Washington Post published an article about musician Hannah Hanh and her struggles with improvisation. As a classical violinist, she hadn't had much training for spontaneity, naturally. The article points out improvisation as a technique that has fallen by the wayside for many performers these days. And it asks an interesting question: Can (and should) classical musicians learn to improvise? We've talked a lot about improvising on the guitar and drums, but where do classi …
