Learn not reading, songs, and proper finger techniques.

If you have music in school and want to get better or if you just want to start playing the saxophone.

About Paul
***My goal as a teacher***

I try to teach what the students are interested in and make it fun and interesting so that they learn the lessons and their favorite songs. Every student is different and needs to be taught in a way that makes learning easy and fun for them.

I have a passion for all people and all ages and am blessed to be able to teach from the very young, (ages 2-5 Toddlermusik lessons) to teens and adults.....all the way to senior citizens. I've had many older students all the way up to a 93 year old gentleman who is taking singing lessons and asked me to put music to his lyrics. We have recorded over 50 songs together.

***Background***

I started playing trumpet in 5th grade and knew that music was for me. I also liked playing with drums and piano also because they seemed exciting. I've competed in WSMA (Wi
sconsin School Music Assoc.) for many years which taught me a lot about performing for judges, being relaxed, and the importance of preparation.

I started playing the guitar and bass guitar when I was 13 and have never stopped practicing and performing since. I also have done a lot of writing, recording, producing, and have a Pro Tools Studio for students to use.

***College and Teaching***

I began teaching music lessons in college and enjoyed it very much. I received my B.A. in Music from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. There I was very much involved with guitar, piano, voice, trumpet, and being in bands and writing music. After receiving my B.A. I also took 3 years of Education classes at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. I write, produce, and perform my music along with performing with bands around the Midwest.

***Life in Music***

After receiving my B.A. in Music, I continued teaching and opened up my home studio. After a year and a half I had enough students that I was able to quit my factory job and teach music full time. I've been teaching, performing, and writing music ever since.

***Performing and more***

I have been on stage performing music since I was 11. In school band, marching band, competing in music competitions, and in bands touring the Midwest.

I have recorded many CDs with bands and on my own. My most ambitious project was a CD of my original music called, "Girls". I've performed my music and promoted it by being interviewed on Milwaukee radio stations along with internet music sites such as CD Baby. It is very exciting talking on live radio about my music and my passion. It is also even more exciting, and scary, playing my music live on the radio, lol.

***Instruments Taught***

I have been teaching for over 2 decades. Students take lessons for:
* guitar (electric / acoustic)
* piano
* violin
* voice
* drums
* trumpet
* saxophone
* harmonica
* music theory / ear training
* studio recording / songwriting

I also give kindermusik lessons to 2-5 year old all the way up to senior citizens 70-93. I play parties, concerts, and Nursing Home performances.

I am experienced as an online (Skype) instructor, and I have taught online lessons worldwide. I've witnessed great results from my online students (both national and international).

I hope I can help you with all of your musical goals and get you going in a positive musical direction.

My son loves his lessons, he gets really nervous prior because he always wants to get it right however, he likes the fact he’s at home and no one is watching him as he’s learning! As his parents we like that as a military family that will be moving again this is something that we can keep normal for him since it’s done online as well! Paul Neatherly is wonderful with him as well and very patient! I recommend this service and Paul to anyone looking for this type of learning!

I meet Paul about three months ago, While not a complete beginner, I had tried to teach myself thru out the years and picked up a lot of bad habits. Paul helped me to see and fix my habits. Paul is a very qualified teacher, of many instruments, drums, keyboards, guitar, and others. I'm 59 years old, Paul doesn't mind my age, doesn't treat me like I'm too old to learn new stuff. And is more than willing to see me thru complete guitar instruction. Thanks Paul...

Do you want to become a star? Then take lessons with me!

I've been playing Saxophone for 10 years now. Ranging from Funk Bands, to Big-bands, Musical Pits, Rock/Jazz/Pop Studio sessions etc.

I cannot count the amount of teachers I have had. However, I consider that my most influential teacher for saxophone to be Kevin Garren, pro·té·gé of the great Eric Marienthal. He whipped me into shape and now I can do the same for you.

About Ryan
Hello! My name is Ryan and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2008 and have loved helping my students accomplish exceptional tone, fluidity, and control of their instrument. I went to Berklee College of Music for Performance & Music Education. I'm a fun and caring person. My teaching style is simple, straightforward, and customized for each student. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

We scheduled Ryan to come to our house at a specific time to teach our 15 YO son. He did not show up and called 2 hours after the scheduled time to say he was misinformed by Take Lessons as to the time (even though we had confirmed the time at the beginning). We planned to resume the following week and again he did not show up. He did not reply to texts, his voicemail was not set up on his phone and he made no efforts to let us know that he had cancelled with us.

What a flake and a disappointment!

We just had our first lesson and it couldn't have gone better. I have an 8 year old son with pretty severe ADD and Ryan could not have been more patient and kind with him, following him from one room to the next while teaching him. It's now three hours after the lesson and he has not put the clarinet down. He has been practicing all 6 notes that Ryan taught him. 😬

I figure out exactly where you are in your technique and knowledge of music and of the instrument. Then, I start teaching from there! For me, the goal of lessons should be the goal of the student, and I do my best to honor that!

I also encourage my advanced Jr. High and High School students to audition for various honor groups throughout California such as SCSBOA, CBDA, etc. With my background in these groups, I can effectively help my students prepare for the best audition they can do.

About Eric
Hi! I'm Eric, a Saxophonist, Composer, Singer, and Teacher that was born and raised in Southern California. I've been playing the saxophone for over ten years now, writing music for as long as I can remember, and singing since I was in elementary school. I play for a variety of groups in Los Angeles, and sometimes perform in L.A. and surrounding areas at venues such as The LightHouse, Saint Rocke, Hotel Café, The Study, Avalon, The Mint, the Baked Potato, and more.

I keep my lessons fun, efficient, and applicable. I give students assignments to work on, not only so they don't forget what we talk about, but also so they can expand upon the concepts given in lessons, (which familiarizes them more with the information). I look forward to helping you unlock your potential!

I have played saxophone for 7 years, and have taught saxophone student's as a P.A.L.S. teacher at the Aspen Music Summer Festival. I enjoy teaching everything from beginning fundamentals to jazz and improvisation.

About Josh
I am an avid clarinetist, energetic performer and enthusiastic teacher. My dream career is to be a soloist like Martin Frost, to play in an orchestra, or compose and perform my music.
My passion for teaching is similar to my passion for performing, and I have experience teaching privately since 2013 and in front of large groups, as a staff member for a high school marching band.
My teaching style is all about fundamentals as I try and break down the things you need to know about playing into easy to understand fundamentals that can be applied to all future playing.

I believe in getting students playing music they love as soon as possible. I have 9 years of teaching experience, as well as a masters degree in music education from Northwestern University. In that time I have learned how to teach important technique and ear training through playing fun and engaging pieces of music in a variety of styles, from classical to jazz, funk, RnB, ska, and more. Music is a fun, practical subject, and it should be taught that way.

About Laurie
I have 10 years of teaching experience as a private teacher, a classroom music teacher, and a band director. I employ many different styles and methods while teaching, to ensure my students receive a well rounded music education, but also have fun. I love to use backing tracks, and I like to teach technique and important fundamentals through playing pieces of music in the styles my students love, while also introducing them to new styles and new pieces. I love music and what it does for the world, and I pass that love and passion on to my students. I am positive and encouraging, while still providing specific and structured feedback to students. I studied classical clarinet during my Bachelors of Music Education at the University of Illinois, taught as a high school band director, and went on to received a Master's in Music Education with
a jazz emphasis while playing jazz saxophone at Northwestern University. I have spent the last 4 years teaching at a British International School in China, and performing in orchestras, funk bands, and more around Beijing. This has given me the experience and knowledge base to teach students of all ages and backgrounds, as well as to teach many different instruments across a wide range of styles, including: clarinet, flute, saxophone, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, beginning piano, and rock bands.

Miss Bonner is a very patient and fun teacher, whose methods have boosted me from a beginner to playing college standard pieces by Mozart. She is great at playing clarinet. Classical, Jazzy; any genre you choose and Miss Bonner can teach you well. At the end of the school year, I won an award for being the best member in our school band. I could never have done it without Miss Bonner.

Ms. Bonner has been such an inspirational teacher over all the years she has taught me. She has helped me improve my clarinet techniques by pushing me to join various bands and best of all, introduced me to Jazz. Also, she is a really fun teacher, always making her lessons fun and entertaining. Without her, I wouldn't have the enthusiasm I have now for music.

What kind of music do you like? Have you tried learning music from a method book and just didn't have fun? Over the past 5 years of teaching several instruments I have developed a system of learning songs that YOU love and learn what music is about. With the songs you want to learn, we talk about articulation, intonation, and many exercises to help you become better. We can talk about reed care, instrument care as well!

About Brandon
I am a professional Saxophone, Clarinet, and Flute player. I have been composing my own music for video games and short films, and working as a mixing engineer for a couple years now, just really exploring many different aspects of music. I have a degree from Utah Valley University in Commercial Music, and spent most of that degree on the performance aspect of music.

My Saxophone students can expect some of the fun and some of the practical. We will be working on articulation, tone production, intonation, breathing, different forms of vibrato and many other aspects of control over the saxophone while learning songs that you as the student want to learn.

I have been taking piano lessons for 15 years, and turning around and teaching the techniques and abilities to my students have been really fun! We work on the fundamentals, but we
focus on learning cool songs and do things that few other instruments can do.

I have a lot of fun with music theory. I try to be practical in what students need to know, but can teach much more. I have a jazz background and can teach jazz theory, including comping and improvisation.

He's incredibly knowledgeable and skillful, and my experiences in both hiring him and learning from him have been absolutely fantastic. I would heartily recommend him!

If you want playing the saxophone to feel as natural as singing in the shower, then this is the course for you! I teach all levels of students from beginner to advanced, with a heavy focus on transcription and ear training. Everything in my curriculum is designed to make playing easy, natural and fun. Whether you want to play like Charlie Parker or learn all of the Beatles' greatest hits, we'll work together to help you make the music you've always wanted to.

About Andrew
I have been an active professional musician in the Utah Valley for the past 4 years. I came to Utah from Portland, Oregon in 2011 to study at Brigham Young University under Ray Smith, where I earned a BM in Saxophone Performance in 2018. While there, I performed as a member of the BYU Synthesis Big Band as a performer and featured soloist, sharing the stage with the likes of Gladys Knight, Peter Hollens, Konrad Herwig, Ed Calle, Corey Christianson and others. In 2016 I went with Synthesis on a tour of Eastern Europe, where the band and I performed at the Salkrastu Jazz Festival. I can be heard as a featured soloist on the tracks “Laura” and “Downtime” from the BYU Synthesis Album “Downtime” (2018). On the classical side, I was selected as a finalist three years in a row for the BYU Concerto Competition, played tenor saxophone from 2015 to
2017 in the BYU Wind Symphony, and played principal clarinet in the BYU Symphony orchestra in 2018.

In addition to my performances at BYU, I have performed and collaborated with numerous groups and artists on the Provo and Salt Lake music scenes as both a commercial and studio artist, such as my collaboration with Utah-based vocalist Emily Merrell in her performance at the 2018 Jazz Education Network Conference in Dallas, Texas. I also returned to the northwest in 2015 to take part in the Port Townsend Jazz Festival, where I studied with jazz greats such as Terrell Stafford, Steve Wilson, Bob Mintzer and others.

I am a passionate teacher and am happy to take students of all levels, over Skype or in person.

My goal when I teach a student is to help them realize their potential on the instrument. Every person is different and so I do my best to adapt to every student I get. I also take into account the interests of the student as well. Everyone has to learn basics, but how you learn those basics is important. My goal is to help every student feel accomplished on their instrument.
