Singing techniques in style of student's choosing. As a beginning level student we will start with classical techniques to give a solid foundation to your voice- in order to sing in any genre the student wishes to advance.

About Melissa
I am dedicated to helping you to feel comfortable singing, performing and even auditioning. Teaching healthy techniques to free up your voice and give you the confidence to sing what you want.

*** Lesson Details ***
I do have cats at my home studio- be aware if you are concerned with allergies!

My first priority is making the student feel comfortable, we will move only as fast as the student wants to move.

We will start by setting some goals- what the student is hoping to get out of voice lessons. I will keep your goals in mind when teaching.

Learning how to sing can be a slow process. Expect 3-6 months of studying to notice large improvements-however, the more consistently you practice, the more consistent your progress.

Students will be asked to find or purchase their own music (average of $10-$30).

I have experience performing and teaching many genres of music, including Broadway/musical theatre, jazz, opera, and modern. I will teach correct breathing, support, posture, and help find singers' individual strengths.

About Kristen
Hi! My name is Kristen and I am a 25 year old singer who loves music. I started my music career at the early age of 8 and haven't stopped singing since. Originally from Monterey, CA I grew up singing with my family. It has always been one of my favorite past times to sing with my dad. My family is one of the most important things to me, followed closely by music! Having been both an instrumentalist and vocalist, I feel it is important to not only know how to sing, but to be able to read music and understand what you are singing. After graduating with a music degree from BYU-I, I feel I have the tools to teach these and more.
Through my years as a musician, I have come to appreciate many different kinds of music ranging anywhere from Broadway to opera to Jazz, etc. I feel this gives me the ability to cater to my student's individual
goals as musicians. One of my goals as a teacher is to help you to learn to sing what you love while giving you the correct foundation to build on. Music is supposed to be fun!
I believe self confidence is extremely important as a vocalist. "Stage fright" is one of the most common things holding us back from reaching our full potential. Singing with confidence makes you feel great, and sound even better. Sometimes it is all that's missing from a potentially amazing singer. I have helped many students overcome this road block and emerge filled with confidence and self assurance.

*** Lesson Details ***
Did you know that people can hear a smile in your voice? Smiling while singing actually produces a different sound that is pleasant to the ear. I want this experience to be fun for my students. I do, however, believe self discipline is a very important aspect of music. I will encourage students to practice regularly and come prepared to learn. I will usually request that students bring a recording device so they can take home our lessons and practice. This also allows you to hear how you sound during lessons and reproduce(or improve) that at home.
During my lessons, we will cover topics ranging from technical skills, basic singing principles, ear training, sight-reading, to theoretical knowledge. We will also discuss voice maintenance. That said, I feel it's important to get out of the lessons what you want, so I don't have a set curriculum. I tailor each lesson to the student.
All in all, I am a patient, fun-loving teacher who will work hard to bring out the very best in all my students. I will neither push too hard nor be too lenient as we strive to reach the goals we have set together.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Piano and music books provided

*** Travel Equipment ***
I will provide some music for the student. I would prefer that the student have access to a piano and bring a tape recorder and notebook to each lesson.

*** Specialties ***
Although I was classically trained and studied opera in college, my younger singing experience largely involved musical theatre. I have always been told I am a natural on stage. I strive to instill that confidence into my students because confidence really is half the battle.

Kristen is an amazing singing instructor. she has worked with my son to help develop not only his vocal ranges but also help with his ability to read music. She has the distinct ability to choose good music to fit his range while still requiring him to stretch to more difficult music increasing his talent. I have defiantly seen him grow since working with her vast expertise in music and vocal knowledge.

My mission is to help students reach their fullest potential as singers and to build their confidence in the process. Lessons focus on each student as an individual and can encompass anything from vocal technique and song repertoire to audition coaching and even recording sessions to help the students with a project or to help them simply hear the subtleties in their voice more clearly as they train and grow.

Vocal Technique covered includes:

Range Building, Tone & Color, Vocal and Musical Dynamics, Diction, Releasing the Jaw, Opening Up the Sound, Body Conditioning For Singers and finally, Breath Support*

*I teach breath support in a way most teachers do not. I help students gain strong abdominal muscles and teach them how to use them to sing with more power and control. Rather than releasing the belly (as most teachers recommend) I show students how to breathe into their backs and use all three lobes of the lungs (upper, middle, lower). This allows them to keep the abs ...

About Kait
Kait K. has been teaching singers of all ages and abilities since 1997. She has taught in public schools, colleges and universities and privately in San Diego & Los Angeles, CA and Salt Lake City, UT. She has owned and operated The Performer Studio (a production company for high quality vocal productions) since 1997 and is the director of Salt Lake Singers Academy.

As a teacher, Kait's focus with each student is to help them understand both the anatomy and health of their vocal instrument and to help them tap into their very best sound in an engaging and fun way.

Kait: "Every singer has stumbling blocks. It is my passion to help them identify those, understand them and then...shatter them. Singers are complex people with complex instruments, and no matter what our expertise level, the DESIRE to sing is something to be protected an
d nurtured. I value honesty, discipline and detail work in the singing studio. I find those three things, meshed always with a genuine sense of FUN, are the keys to helping singers unlock and develop what makes them unique artists with something to say."

Professionally as a singer, Kait has headlined her own blues band, sung in several cover bands and also performed as a featured lead vocalist alongside John Lee Hooker Jr. (Blues Grammy artist nominee) on his western tour of the U.S. Kait was the lead singer and co-songwriter for the band Light Vizion and co-produced the band's debut album "Looking For An Angel" and can be heard as the solo vocalist on the album "True North" by Tristan Moore. She is currently a freelance vocalist in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has sung lead and solo in a large variety of venues, including Capitol Theatre, Abravanel Hall, Rose Wagner (Jeanne Wagner Stage) and several local clubs and restaurants as well as festivals and outdoor concerts including the annual Scarecrow Festival and the Brown Bag Concert Series and Furry Fiesta Fundraiser! While in Los Angeles, Kait performed in numerous clubs and blues music venues, including The Brown Derby, The Blue Cafe and BB Kings in Hollywood. She has also worked as a professional singer for several years in the Los Angeles Music Industry where she performed in several bands and worked as an in demand "session" singer (someone people hire to come in and quickly record vocals for various professional and experimental projects).

Kait's education as a singing performer includes a B.F.A. from the Actor Training Program at the University of Utah, an M.F.A. in Musical Theatre Performance from San Diego State University plus 5 years post-grad study in Los Angeles training in voice with world master voice teacher, Edward Sayegh.

In 2004 Kait returned to her roots in Salt Lake City, UT to continue both her singing and teaching career. She continues to write, arrange and record as a freelance singer, and has appeared as the featured vocalist with groups like Children's Dance Theatre and Ririe-Woodbury as well as other local blues and rock bands.

Kait: "My goal with each student is to help them to become the very best they can be as singing performers. But in addition, I aim to lift their spirit during the time they spend here, so that when they leave for the day, after the work they've done, they feel better, more inspired, more empowered and more confident and driven than they did when they arrived at my door. Teaching and watching my students evolve as both artists and people is thrilling! I have the honor of watching them find themselves through music while they build truly lifelong friendships with the performing peers they meet in the classes and performances they participate in here...they end up finding some of their 'kindred spirits' in life here, and that is something that is priceless as an artist."

My voice has significantly improved after lessons with Hannah. My tone and pitch have also improved dramatically. If you are interested in writing songs, Hannah is also a great teacher for that. I have written many songs since taking lessons from her. You don't even have to leave your home because Hannah can teach skype lessons. Many people don't like Skype lessons because they seem impersonal. I recommend trying a free lesson. You will see that Hannah makes it seem like she's there in person. I live in the country so this has been very convenient. I love her teaching style. She has empowered me to create many beautiful songs. She is very well qualified and knows what she's talking about.

In our lessons, we work hard and have a great time. I'll treat you gently and pull the best out of you! And I'll help you find and use your full voice. It feels really good, promise!

We'll spend half the time learning proven techniques of sound production and healthy singing. The other half we will spend in working on songs, honing musicianship, and acting.

We'll have recitals twice a year, where you'll get the chance to show off all you've learned and accomplished!

About Kristin
Hi, I'm Kristin J, and I'm excited to meet you!

In 15+ years of teaching voice, my students have gone on to sing professionally for opera companies, in folk/acoustic bands, to study performance and music education in college, and some have simply enjoyed the confidence that comes with learning how to sing and improve their quality of life.

I recently relocated from NYC, where I sang with several opera companies, in a music theater festival, on tour in Jakarta, Indonesia, and at Lincoln Center. Professionally, I've sung opera, cross-over, music theater, sacred music, and spirituals with opera companies, in recital, and as a church musician. Currently I sing with the Utah Opera chorus.

I have a MM in Opera from ASU, a BM in Voice from FSU, and am a recent grad of the William Esper Studio for Actors.

While I'm most at home in t
he classical world, I encourage my students to develop healthy vocal habits and sing what they enjoy.

We will discuss and practice vocal technique, learn to read sheet music, sing voice exercises, and learn songs to develop musicianship skills, vocal prowess, expressive ability, and confidence.

About Gregory
I help my students discover and develop their own sound and use their own natural voice. I show them ways of using the voice that are new, adding on to what they already know, to make confident musicians who sing with ease and power.

I love aiding in the discovery process and being a part of the journey of curiosity my students embark on to identify their own natural voice. Together we cultivate musical skills which uncover this hidden gem and transform it into an impressive instrument of expression.

My job is to put you in control of your voice. To give you a toolbox of knowledge that you can apply to your singing to achieve your goals. I will help you unearth and enhance your unique instrument, the magic that sets you apart from every other singer.

About Suzanne
My number one goal as a teacher is to demystify the voice. Singing can be confusing, elusive and frustrating when you just can't figure out how to create the sound you want. I have felt all these emotions as a student and dedicate my teaching style to helping each student have a solid understanding of how to use their voice correctly and to achieve the sound they desire. Every singer is different, everyone learns and has their "Ah ha" moments from a different inspiration, so I tailor my lessons to cater to each individual's needs.

I'm serious about singing, but love to find the fun and joy in the process; It's very important my students feel at ease, comfortable and free to explore their voice without feeling embarrassed or vulnerable, I create an environment that nurtures free exploration to ensure we can discover what you're capable
of!

As well as voice technique I also offer performance coaching, audition coaching, studio coaching and recording prep, songwriting, and piano for singers.

A little about me:
British-born, Suzanne hails from a Musical Theatre background, a
scholarship student of the UK's acclaimed London Studio Centre, she is proud to the Shelia O'Neil Award winner for "Best All - Round
Performer" her graduating year.

She has gathered international acclaim for her unique vocal style and her commanding stage presence. A true chameleon of voice Suzanne co-created the successful indie band Dark Furs and Jazz Duo Lux and Lois. She works regularly with acclaimed producers and Music Houses lending her diverse vocal and songwriting skills for other artists as well as creating original music for Film and Television.

Suzanne's eclectic background ranging from Musical Theatre to Indie Rock has awarded her with an arsenal of knowledge on technique, (on stage, in front of the microphone, or in the recording studio) as well style, interpretation and performance technique. Suzanne believes the most empowering tool she can teach is to unearth and champion a student's own unique vocal style.

You never stop growing as an artist, or a teacher. Suzanne loves to guide students along the journey of working to their best voice.

After almost a decade of not singing or any singing lessons, I was apprehensive to start again. I felt like I couldn't sing in front of anyone comfortably. Suzanne made me feel like I could finally let my guard down.

Her lesson plan introduced me back into the world of singing gracefully. As the lesson went on, I became relaxed and aware of my voice once again. She pointed out my strong suits which helped me with my confidence, as well as guided me to what I can work on.

Her ability to help you connect to lyrics as well as pairing it with the technical aspect of singing really makes her a standout. Highly recommend!!
