Flute Lessons in Eagle Mountain. Amazing Teachers.

Music lessons should be fun, encouraging and full of music that you love. They are an opportunity to learn something new, show your improvement, and receive correction, encouragement and praise. Students and instructors should play together frequently throughout and the time should be balanced with theory, technique and exercises, sight-reading, and performance and seasoned with introductions to a variety of music and styles. I like to encourage students to play because they love to play and to find the music that is an integral part of their soul, then to share that with others through performance. My lessons are very student-driven. I start with whatever level the student is on and together we work to improve their abilities. My students pick their own goals and what they want to achieve. I use my knowledge and skills to help them achieve their goals.

Beginners: posture, breathing techniques, embouchure, sound production, articulation, phrasing, note reading
Intermediate: interpretation of different styles, dynamics, ensemble performance, building solid technique and stamina
Advanced: studying of orchestra excerpts, solo pieces, study of various concert and chamber music compositions

In my studio, I believe that my role is to steer students toward a deeper understanding of themselves, their instrument, and their relationship to music. I tailor my teaching to the needs of my individual students, who currently range from age 7 to adult, often adding improvisation and extended techniques to increase my students€™ awareness of the potential of the flute as a channel for one€™s creativity.
