I've got an 8 input mixer, lots of microphones and logic 9. We can record anything you can think of.

About Peter
I'm a multi-instrumentalist from the Northwest with lots of love for teaching people to groove. I got my bachelor's degree in music from Whitman College with an emphasis in Jazz Performance. I can teach anyone to rock, swing or get unreasonably funky. Lessons can be casual or serious and I'm down to tell you how to get to Carnegie Hall or onto the stage at the local jam.

*** Lesson Details ***
I like to teach my students what they want to learn! I'm always game for setting up a fun path to being able to play your favorite songs as fast as possible. I don't scold or shame and having a blast is the name of my game. I can teach you to improvise, read music, become a strummer or virtuoso, it's all up to you.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in the basement studio, piano, guitars, amps, hand drums, a bass, woodwinds, FULL DRUM SET!

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can travel with a sax, flute, guitar, electric bass, and a didgeridoo....

*** Specialties ***
I'm a jazz musician! But I listen to and perform all styles of music. I have written string quartets, been the front man for a funk band, and recorded every style of music under the sun. I can teach Bach and the Beatles and explain how/ and why they intersect and are similar musically.

About Andrew
If you want to learn what they teach in the guitar program (GIT) at Musicians Institute here in Hollywood, but don't want to spend $30k on tuition and living expenses to do it... Or, if you are planning to attend GIT yourself and want to get way ahead of the curve early, so you too can graduate with top honors... Schedule some lessons with me, at a fraction of the GIT price-tag!

Beginning, intermediate and advanced guitar players will all benefit greatly from the vast wealth of guitar- and music-related information and experience that I have to offer (no brag, just fact).

My influences include, but are by no means limited to: Frank Zappa, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Sting, The Cure, Duran Duran, Prince, Lady Gaga, Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Miles Davis, Christina Aguilera, Jimi Hendrix, Queen, Béla Bartók, Igor Stravinsky...and nearly
everyone else making interesting music in the world.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a GIT graduate and will teach you everything they teach at Musicians Institute, one-on-one. Whether you want to learn scales, arpeggios, chords, music theory, harmony, arranging, reading music, writing music, ear training, rhythm guitar styles (rock, pop, jazz, funk), soloing techniques (rock, metal, pop, fusion), songwriting (on acoustic and electric), live performance (pre-show preparedness, eliminating stage fright, developing a professional stage presence), using fx pedals, ideal amplifier settings, finding your signature guitar tone, music production (recording, mixing and mastering), music business (creating your press kit, marketing your music, negotiating payments and contracts)...you name it, I've studied it and will teach it to you!

*** Studio Equipment ***
When I'm not touring and doing sessions, I spend the majority of my time in Hollywood, where I keep a small but full-featured music studio on a nice, quiet little street just off Hollywood Blvd. It's great because it contains all of the necessary items I need to maintain my skills, improve my abilities, and expand my knowledge (sofa, chair, office desk/chair, several amplifiers, guitars, fx pedals, metronome, etc). And in terms of the lessons I teach, while there isn't an on-site waiting area, there are several shops, restaurants and a small Fresh & Easy grocer with a nice, quiet alfresco seating area just a block or so away. What's more, the Hollywood & Highland mall is only a few blocks away. Parking is very convenient in the LA Fitness subterranean garage, the entrance to which is located on North Sycamore Ave. The fee for parking is free for one hour, with easy, no-hassle validation from Fresh & Easy. Note: street parking is permit-only and you will be ticketed...so DO NOT park on the street!

*** Travel Equipment ***
Please bring your instrument, a notebook, pencil, and, if you would like to record your lessons to have and review afterward, a pocket-size recording device. I will typically record moments when a student performs an example of something s/he has been working on, or an improvisation regarding the same. I do this strictly for the purpose of (a) having an example to which to compare and measure the student's progress and improvement over time, and/or (b) to capture a 'magical moment' of musical inspiration that might prove useful to the student's artistic/musical development, etc. At the student's request, I will provide a copy of said recordings (if any) on a CD. All such recordings are kept 100% confidential, are not distributed nor disseminated for any reason whatsoever, and are deleted at such time that the student discontinues his/her lessons with me.

*** Specialties ***
I am a very style-flexible musician and guitarist. Some really great books I've used in my own studies and lessons include: Pepe Romero's 'Guitar Style and Technique,' Ted Greene's 'Chord Chemistry,' George Russell's 'The Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization for Improvisation,' Peter Magadini's 'Polyrhythms,' et al.

Colin is an experienced music producer and very knowledgeable in the ins and outs of pro-tools. Our lessons were super helpful. Pro tools was very daunting to learn and he knew just how to break it down. I went in really not knowing much at all and with our time together I'm now confident to make my own recordings sound great!

We started from the basics and Ingrid did an amazing job at gaging the level I was at and working accordingly. She is so sweet and patient and really helps you learn all the basics one needs to play piano proficiently. After only five lessons, I was already playing entire songs. I'm excited to continue our lessons!

I've taught music and audio engineering full-time for 6 years, and worked professionally for over 10 years. I'm comfortable teaching in English and Spanish. I focus on building a solid technical and artistic foundation that can serve you in all areas of audio engineering, including recording, mixing, live sound reinforcement, home studio work, music for film, post production audio, etc. I emphasize the importance of understanding signal flow, training your ears to listen critically to sound, and building up your knowledge of music production styles. I'd be happy to critique works in progress, giving you feedback to improve your art. We can focus on mic technique, arranging, songwriting, acoustics and studio design, and more.

About Alek
I’ve studied and worked as a musician, engineer, and educator in Ecuador, Spain, and the US. I got my bachelor’s degree at Berklee College of Music in Music Production and Engineering and Music Business and Management. After graduating, worked as a full-time professor of sound engineering and music production at Berklee BIN school, Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), one of the highest ranked universities in South America, where I taught eight classes per semester for two years, all in Spanish. In 2014, I joined the faculty of CSU, Chico, where I teach Recording Arts and Music Industry courses. I enjoy recording and mixing regularly on music and film projects.

Hello fellow music lovers. Ever since I can remember music and sound has fascinated me. I immediately took up playing the drums guitar and piano throughout grade school. In college, while acquireing my bachaleors degree in civil engineering, I also worked on an associates degree in audio engineering. I've run live sound for multiple venues and events around Houston, also performing in them as well. I'm great with all age group and whatever level you are starting at. If you are looking to start off playing an instrument and want to end up having a finished recording product, I can teach you every step of the way from acoustical treatment to voice pitch all the way to file conversions. If you are completely new to reading and writing music I will show you what each note head means, time signature, fortissimo etc.... everything you would need to read a piece of sheet music.

I firmly believe that experiencing music and being inquisitive are invaluable to learning how to play music. Studying music is not just about learning the material and regurgitating it, but discovering why a moment of music is cool and examining what about that moment makes it hit you in the right spot. I will be the guide that the student needs when he or she does not know where to go with his or her studies, but I want to encourage students to bring in music they want to learn, or discuss music that they think is cool and use that as a jumping off point into our lessons.

About Sam
With beginning students, I will lay out the fundamentals, teaching all of the scales, basic chords, key signatures and time signatures, and gradually integrate strategies for reading music. Depending on what the student is interested in learning, I will pull from my pool of repertoire - we could be studying a Bach Invention at the same time as a Billy Joel song. Classical music is great for technique and in many ways textbook for teaching harmony, but I play and love contemporary music, and will teach anything, as long as there is some form of musical knowledge to be gained from the material.
