I'm in a country band where I sing and play guitar.

About Ben
Hello, my name is Ben and GUITAR IS MY BUSINESS...AND MY BUSINESS IS GOOD so please consider me. I've been playing guitar for over 18 years and have been in playing bands for 12 years. Recently after the band broke up, I decided to further my education and went to Musicians Institute in Hollywood California. There I was taught by the best guitar players in the world. Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert, Scott Henderson, Tommy Emmanuel and Johnny Hiland were just a few of the great players who gave clinics there. I received a degree in Guitar Performance and the knowledge I received there made me UNDERSTAND the mystery that is the guitar.

I can teach Rock/Metal, Country (lead and rhythm), Blues, Alternative, Acoustic, Classical, Chord Melody, Melodic Soloing, Twang, Chords, Scales, Modes, Many different lead and rhythm techniques a
nd more importantly any song you want to go over.

I feel learning to play your favorite songs is the most important and the most fun about guitar playing. After playing songs, some of the information given (scales, chords, theory, ear-training) starts to make some since and you begin to slowly figure the guitar out.

Theory and Ear-training I feel are very important to learn when trying to understand music. It just gives you a basic mathematical way of understanding how music works. It can be very frustrating to learn and takes some time to sink in so if you don't want to learn it then that is great. Ear-training is cool because when you start to understand it you can actually hear music and not just listen to it. You can listen to a chord progression on the radio and go home and play it and also improvise over it.

I encourage BEGINNERS through EXPERT to at least hear what I have to say. I have A LOT of information to give about the guitar. I played for ten years made 2 demo CDs, one full length album, another demo specifically for Metal Blade Records, was in a big cover band and so I thought I knew it all and was a great guitar player. Then I went to GUITAR SCHOOL in Hollywood and reality hit me.
I wasn't as good as I thought. When you hear the best guitar players in the world everyday for a year and a half like I did at Musicians Institute it makes you want to be better and practice, practice, practice. I learned everything there about guitar and music and I know the Right way to teach.

Please consider me for your guitar teacher I will make it fun and a good learning experience as well.

Thank you,
Ben

It depends on what level the student is on and that is where we will go with the lesson. If you are a beginner we will start with the very basics. I try to make it to where you can easily understand everything taught. The most important part of the lesson is you are having fun with playing the guitar and also getting as much information as possible. Upper level students may want to go over a song they are learning or want to know about theory or chords. Usually we will talk about where you are at with your playing and then go from there.

Thanks.

Whether it’s to increase your confidence at karaoke night or to prepare for your first on stage performance, I’m very interested in helping you improve your singing. Ever been told that you’re "a little pitchy," or that you “just need to give it more support?” Tips like these often leave people frustrated because they don’t actually give anyone a plan for improvement. In my lessons we will focus on specific issues, and make sure you have a great plan for clear, noticeable improvement of your singing abilities.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I would provide some music literature with lessons and customized exercises to each student with lessons. I would expect students to acquire their own literature additionally, and to purchase copies of any pedagogical book I may be using.

*** Specialties ***
Classical singing and opera voice lessons
are my primary specialty, and they were the focus of my BM and MM degrees. I also have some experience in Jazz singing and saxophone. I encourage a knowledge of music theory in a students interpretation of a piece of literature, which makes me different from many other instructors. I believe this makes for a more well-rounded musician.

I have been singing as long as I can remember and teaching for more than 20 years.

Because the voice is uniquely individual, my approach to each student is strictly based on their needs as a vocalist. I listen to each student and develop a program for development based on the needs I hear as well as the desires of the student.

Of course, good technique is universal and there are some exercised I use with all of my vocalists to develop good habits.

About Lisa
I have been a music teacher and private lesson instructor for the past 20 years. I have a bachelor of science degree in Music Education and hold a teaching certificate for all-level Music Education. In my private studio I have taught students from 3-70 and have enjoyed them all! In addition to teaching music I also serve as the Music Minister for my church. Students coming to me can expect a tremendous amount of experience as well as a committed, honest and caring teacher.

*** Lesson Details ***
For beginning piano students at the pre-reading level (ages 3-6ish) I like to use the Faber "My First Piano Adventure" series. I love that this series enforces solid technique in a fun, child-friendly way.

For older beginners and players with some piano I like the Alfred series, supplemented, of course, with songs/styles of music that i
nterest the student.

Guitar: I've found that guitar method books are nearly as diverse as the guitarists that play them! That being said, I typically start with the Essential Elements for guitar for a solid introduction to music reading and a touch of theory.

Depending on the style of play the guitarist is interested in I move on from there. Mel Bays Classical method is always a solid choice as is the Christopher Parkening Guitar method. I also have a few tab oriented books and some rock/blues oriented books.

For clarinet and oboe students I like to compliment what their band/orchestra director is using when possible. I also love the Klose method for clarinet. The Rubank is also a tried and true book I use. I've had a lot of success with these books.

Of course the best method books are for naught without adequate practice time! When theory and technique work get too dry it's always fun to throw in some fun selections to compliment the "work."

Voice students are a bit different in that I don't use a specific method to instruct. I have many books that I draw from when teaching voice due to the unique nature of the individual. Depending on the style of music, from classical to jazz/pop, I have music that will teach proper breath support, vowel placement and tone.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Home studio: converted dining room with 3 guitars, young percussion instruments, upright piano and f/w keyboard. Seating available for parents.
Music ministry at First Christian Church in Terrell. Access to choir room with upright piano. Seating available for parents.

Degree in all-level music education with specialty in voice.

Want to sing your favorite Broadway tunes? Learn to hit that high note thats giving you trouble? Just want to feel more comfortable speaking and singing in public? My approach to voice begins with the basics and is deeply rooted in ear training and music theory. I am classically trained and I work as a musical director in musical theatre. I do audition coaching and actor training as well.

About Anthony
I am a professional vocalist, instrumentalist ( guitar, mandolin, piano, bass, ukulele), actor, writer and string theorist with a degree in Theatre from Oklahoma State University. I sing, act and play instruments for professional theatres in the Dallas area and have music directed community and childrens productions. I am largely self taught and consider myself my own best student and once in college built a guitar completely out of materials found at home depot. I have also studied voice, piano and guitar with several industry professionals.

I am a treasure trove of information about instruments. Consultation is included in the price and this includes everything from selecting a new instruments to basic set up and repair.

I place a large emphasis on ear training, which helps you to hear the structure and flow of music. Ear trai
ning is imperative for more advanced students to learn before they can begin improvisation. Its like giving a man a fish vs teaching a man to fish. Its also a great transition into the theory part of your instrument specifically for kids who often pick up and latch on to the concept. Ear training properly though is not only a daily process but can be difficult for some so if you feel like this isn't for you that is okay because it all comes down to what you want.

My voice students will learn to relax into their singing and to strengthen their voice week to week. Each student receives a personalized plan of daily exercises based on their needs and weekly performance. I also offer audition coaching for those in the musical theatre community. For kids and beginners we start with basic breath control and diction. For more advanced students we work on improvisation

My instrumental students will begin by learning ear training and basic structure from there I make it about you and what you want to learn. I am a big believer in genre bending instruments. I for instance play jazz and blues mandolin. If you're wondering why you have never heard of this its because you can count the number of culturally relevant jazz and blues mandolinists on one hand. There are also reasonably few people who teach this as it is something so rarely done. If you have latched on to a particular genre of music I'd love to help you explore it.

Acting students are encouraged to dabble in all parts of theatre and film as many roles require you to be a jack of many trades. Character development and emoting convincingly is only part of the game.

Cancelation policy: 24 hour notice or in case of emergency with doctors note.

In my singing career, I have benefited tremendously from instruction by teachers who perform professionally. I want to help my students develop their vocal ability by meeting them where they are and applying the lessons I have learned from practical experience as well as from what I have been taught. My goal is to equip students with the skills so that they can develop a reliable technique that works under all situations.

In 2013, I began singing professionally in principal roles with major opera companies (with regular appearances at Dallas Opera) and as a soloist with orchestras across the United States. I was an Adler Fellow with San Francisco Opera from 2011-2012. I received my Artist Diploma in Opera Performance from the Academy of Vocal Arts, my M.M. in Voice Performance from Boston University and my B.M. in Voice Performance from Westminster Choir College.

I have sung on the stages of the Dallas Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Opera Colorado, San Diego Opera and Florida Grand Opera to name a few. I am one of the very few fortunate enough singers who has been able to make my living for 8 years solely on my chosen profession.

In my singing career, I have benefited tremendously from instruction by teachers who perform professionally. I am a professional vocalist who has been performing for many years. I have taught voice lessons for many years, and am a member of NATS. I have studied classically at UNT in Denton, Texas, and at New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition, I have performed n rock, pop, R & B, and jazz groups all over the country. Many of my students have also pursued successful singing careers. Every voice is unique, and I include in lessons helping students to learn proper breathing techniques, vocal exercises that will enhance their voice, and work on material of all styles in order to improve their voices, and performance.

About Jamie Leigh
I am a professional vocalist and pianist. I perform and do studio work all over the country. I have studied music at North Texas State University (UNT), and at New England Conservatory in Boston. I am classically trained; however; my career has been made singing and playing comtemporary popular music. I also have professional theatre experience as well.

I have had the pleasure of teaching many students who have gone on to professional music careers. I am a very caring teacher, and will do my best to help a student become the best singer or player they can become. I am able to teach all styles of music. I am a very fun teacher; yet challenging teacher. I am encouraging, and I have years of training to share.

I have been performing in my band SHAZAM! as an encore favorite across the country. In 2012 I was a featured vocalist on Dymaxi
on Vehicle's CD....that recording won the coveted Artist In Music Award in Los Angeles. I have had a CORI Check as required by law to work with children. I am also a mother myself as well.

I tailor lessons based on the level, talent, skills, and areas needing work in the student's musical development process.I treat students as individuals...similar to a tutor or coaching relationship. Many students are naturally talented, and simply need more direction, and perhaps, technique, and basic music theory knowledge. In vocal study, proper breathing, vocal exercisers to improve singing and flexibility, and strength are part of lessons. In addition; I assist in choosing material, prepping for performances or auditions, and preserving and enhancing the natural voice of the student.

As a piano teacher; I can work with students at all levels as well. I am very good with beginners. I also have more to offer more advanced students in a concentration on technique, and add a music theory component to lessons as it helps them to become a better musician and instrumentalist. Thank you for your time!

I’ve trained with the best of the best in a cappella vocal training and it has shaped my lessons to be engaging and exciting, with primary ear training and modernized vocal technique at the forefront. I encourage song study, where students pick the songs the study... resulting in engaging and dynamic lessons! I approach studying voice from a modern perspective while also including classical training, creating a dynamic cocktail for all students.

About Alexandra
Hi future students! My name is Alexandra, but I go by Miss Lexie! After taking lessons myself from ages 3-17 then continuing my training all the way into my adult life, I feel as though I’ve found the most engaging and dynamic way to teach my students! I teach all styles, but pride myself on using song study to keep students excited and involved. My students pick the songs they work on! It can be anything from pop to classical. We spend weeks dissecting it and applying concepts and techniques through the music you love! I make my student’s excitement, comfortability, and creativity as a priority! And I always want my students to walk away from my lessons excited about making music and looking forward to the next one.

Also, growing up with 2 brothers with disabilities, both being musicians themselves, I have observed and learned the bes
t way for students with disabilities to find lessons an enriching and fulfilling experience. I love my students with disabilities and pride myself on tolerance, patience, and an individualized approach with all of my students!
