I am an experienced, educated, professional guitar player with a background in rock, blues, worship, jazz, classical, contemporary, country, and folk guitar. I have played/led for numerous worship teams, independent bands, and ensembles which are detailed in my "about me" section. I graduated Magna-Cum Laude from UTA with a bachelors degree in Music-Media with guitar as my primary performing instrument. I am the worship leader for Living Life Church, a private guitar instructor an intern under Brad Nyght at The Bakery Studio, and a freelance musician/producer/composer.

About Jordan
13 years ago, I picked up a guitar and began my life-long pursuit of music. This pursuit has led me in a wide variety of directions. Today, I am a worship leader for Fellowship of The Parks, an on-staff music-producer and session musician at Drive35 Productions, and a passionate instructor.

I have a passion for a wide variety of styles of music. For several years, I was the lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter for multiple independent rock bands, the most notable being an indie psychedelic band called Tod The Fox. I have led worship for many churches including Grace Fellowship UMC, Brazos Pointe Church, The Cornerstone College Ministry at UTA, FUMC Allen, Living Life Church, and Fellowship of the Parks in varying capacities. At UTA, I studied Jazz and Classical guitar under acclaimed guitarists Sam Walker and Billy Robertson. Here,
I also studied theory, piano, sight-singing, and music-production extensively. I graduated Magna Cume Laude with a Bachelor of Music-Media from UTA. After school, I spent 9 months interning/assistant engineering with acclaimed musician/composer/producer Brad Nyght at The Bakery Studio in Dallas- whose credits include being the drummer for The Michael Gungor Band and Desperation Band. Then, got hired as an on-staff session musician and music producer at Drive35 Productions. I have also played guitar, mandolin, and bass for multiple pit orchestras and guitar for the North Lake Jazz Ensemble with director Jim Eger.

My teaching style varies from student to student. Music is a wonderfully diverse subject and every student has his own aspirations. I will do my best to cater each lesson to the student's goals and interests. Whether that is classical guitar method, rock, jazz, folk, country, pop or anything in between.

I have an excellent internet connection and microphone set up for online lessons. I also utilize screen-sharing to make the lessons as close to real life as possible.

A few of my favorite artists include: Michael Gungor, Joe Pass, Andrew Bird, Chopin, Led Zeppelin, Glen Hansard, and Radiohead.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons will vary significantly from student to student. Not only does every student have different goals in mind, they all learn differently as well. I do my best to customize my lessons for each student's goals and needs. A typical guitar, bass, ukulele, or piano lesson may involve music-reading, chord studies, technical work, scale practice, theory, and of course learning awesome songs!

I consider myself a healthy balance between professional and light-hearted. As much as I want to make efficient use of the lesson-time, my primary goal is for the student to truly understand and enjoy music.

I have worked hard to be a flexible musician and teacher. I am competent in jazz, rock, classical, contemporary, blues, worship, country, and beyond and will be happy to teach any (or all) of these styles to any student.

I have been working with Jordan for nearly a year, learning ukulele and guitar. Jordan is an excellent teacher, has a friendly and upbeat personality, and is flexible with scheduling. Our lessons typically involve learning a song of my choosing (which makes the process enjoyable) and learning about music theory. I have steadily improved over the past year and am confident that I wouldn't be at the level I am now if I were trying to teach myself through YouTube videos or books. I offer my highest recommendation with no reservations.

My son loves taking guitar lessons from Jordan. We have now been going to him for over a year and Jordan keeps my 14 year-old engaged and excited about music. My son's dream is to learn more than just the guitar so Jordan helps him expand his knowledge by introducing him to other facets of music, while allowing my son to choose the different songs he would like to learn. He is the best teacher my son has ever had.

Been meeting with Tyler for 4 lessons now and cannot give anything but the highest praise for him. Before we began we set the outline for what
I wanted to do and how he could help - the planning was good but the execution far exceeded anything I could hope for. His insight, technical ability, and highly positive attitude makes him the perfect partner to "re-introduce" me to the guitar (35+ year break in playing). Cons: initially opted for 1/2 hour lesson - too short. Pros: understands my goals, appreciates the musical genre that is important to me, great balance between teaching during the lesson and giving me things to work on on my own, very positive and encouraging attitude....and many more "pros". My suggestion is - if you are thinking of going with him give him a call - very easy to talk to and you will likely find out what I have found - Tyler is top notch!!

It’s always a very special time a guitar student wants to learn about the blues. As an improviser, this is one of my favorite topics to teach.
We will listen to the great blues guitarists, discussing their individual sound and technique. Lots of time will be spent learning scales and basic harmonic principles. Most importantly though, we will jam! It’s not easy at first, but I promise to keep the vibe easy-going and positive.

About David
My name is David and I'm a professional musician who just moved to North Austin. I came from Cincinnati, where I went to the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, taught dozens of students at all levels and played regular gigs every weekend. I have been teaching for over fifteen years, and I'm looking to get a few new students.
I teach guitar, piano, bass guitar and even upright bass. If it's a tutor you are looking for I can also teach music theory and appreciation. I have a knack for teaching young people, probably because I was young when I started my musical journey. I've been very successful at inspiring a student's love of music and instilling the patience required to take on the challenge of playing an instrument.
The first thing I like to do is get to know you, the music you enjoy and your goals. In a way, I l
ike to begin by letting the student lead.
In addition to learning from you, I intend to present you with new information, to try and broaden your musical tastes and teach you how to be an active listener.

I have been playing guitar for over a decade and have tons of performance experience gigging in a local rock band. Combine that with a curriculum that starts with fundamentals and expands quickly into playing your favorite songs and you have a great start to beginning or expanding your guitar playing abilities.

About ryan
Hi, my name is Ryan and I would love to teach you how to play guitar. I've been playing for over 10 years and have been gigging for a little less than that in my band. Over the years I have gained a lot of experience performing on stage and teaching to people of all ages. If you want to shred, jam, or rock out then look no further. I okay all styles of music and pride myself in building a fun and educational curriculum based solely on you or others who have had similar interests as you. This means if you have a question about guitar or music in general, 9 times out of 10 I can answer it. The remaining tenth is either a well kept secret, or something that is left to be found. So if you're ready to start your journey or just need a guide to help you on your way, let's go!

Ryan was great! He's obviously a talented guitarist and he is very laid back and makes you feel comfortable. He shows you in detail what you need to do to become a better guitar player. My ONLY advice, and the reason he doesn't get 5 stars, is I think he should have more visual aids with his lessons. For example, write down the different scales or transcribe the first several measures of a song. Then, one has something to refer back to when you are practicing and invariably get stuck. Other than that, I would highly recommend Ryan as a guitar teacher!

Learn the techniques, styles, harmony, and ear training that increase your knowledge, confidence, and ability to know what to play...

"a good instructor makes all the difference in your playing ability"

Bobby_B

About bob
I can teach students to read music and pursue excellence, to learn how to play contemporary music using chord sheets, or both depending on the goals and preference of the student while stressing the importance of training the ear, which is where the confidence lies .Using methods that enables musicians to play what they actually conceive rather than bore their listeners with licks and "notes that work. "I'm not gigging currently, but being versatile , experienced and having formal training helps to make a learning experience easy, stress free and fun, and, that is especially what beginning and aspiring students need.
Some of the musical styles I regularly teach: Rock, Hard Rock, Blues, Jazz, Funk, Soul, R&B, Classical.

Guitar lessons with me are designed to help students achieve their musical goals. I place high importance on building student self confidence, through improvisation, composition, and technique building exercises. I also place high importance on the use of technology in lessons (beat making, recording techniques, amplifier/effect pedal usage, etc.)

About Anthony
Anthony has a great passion for working with students and helping them to succeed in achieving their own musical goals. As a teacher, Anthony’s primary motivation is to foster creativity, confidence, and independence in his students. Through a focus on musicianship, music theory, and technique, Anthony hopes to cultivate student’s abilities to learn and comprehend music quickly and efficiently. Over the course of several lessons, students will ideally develop methods to create music ways that reflect their personal voices. Anthony encourages his students to be confident improvisors as well as performers of written music and to make use of both acoustic and electric media.
Beyond teaching, Anthony is a composer, guitarist, and technologist based in Southern California. Through his compositions, Anthony explores questions relating to gestu
re, modularity, and metaphorical representation. Over his career as a composer, Anthony has developed a voice that focuses on both intricate systems and improvisatory practices. Combining the sound worlds of both acoustic and electronic instruments in his compositions, Anthony invents ideas to resonate with audiences of all types. His pieces have been performed internationally, with premieres in the United States, Italy, The Netherlands, and Spain. Want to learn the blues? Improve your improvisation and learn jazz technique? Maybe you're just getting started and you aren't ready to make a huge investment yet. You have come to the right place. I am a guitar teacher, blues and jazz are my Forte but I can play just about anything from classic broadway to hard rock on the guitar. I love to form lessons around my students and what they need. My approach to guitar starts with basic music theory and ear training. This will help students understand patterns and structure in music and allow them to communicate with musicians onstage. From there lessons become about what you want and how I can help you improve your technique. So if you're ready to start learning waste no time and sign up for a lesson today. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

About Anthony
I am a professional vocalist, instrumentalist ( guitar, mandolin, piano, bass, ukulele), actor, writer and string theorist with a degree in Theatre from Oklahoma State University. I sing, act and play instruments for professional theatres in the Dallas area and have music directed community and childrens productions. I am largely self taught and consider myself my own best student and once in college built a guitar completely out of materials found at home depot. I have also studied voice, piano and guitar with several industry professionals.

I am a treasure trove of information about instruments. Consultation is included in the price and this includes everything from selecting a new instruments to basic set up and repair.

I place a large emphasis on ear training, which helps you to hear the structure and flow of music. Ear trai
ning is imperative for more advanced students to learn before they can begin improvisation. Its like giving a man a fish vs teaching a man to fish. Its also a great transition into the theory part of your instrument specifically for kids who often pick up and latch on to the concept. Ear training properly though is not only a daily process but can be difficult for some so if you feel like this isn't for you that is okay because it all comes down to what you want.

My voice students will learn to relax into their singing and to strengthen their voice week to week. Each student receives a personalized plan of daily exercises based on their needs and weekly performance. I also offer audition coaching for those in the musical theatre community. For kids and beginners we start with basic breath control and diction. For more advanced students we work on improvisation

My instrumental students will begin by learning ear training and basic structure from there I make it about you and what you want to learn. I am a big believer in genre bending instruments. I for instance play jazz and blues mandolin. If you're wondering why you have never heard of this its because you can count the number of culturally relevant jazz and blues mandolinists on one hand. There are also reasonably few people who teach this as it is something so rarely done. If you have latched on to a particular genre of music I'd love to help you explore it.

Acting students are encouraged to dabble in all parts of theatre and film as many roles require you to be a jack of many trades. Character development and emoting convincingly is only part of the game.

Cancelation policy: 24 hour notice or in case of emergency with doctors note.

My sole initiative and expectation is to delivery quality, student focused music education. The student and I will build a solid foundation by getting to know the fundamentals of the instrument, building muscle memory, practice, and having loads of fun in the meantime.

Learning music can be challenging and daunting, and I always strive to create a low pressure and highly engaging and encouraging environment for positive personal growth. Learning music is not just about the music, it’s a creative outlet and a way to express yourself and learn more about who you really are. I take great pride in being able to be a part of cultivating that experience.

My teaching style follows the Montessori method; the focus is on fostering learning where the student is larger part of the process. Each student learns at a different pace, is interested in different goals, and has individual and unique needs. I take the care to listen and guide, giving each student unique curricula to work from. ...

About Corey
I started playing music in 6th grade, when I picked up the trumpet and joined the school band. From there I could not get enough. I quickly started playing the French horn and then got into guitar. I played blues, jazz, rock etc and decided I wanted more in high school and auditioned for a magnet arts high school in Denver. After attending the school held many gigs at local jazz clubs and then attended the Berklee College of music in Boston. I have been teaching lessons since high school and after that ran after school music programs throughout Boston. My goal is to give you or your child the best possible music education experience possible in the comfort of your own home.

I utilize an eclectic set of experiences to teach my students. I have studied classical music and played in jazz and rock bands. I appreciate and encourage the students interests. I help them to develop the right technique to articulate the sound and style that interests then the most.

About Tyler
I have been in a music student for most of my life having begun playing the piano at an early age. I began playing bass guitar at the age of 10 and the double bass and studying orchestral music at the age of 12. Bass guitar is the instrument that I feel most comfortable playing in a variety of styles and genres. This comfort on the bass guitar has been supplemented by training on the double bass through a better understanding fingering technique and how notes on the instrument are arranged and organized. I continued with both instruments throughout my time at Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, Texas. While at Arizona State University I was able to focus on the double bass and become more knowledgeable about music theory, history and composition. I used this knowledge to increase my abilities to train my hands on the bass but also the
piano and guitar as well.

I have been fortunate enough to be able study and perform in an eclectic variety of musical genres and styles during the majority of my musical development. This diversity of experience has allowed me to understand multiple ways of explaining a concept: use of solfege improvisation and using rhythmic patterns to name a few. I employ this diversity to help students develop their instrumental, aural and reading abilities. Through my experiences with music I have been able to perform in Orchestral Ensembles, Jazz Quartets and Big Bands, Latin Jazz Bands, Rock Bands, Funk and Blues groups, Pop groups as well as compose original music. To me music is multifaceted and so are good musicians. In addition to learning an instrument I hope my students learn problem-solving skills for their own benefit. While working with students my goal is to show that investing in quality practice only builds confidence and refines the ability express and articulate their creativity.
