I have written and sung over 40 songs in classical, jazz, and rock repertoire. I have over 8 years' vocal training and can teach students how to properly breathe, project notes, and have vocal control. I also teach vocal phrasing according to each singer's range and ability. I have been studying voice since 1995 in England. I have a Doctorate and Masters in Opera Directing, and Bachelors in Vocal Performance and Theatre Arts. While receiving my degrees, I participated in operas and musicals as well as oratorios. I am a soprano, but I am familiar with all voice types. I believe that each person needs to discover their own voice, and I want to help you discover YOUR voice.

My background in directing and acting is helpful in assisting with role preparation, not just vocal technique.

We will do different warm ups and then try and compare different singing styles. We will work on memorization, individuality, and the stylistic choices appropriate for each song.

I am passionate about connecting students to their own unique voice through discovering the relationship between the body, the brain, vocal discipline, and personal expression. I work on creating a resonant and freely produced sound throughout all the registers. My goal is to promote healthy vocal technique while having full engagement in a song. I believe that singing is not only learning the right notes and words while delivering a lovely sound: singing is conveying your emotion, your engagement, and your character’s situation to the audience. Once your voice is lined up with great technique, your “own” true voice will begin to surface with an increased vocal range, resonance, and heightened flexibility between notes. You will explore who YOU are as a singer and discover what repertoire works best for you. I also emphasize working through the actor’s process, so she can fully prepare you for any audition or performance.

Singing can be healthy, exciting, effortless-feeling, and cathartic all at the same time. Our one-on-one lessons link student goals with positive outcomes by developing understanding of healthy vocal habits, production, and presentation of repertoire that fits and flatters the voice. Areas of study include classical, music theatre, folk, and rock/pop.

All students will have the opportunity to perform on studio recitals.
