I am a private tutor of Japanese for all ages, currently from age 7 to middle-age. I love to be a witness when my students suddenly "get" something new we've been working on for a while. Japanese is a fascinating, beautiful, and complicated language, and it's exciting to be a partner in my students' achievements and success!

I have a lot of experience teaching middle school and high school age students--including my own kids, whom I homeschool. My first visit to Japan was a semester study abroad in my senior year of high school, and I've lived there off and on since then. My students receive the benefit of my life experiences there, including preparation for the realities of daily life in Japan--from how to use the public transit, to what to do during a natural disaster.

Along with my on-the-ground experience working in Japan as a translator/interpreter in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment, I hold an M.A. in Japanese and N1 (highest level) certification on the Japanese ...

My 12 year old lived her first lesson with Clare! She had been learning on her own a bit and was happy to hear she was learning pretty well. Clare communicated with me very quickly after the lesson to let me know what they had done and how it went as well as what to expect going forward. Excited to see what the next lessons bring!

Hi, I first taught Japanese to my friends at college in 2002 and I’ve always enjoyed teaching and interacting with students even though I didn’t expect it to become my career then. I have taught adults including senior citizens, college, high school and middle school students, and young children. Teaching Japanese to American military personnel and spouses who were stationed in Japan was the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. They truly needed the language skills to live in Japan, and they really appreciated that they were able to learn survival Japanese that’s instantly useful out in town.

I grew up in Japan and came to US to go to college. When I was a college student, I taught Japanese and English to middle and high school students during summer back in Japan. I have a Master of Education in TESL. I teach all levels including those who are starting out and also want to improve their fluency and understand the culture and history too!
I’m looking forward to working with ...

"This is only the second online lesson that I've ever had in Japanese. My first review that I gave to my former teacher was five stars. This one though, If I can give more than that I would but unfortunately five stars is the limit. Whoever is taking, or considering taking Japanese lessons with Aimi wont be disappointed. I'm in my 50's and Aimi would do anything to make sure that I would grasp the material. I'm 100 percent sure that she is equally outstanding teacher with younger students...And you, whoever you might be out there reading this review and willing to try learning Japaneses, go ahead and schedule a lesson with her; whether you are adult or young I'm confident Aimie will be the perfect fit."
