Getting set up with fundamentals of drawing a good sound with the bow and placing the left hand accurately is important for any string player.

About Mathew
Currently residing in Homewood, IL to play downtown with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, I am looking to continue my passion of teaching in this exciting new city. My wife and I have relocated from Bloomington Indiana, where I was an Associate Instructor for the Jacobs School of Music. Matt is an excellent guitar teacher. I highly recommend him.

Matt has been teaching guitar to my 12 year old son for several months now. My sons' guitar playing has improved greatly since his lessons with Matt. He's playing with a lot more confidence, thanks to Matt's influence.

Matt is always on time and has a wonderful way with people. My son feels very comfortable with him. They collaborate on songs together and it is important to Matt that Jude be engaged in his guitar practice.

We're thrilled with Matt and I highly recommend him as a teacher.
Any aspiring guitar player would be lucky to have Matt as a teacher!

Aaron teaches piano to my 8 year old daughter, Abby. She is shy but loves piano and she very much looks forward to his visits! He customizes her lessons to her skill level and interests. No question he is a serious musician, but he is also laid back and funny which is perfect for young kids as it puts them at ease. Abby is thriving under Aaron's instruction, I'm so glad we found him!

I've been teaching cello for 10 years and my students have gone on to participate in All-State orchestra, and play in professional orchestras. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to produce sound and play simple songs and as time goes on you'll be able to read music fluently and perform with ease. I specialize in Classical, and typically use Suzuki and Klengal scale books. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Byron
I love music. I love it so much that I have made it my career. I have been playing the cello for over 20 years and have studied in universities since 2002. In that time, I have worked extensively with great artists such as, Rhonda Rider, Joel Krosnick, Andy Mark, Nicholas Tzavares, and Mark Steinberg. I have taught students of all ages and abilities from beginners to University students. I perform regularly and have played in New York, Boston, Texas, Arizona, Banff, Montreal, and Hamburg. I have played in orchestras, professional String quartets, Piano trios, and as a soloist. I can play a wide range of styles from baroque to modern cello music, as well as Pop and Rock music. I have also played rock and jazz solos as a member of the Zappa cover band Bogus Pomp. I strive to give my students top tier training. by focusing on ear training
and technique, I can create adaptable healthy musicians that can learn quickly and work well in professional situations with or without sheet music.

I am a beginner but would highly recommend him to anyone. Not only does Byron play beautifully but he knows exactly what and how to teach you. Im always excited for my next lesson, so you should contact him and set one up too!

Kyle is a great piano teacher! He is very patient with my 12-year old son. Just yesterday he referred to him as “fun Kyle” because he teaches him small songs on the side that he can show friends and family or are for upcoming holidays. He’s always punctual and respectful of our family and home. I’m grateful to have found him!

Kyle has given me contra bass, aka upright bass, weekly lessons from August 2015 through May 2016. I have never played a string instrument prior to this, although I do play piano and have played the flute, bagpipes, and piccolo over the years. I did not need education in reading music.

Kyle was able to take me from sounding like a lower octave version of Jack Benny (a mid-20th century comedian famous for his howlingly horrid violin playing) to a level where I know how to hold the instrument and the bow, the fingerings, bowing technique, and how to get a very respectable sound from the instrument.

He also installed the strings when I received the new instrument, found a manufacturing flaw in the bridge height that the manufacturer subsequently paid to repair, and diagnosed a resonance issue with the instrument that was corrected with a balance weight on the string below the bridge.

It’s true what the other reviews say about her kindness and patience. Lenna is a warm, thoughtful and generous human being. She also happens to be a gifted teacher and skilled cellist. She is able to correct tiny details in my playing that make a huge difference in sound. Better yet, she approaches it in a way that I might be able to make those corrections for myself, by asking me what I heard first and listening to my observations. Also her approach to practice and playfulness is something I aim to use in many aspects of my life.

Lenna is a warm, competent and encouraging teacher whose patience and good humor have helped my daughter to develop a love of the cello. Talia practices for fun, and shares some of the conversations she has with Lenna with her friends because they mean a lot to her. For example, every week Talia seems to ask what the saddest note is, and she and Lenna play and discuss the emotional tenor of the cello. It means a great deal to Talia and she recounts thw discussions to her friends, for whom she now volunteers to play cello.

The nuts and bolts: Lenna is easy to reach, responsive and accommodating. She arrives on time and prepared. She is able to communicate effectively during lessons and gives good feedback and good homework. She is positive and encouraging, too.

After studying violin, strings, and piano in Boston, at New England Conservatory with Eric Rosenblith, Master Classes with Dorothy DeLay, chamber music with Leslie Parnas and Burton Fine, as well as other Juilliard teachers and studies with Robert Soetens in France, I have been fortunate to enjoy over eighteen years of teaching violin, strings (beginning cello), and piano students. I am currently teaching in the Harrisburg and York, PA areas.

My initial studio experience began during my education at New England Conservatory, where I began teaching young students in the Boston area. Later, I was able to give master classes, private and group lessons in France and Asia as a member of touring orchestras and currently teach private and group lessons as well as providing master classes for select students in all stringed instruments.

Music has always fascinated me. I'll never forget the day in the 4th grade, when high school students came and demonstrated all of the orchestra instruments. The tone and beautiful sound of the cello piqued my curiosity, and I knew immediately that it was the instrument for me!

ABOUT ME
• Over 30 years of experience in music industry
• Teaching experience includes private lessons, after-school string enrichment program
• BA in Christian Education / Minor in Music (Central Bible College-Evangel University.
• Member of the Texas Music Educators Association

ABOUT LESSONS
• Students of all ages (5 through adult) welcomed
• Lesson content designed to match level of student
• Music assignments (including region, all-state, and solo competition pieces) are designed to develop technique, teach basic music theory, and introduce literature that is characteristic of the cello.

About David
I have been teaching students and conducting groups of vocalists and instrumentalists for over 30 years. It’s one of my passions!

Why? Because I love the interaction with people, the camaraderie of making music together, the reward of everyone reaching for their potential and accomplishing things they might not achieve on their own!

My career in music has taken a many forms, such as Tour/Music Director for an international touring group called Celebrant Singers, Worship Arts Associate Pastor at Peoples Church in Fresno, California, and Pastor of Performing Arts at Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas. I've also taught private lessons in public school (Northwest ISD and Carrollton-Farmer's Branch ISD) and in after-school string enrichment programs.

Regular comments from people I have worked with are:

“You inspire me to be a better perfo
rmer.”

“Patience is your weapon. The peace that surrounds you, then flows to us, allows us to stay positive and focused!”

“Your sweet spirit and gentle encouragement have created such a safe atmosphere.”

“I grew so much personally and professionally.”

“Some of my favorite practice times were in the rehearsal room!”

We will work hard in our lessons; learning an instrument takes commitment. At the same time, you'll grow and refine your skills as a musician. The effort you put in will be reflected in how you develop.

Music assignments (including region, all-state, and solo competition pieces) are designed to develop technique, teach basic music theory, and introduce musical literature characteristic of the cello.

If that sounds appealing to you, then let's get started!

I began taking lessons with Mr. Schubert when I was four, and for the next nine years I was given a solid foundation of music theory while I learned my instrument. Being under his teaching helped me to develop a broader and deeper understanding of music and my instrument, which has opened many doors for me throughout the years. I am a classically trained musician with a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Florida State University. With a total of 19 years of experience - 11 of those years as a member of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra - I am capable of teaching multiple styles of music to all ages and proficiency levels. Also a multi-instrumentalist, I have the ability to teach other stringed instruments such as the viola, cello, double bass, guitar, mandolin, and ukulele.

About Toni
I am a professional Double Bass player with a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Florida State University. As a proficient multi-instrumentalist, I am able to teach all stringed instruments, such as the violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, mandolin, and ukulele. With experience coaching and mentoring students who have a passion for songwriting, it has helped them become effective, dynamic, and knowledgeable songwriters.

I teach strings to students of all different ages and proficiency levels. I am a classically trained musician with 19 years experience, with 11 of those years as a member of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. My competency and versatility as a musician has given me the opportunity to work with children in the public school systems, after school programs, recreational centers, local events, and statewide competitions a
nd conventions.

Every instrument has a unique timbre, so I teach students what their chosen instrument's role is and what it's specific sound is used for. I believe that "practice makes progress," so I encourage each student to practice consistently and efficiently. By applying foundational techniques during practice and performance, it will aid in their continual growth and progress as a musician.

Depending on the goals and preference of the student - no matter the instrument - I highly encourage each of my students to learn to read music/chord sheets, understand and maneuver their instruments fluidly, and challenge themselves to pursue music in any and every way they can.

I firmly believe that learning technique and theoretical knowledge is essential to learning any instrument and any style. Focused practice sessions and learning how to listen actively instead of passively will shape a well-rounded musician, and as the teacher, achieving this with every student is my goal and my passion.

I very much look forward to meeting you and helping you to become a better musician!
