Let's go on an adventure together! Along my life's musical journey I have played with and been mentored by some of the greatest people you could meet..... And a few not so great. It takes all kinds right!? Through it all one thing is clear. It's supposed to be fun. Traditional style instruction may be fun enough for some but I prefer to use methods tailored more specifically to the individual. We are all different and within our individuality is the artist you were meant to be. I would love to help make music even more fun for you and while you're having fun, secretly I'll be imparting strong fundamentals and music theory... Or perhaps not so secretly anymore.
Want to play your favorite songs? Interested in learning to write and record your own professional-quality music? Taylor is a versatile and experienced guitar, vocal, and songwriting teacher. He has been teaching for seven years, specializing in tailoring lessons to each student based on their unique music goals. Taylor strongly believes music should be a joyful and fun experience where students’ development is fueled primarily by their own love of their favorite music. Lesson plans focus on learning accessible songs of the student’s choice, and developing skills through that process. Taylor also has a home studio in which he helps his students record, and learn how to record their own music with professional quality (optional also included in lessons).
Hi! Thanks for taking a second to read about me. I love music and that's why I'm here. Each instrument is a channel through which we individually learn how to interact with music. I chose guitar when I was a kid and never looked back. Now it's your turn to learn!
What I found most effective in my years of learning is what I'll teach you. Since every student is different, I'll listen for your cues and provide the guidance that you need. For example, some students simply want to play a few country songs and look to me for interpretation where other students what to understand the mechanics behind the theory and jazz.
I do believe some basic music theory will help you more quickly absorb all the music you hear around you and put it into a context so you can play it quickly, without reinventing the wheel every time. It's a great long term investment into simplifying music.
I'm great with beginners and I always learn something during a class too. I'm looking forward to ...
I'm simple and functional. What's fun is being able to play music. Yes, sometimes that means getting into some theory but more often than not it's simply learning how to find sounds that you like.
I'm great with kids that are first learning and adults that are looking for a hobby instead of flipping on the TV. Mark Knopfler writes his songs with basic major and minor chords on his acoustic. We can get you rocking in no time!
If you are local in the Philly area I'd love to meet you.
