About Neil

Enjoyed working with Neil. Very professional and I felt very comfortable with his teaching methods. Unfortunately I will not be able to continue my lessons with him in home since I am considered high risk for the virus. I will be canceling the remainder of my in-home lessons and picking them up at a later date

I have been teaching and performing professionally for over 30 years at all levels, from beginners to post-doctoral professors of saxophone at major universities. I am a retired professor of saxophone and my students have won various competitions at all levels. We will focus on developing proper technique, building good practice habits, and long term improvement.

About Andy

My students have described our lessons as being fun, intense, humorous, and thought-provoking. Lessons are always tailored to the individual student, because the lessons are about the student making progress toward their goals, not about me. 3rd lesson done and couldn't be happier with our online teacher. Mr. Wen is informative and very professional. Recommend for anyone.
Alexa
Dr. Wen was the best professor and lesson instructor I have ever had. I took lessons with him for over seven years starting in high school and throughout my entire college. He shares his expertise in music theory, techniques, and instrument mechanics. He really helped me gain confidence in my playing abilities, showed me how I should be practicing in order to get the most of each rehearsal, and taught me so much about myself as a player. His ability to instruct on every aspect of playing the instrument is something I really admire. Need help rhythmically? He will help you understand time, measurement, and notes. Need help technically? He has all the ways to practice to get that much closer to perfection and how to maintain it. Need help with scales? He will help you to truly understand the scale in order for you to play it better. Not only will he help with the "how-tos," he will explain the why. Needing help with breathing techniques or articulations? He will take you through exercises that will enhance every aspect of your playing. He sets the standards high, and helps you reach your goals. I will always recommend Dr. Wen!
Valerie
Dr. Wen is an outstanding saxophone instructor, performer, and technician! I learned more from him in my first two 30 minute lessons than I had in 15 years of playing.
He will teach you how to make your practice time more productive, alternate fingerings to play more in tune, techniques to make note transitions easier, how to prepare new reeds for playing.... and on and on.
I had not played for a very long time. Dr Wen got me from there to where I was playing in a University Wind Ensemble, a quartet, and a community band. He also knew exactly where my saxophone needed to be adjusted to make it play better.
Dr Wen was my instructor for approximately 7 years. I learned a tremendous amount from him. You can’t do any better than Dr Andy Wen. He’s outstanding!

I worked with Laura through my high school years. She has been very helpful, and has worked with me so that I can have the best musical experience possible. She has always been very approachable and easy to talk to! The lessons were always very fun; she always made sure to give me a safe space to make music and not feel judged. Whenever looking into colleges and audition times came up, she knew how to approach the situation and how to prepare me for them! I am so grateful to have gotten to work with her!

Laura is a very encouraging, supportive teacher that pushes her students and works hard to help them be successful. I have been a student of hers for about 5 years now and I've experienced how amazing she is firsthand. She always motivates me to be the best I can be and improve beyond that. She makes herself available between lessons for questions and advice, which has always been super helpful. Overall, studying under her has been an enlightening, wonderful experience.

Laura is a dedicated violinist and teacher. As her colleague in the San Antonio Symphony, I am always impressed with her warmth, kindness and communication skills. She is a wonderful violinist, great team player and her personality will always brighten up your day!

With many years working as a composer, performer, & teacher, I strive for my students to simply enjoy exploring the language of music while embracing the discipline of the learning process, whether it is through playing pop, jazz, or even their own compositions!

About Andrew

To me, as both a teacher and student, the most valuable skill is to enjoy-- to enjoy every moment that comes, even the less pleasurable ones, for the true treasure lies in not the end goal but rather the path. To most young folks, the less pleasurable moments usually mean the boring ones such as st

My 9-year-old daughter has been taking piano lessons with Andy for about a year and a half. When she started, she was brand new to music lessons and had never even tried to play an instrument- now she reads notes, plays a wide variety of songs, and has a whole new appreciation for music! Andy keeps my daughter motivated, engaged, and excited to learn by really tailoring his instruction to her interests and needs. Excellent piano teacher, thank you Andy!!
Melissa
Andy is a thoughtful teacher who clearly spends considerable time figuring out how to tailor the lesson to the needs of the student. He combines rhythm activities and note reading and theory in ways that are fun, and creative, and help keep young students engaged and excited to learn. In the several months since my seven-year-old started, he reads music better than I do, but more importantly, he loves playing on the piano.
Tim
When my five year old started showing interest in the piano I knew it was time to start lessons. Andy has been great at turning a simple interest into a new ability. Our son is six now and I feel like he is better than me. He is able to recreate songs he hears as well as a little bit of free style. He's no Mozart of course, but Andy's patience and consistent training and encouragement have come a long way. I highly recommend him.

6 Struggles Only Karaoke Enthusiasts Understand (in GIFs)

Love karaoke? And by that we mean... borderline obsessed? Is it your first suggestion for a birthday get-together? Do the karaoke hosts at your local bar know you by name... and get concerned when you don't show up? Are you first on stage, while your friends hide in the corner slowly sipping their liquid courage? Yep, we know the feeling. Even if it takes you forever to browse the book and pick the perfect song to sing, it's all worth it when you take the stage, grab the mic, and …
