I love teaching people how to play songs they enjoy! I'm not too focused on music theory, but am more interested on giving you the tools to play your favorite songs! Playing guitar doesn't have to be difficult or boring. Whether you want to play the Beatles on an acoustic guitar, learn your favorite Metallica riffs or even learn the basics to play at church...I'm your teacher!

I have a lot of experience with the Suzuki method as a teacher and also a player having started with that myself. However unless the player or parent specifies that they want strict Suzuki, I go with my method which involves Suzuki but also other methods. I was not strict Suzuki and it definitely worked for me as well as students of mine!

I'm a singer/actress/dancer and I started teaching because it brings me great joy to help students -- quite literally -- find their voices! I teach the pop, broadway, and classical techniques and place a large emphasis on musicality.

Typically in a lesson, I'll start off with technique warm-ups, and then we'll work on a song of your choice. Even if you have no plans to perform the song any time soon, I've come to understand that working on pure technique alone will only get you so far - in order to sing well, you must first... sing!

We can work on the same song for as long as there are improvements to be made and lessons to be learned. On that note, I am by no means a pianist... I play a bit, but don't usually do so during voice lessons. I prefer to focus on YOU and not the piano with which I might've tried to accompany you :)

I hope to be singing with you soon!

About Shira

Music is my whole life :) I'm a singer, songwriter, actress, dancer... and voice teacher, of course. I've tutored kids in a variety of school subjects, but singing is my favorite thing to teach! I love seeing the growth in students as they gain a better understanding of their voice and find th

"I'm very grateful to have found a teacher as generous as Chris. Since reviewing is so important in our culture anymore, I always like to get a good sampling before constructing a review. Chris shows consistently that he listens to his students, offers positive critique, and molds his approach to meet the student where they are. Chris makes it easy, fun and relaxing to learn. It isn't hard to gather that Chris is a professional and experienced teacher. I am a very beginner, adult student, and I can appreciate how Chris can teach a spectrum of students at different skill and experience levels.
