I have also played in select honors bands, such as the Great American Marching Band in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Our first lesson was great. Ashley quickly got where I was and what I needed and we were off to a great start. She gave me tips on how to seat and breathe correctly, how to place my mouth and fingers on the keys to get a better sound, and we started practicing a few notes. Within a couple of days she sent me detailed notes on what we had gone through in the first lesson and gave me some exercises for practicing. Great experience all around for a beginner like me and I look forward to keep learning from her!

I have been teaching saxophone for 10 years. I enjoy teaching people of all ages, both children and adults, of all levels. I believe in teaching a strong core of music fundamentals but also in finding what makes music special to each student. Lessons should be fun and engaging. I have several students audition into regional bands, and select school ensembles every year. But we also make sure to play some pop tunes and top 40.

"I have been working with Eric for the past 10 years. He has helped my Downey HS Jazz Program tremendously through his method of teaching jazz improvisation. Eric made my job a lot easier, having students understanding the art of creating something out of nothing! As it is very frightening for young musicians to improvise, Eric developed a sense of confidence in our students when it comes to it. I can’t thank him enough for what he does every week"

"I took alto sax lessons with Masaru when I was in middle school. He is an excellent teacher and gifted musician. He introduced me to Jazz improv and fundamentals and helped me prepare for many solo performances both in school and outside. With his guidance and preparation I was able to audition and make it into Jazz band at my high school. I would highly recommend Masaru!"

"I first started taking lessons with Rick Rossi at the age of 12. I came in and knew little about music but Rick was a great teacher. He used easily absorbable methods about things that other musicians have trouble explaining. It was soon very clear to me that Rick Rossi was an exceptional musician. He could play funky jazz lines, and transition to beautiful classical melodies and play them with such ease and fluidity. It wasn’t until that I had taken some lessons with other teachers that I knew what I had in my life. Rick is a masterful jazz improviser, and I had learned the secrets of a pro’s pro. His methods gave me an edge over the other musicians in my school jazz band. The teachers noticed it and gave me lots of soloing. I was soon able to play chord changes shortly after. The “Rick Rossi” method breaks down a lot of the questions people have about what types of techniques saxophonists use when they solo. Using Rick Rossi’s method has opened lots of doors for me musically. As a result I have played in numerous bands and as soon as Rick thought I was ready he hired me to play in his bands. He is an exceptional musician with tons of experience under his belt. He has played with numerous big-name musicians in the industry. Not only does he teach and play music, he runs his own music agency called Rossi Music that hires and books some of the best musicians in the Los Angeles music scene. His teaching has helped me to become more aware of what it takes to be a professional musician in the real world of the Los Angeles music scene."

Choosing a Neck Strap | How to Play Saxophone Tips

Learning how to play saxophone starts with the right equipment--namely, a quality neck strap!
