I've been teaching Spanish since I was in high school. I'm a fluent at speaking and writing Spanish. I took Spanish all through out high school and middle school. I'm very patient with student specially if it's not their first language. I make sure to always compare and contrast Spanish and English and ways to make them easier to understand how to speak it and write it. There's a lot of ways I make sure my students practice understanding when hearing Spanish vocabulary.

About Paola
Hey there! My name is Paola, I have been teaching at public schools since 2014 and I'm currently available to teach lessons at my location. I have helped students academically, specifically in math and in writing (english & spanish) from being in kindergarten all the way to college level. I'm very easy going and I make sure to teach my students to understand the material. I'm patient and always make sure my student feels comfortable around me by building a conversation and trust.

I will simplify the language as it was taught to me as a little girl. Once you understand the sounds, language patterns, and the usage of verbs, the language gets easier. I have my students practice syllables

I am a credentialed high school Spanish teacher in CA with a masters in education, so I am very familiar with how students learn and adapting to learning styles. I like to build vocab, then use conversation to more organically learn words!

I'm happy to adapt lessons to themes or specific grammar exercise for my students if they wish! Some native speakers may speak well and know a lot of vocab, but they struggle explaining the WHY certain grammar features are the way they are! Just like in English, you need both conversational AND formal knowledge of a language.

About Justin
I have a bachelor of arts in Spanish with a minor in Latin American studies. I've studied abroad in México and Argentina (three months each) and know well the language variances of each. I would love to share both language and teach cross cultural competence to students of all ages. I am a trained, credentialed teacher in California and have experience differentiating lessons and activities for a wide spectrum of learners. I've taught high school classes of Spanish as well as Spanish for spanish-speakers, so my lessons can be used for students who grew up speaking spanish at home, but lack a formal education in the language. I also have a masters in multilingual education from Cal State San Marcos

Not only have I studied Spanish, but I have also lived in Peru and Mexico for a several years, as well as traveled extensively around Latin America, gaining complete fluency. In addition to Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced Conversational Spanish, I also teach Spanish for Healthcare Professionals.

About Jackie
Hi! My name is Jackie, and I have 15+ years of experience in teaching, tutoring, and training. Currently, I am enjoying managing two small businesses while teaching students part time.

All of my students, meaning a perfect 100%, have improved their grades by at least one letter grade, if not more, and passed every one of their tests and exams. I help ALL my clients reach their goals!

A couple years ago, I returned to San Diego after living in Peru for several years where I taught English as a second language. My students ranged from adult business people and academicians to primary and secondary school students. I really needed to utilize different teaching methods depending on each student’s needs. Some students wanted more business-related conversation, so I had to be able to teach business principles in marketing, communication,
logistics, interviewing, and so much more. Critical thinking was an area that I pushed my business students to improve. Other students needed to work on the basics of grammar, reading, and writing, and we had a lot of fun in class, whether going through the interactive lesson or improvising by playing fun games to emphasize thinking on their feet in another language.

The feedback I often received from my Peruvian students, as well as my students in Mexico and the U.S., was that I made learning an enjoyable experience—they wanted to work harder to advance quickly in their classes. All of my students agree that I have a lot of patience and turn even the most challenging lessons into ones of positivity and encouragement. I provide critical feedback in the most constructive of ways that help the students reach conclusions on their own. I enjoy being there to support and guide their experience!

Before I left for Peru, I worked at St Vincent de Paul Village (part of Father Joe's Villages) in downtown San Diego. There I focused on Health Education. I built the Villages' first Health Education department and helped start its innovative Health & Wellness program. As part of these two programs, I taught homeless and low-income adults with and without learning disabilities, as well as children from preschoolers to high school students. Teaching such a wide variety of students how to improve their health while living in sometimes precarious situations without much income or stability pushed me to think creatively and come up with memorable ways to engage the students and help them apply what they had learned in their daily routine.

In high school, I took all AP and college prep classes. I went to a liberal arts college in Virginia where I focused on social studies and biology. I spent a few years training business people in Microsoft Office, Photoshop, InDesign, as well as presentation techniques. In grad school, I specialized in applied anthropology and public health. During that time, I tutored students in web design. In between, I've worked in Communications and Training in international health and development, so I have a lot of experience to bring to teaching.

Basically, I love teaching. I'm enthusiastic yet patient, and I absolutely adore helping kids and adults alike learn. It's such a sense of accomplishment when my students show off their terrific grades. I see the same look in my students’ eyes regardless of age—that pride that shines from within, that exuberant smile, like they can conquer anything. I want my students to keep that pride for a long, long time.

Right now, I'm writing two textbooks to be used in my Spanish classes. I've also written several academic articles published online. I love traveling, cats, and learning!

I love to teach, and have tutored and taught lessons since high school. I love Spanish and the culture that comes with it, and am excited to be able to pass that on!

About Em
Hey there! I am a very creative, kind, and vibrant teacher! I love to teach anything I am passionate about, and have experience teaching in a foreign country as well! I have tutored in a variety of subjects, and always have students tell me how much fun they have in their lessons, and sometimes they even end up gaining a new appreciation for the subject I am teaching them! I am a firm believer in teaching with love and patience, and love to get to know my students and form a good relationship with them (especially if it is more than a one time lesson). My prices are flexible, and skill set is pretty wide! So excited to get to work with you!!

She was a great teacher! Could do all the moves with ease and was patient with those who couldn’t. She went slow enough for us to keep up and get a good result. She kept it fun but yet relaxing and enjoyable.
