I'm very good with young students. Flute is very difficult for smaller, younger ones because of the instruments size. And it's difficult to even get a sound sometimes.

About Schroeder
" There's a difference between playing the notes and making the Music. Wanna know the difference? "I've been a professional musician and teacher for over 35 years. I have a degree from the University of Minnesota and I studied music at the University of St. Thomas when I was in high school. I've performed and recorded with numerous artist including The Temptations, Peter Noone (Herman's Hermits), Bobby Z, Billy McLaughin, Presidential Inauguration 2005, The Shirelles, Martha Reeves, Larry King, The Guess Who, Quiet Riot, Loverboy, J. Hoye and many more. I received the Certificate of Achievement from Billboard Magazine for production and songwriting, etc.,etc. enough about me though.

Every student is different so I like to base lessons for each student upon their strengths and weaknesses. Some students are just
beginning, others want to improve upon their skills. Some students want to learn more about Classical music, others want to learn jazz and improvisation, others rock and roll or country et. al.. Others want to know how music works-the theory

My teaching experience includes students between the ages of 8 and 70. I believe in the individual approach and decide what music books and methods to use and recommend after the first few lessons with the student. Playing the flute is a great skill that lets you appreciate and express music. It also enhances your focus and the quickness of your mind since you think of a few things simultaneously while playing. For fun you can play your favorite song, compose one or play duets with your teacher.

Flute lessons can be fun, educational and helpfull. Playing the flute is a great skill that lets you appreciate and express music. It also enhances your capability to focus and the quickness of your mind since you think of a few different things simultaneously when playing the instrument. And the fun part - well you can play your favorite song, compose something yourself or have fun playing duets with me or fellow flute students.

I have taught flute privately for over 8 years. I believe that lessons should be fun and informative. I also believe in hard work and collaboration. As I mentioned earlier, I believe lessons should be collaborative meaning that the student and I will decide together what materials are best suited for their goals and needs.

About Carey

I believe that students should be given an opportunity to be shown how to practice. This is so that when the instructor is not there to guide, the student is able to know step-by-step of what they are supposed to do. Practice sessions should include scales, etudes, and solo repertoire. I will include individualized videos for weekly emails for each lesson with how to break down and practice the scale, section, or piece.

About Vivian
Vivian is violinist who has experienced teaching all ages. She is currently pursuing an Undergraduate Degree in Music Education(Instrumental) at Rowan University with the mindset of having a performance and education masters. She has recently awarded Teacher of the Month for July 2019 on Lessonface. Upcoming performances include works from Mozart, Beethoven, and Tchaikovsky.

Past positions include Concertmaster of the Rowan Youth Orchestra. Occasionally plays with the Orchestra Society of Philadelphia, judges All South Jersey Orchestra, and volunteers for Music at Bunker Hill, a Chamber Music Venue in Southern New Jersey. Lessons customized to your goals and the musical styles that you love.

About Joe
I'm a professional saxophone artist and a teacher of woodwinds/piano as well as improvising / theory / songs-learning techniques for any instrumentalist or singer. I studied music at New York University, as well as with many great saxophonists and workshop masterclass instructor, and have ten years' experience teaching woodwinds, piano/keys, and other musicians of all ages, levels, and backgrounds.

Lessons and curriculum are all customized for your goals, and my students all learn how to play the music that They Love- as well as widen their appreciation for the musical arts, and learn the essential components and benefits of having their own Practice which can translate into schooling, sports, and careers in any field. While competitiveness is not the focus of my teaching approach, students of mine have gone on to win auditions for
region/state bands; get into jazz major programs; or increase their chair in the school band.

As a performer, I spent nearly ten years working with some of the best in the business in New York City and on tours of Europe, the United States, and Brazil - including regular work with members of James Brown's band, Lauryn Hill's band, Prince's band, Fela Kuti's band, and numerous others. Other Google-able semi-famous artists I've worked with include the MacArthur genius George E. Lewis; Archie Bell; Karikatura; Jae Soto; and my own experimental trio dustlights (currently putting out records on the world-renowned jazz label Ropeadope). I have written/arranged horns for an India-New York colloboration Maati Baani, which went viral (660k views). And I have written and produced music for film featured at the Cannes festival.

I am opening a private lesson studio at my home in Downtown Carrboro (across the street from Open-Eyed Cafe), and also making myself available for at-home lessons in the greater Triangle area.

Please feel free to contact me here with any questions, comments, or inquiries. And thank you for considering me for your musical education.
