Along with playing guitar and studying music theory, those skills have been applied to learning various stringed instruments including the bass guitar. I have had the privilege of nearly 20 years of playing music and have been able to apply my skills and knowledge into learning bass and effectively teach my students. I teach a variety of skills and styles including but not limited to: rock, jazz, blues, country, pop, alternative, pick style, finger style, and others. My goal as an instructor is to keep the lessons fresh, fun, interesting, and to ultimately guide the students to better teach themselves as they gain experience and familiarity with the instrument and music. Students can have their lessons catered to the music and styles they wish to pursue. Lessons are tailored to each individual student so that we can build upon their strengths and focus on lessons to improve weaker areas. Students will learn how to build dexterity, use proper technique, and be creative. Every student ...

Hello, my name is Matthew and I am a student at Belmont University studying electric and double bass under some of the greatest bass players in the country and gain personal insight on their teaching styles as well as what makes great bass players. However, I understand that lessons with these professionals can be expensive and I want to be able to help students discover the joy of bass playing in the same way that I did. I treat each student individually and as the unique learner that they are and will create a curriculum for them depending on what they would like to learn! Of course there are certain things that I believe every student should learn such as scales and arpeggios and things the student shall be able to take whatever path they choose! Thank you so much and I hope to spend time with you diving into the amazing depths of the instrument that is the bass, both electrically and acoustically
