As a native Hebrew speaker, in my class you will learn how to speak Hebrew the way a native speaker learned. The class will be conducted all in Hebrew so that you get the full Hebrew immersion. New vocabulary and structures will be taught through pictures and gestures and imitation.

About Atalia
Everyone has a beautiful voice. Let me teach you how to make it heard.

My passion for music is the most pervasive quality of my personality. Consequently, passing that passion on to others is what brings me the most joy in life. My goal is to spread the love and appreciation for this unique and transcending art form through guidance, performance, and instruction. As my student, you will receive exactly what you (or your child) want out of the lessons-you are the one controlling what you want from them (be it any style of music, professional track or just for fun, music theory, and performance) and I am there to provide it. Music is nothing short of extremely fun and completely liberating.

I have always loved to sing and play guitar and piano starting from a young age, and I never gave up my determination and passion for perfor
ming. In middle and high school I did many musicals (Jekyll and Hyde, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Oliver, Miss Saigon, Little Shop of Horrors, Footloose, Kiss Me Kate, and Cats) and sang in the choir (including the California All State Honor Choir and Jazz Choir). I played guitar in the school Jazz Band and participated in many jam sessions out of school. I also participated in many piano competitions, including ones for my own composition (I received an honorable mention for one of my own piano works). In college, I received a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Redlands. I have recently completed my Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Redlands. I have performed many opera roles including Suor Angelica in Puccini's Suor Angelica, Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata, the Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute, and Fiordiligi in Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte, and Najade in Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos. I was also in the University Chapel Singers Choir, Madrigals Choir, and Treblemakers a Capella Jazz choir. I currently reside in Germany where I am teaching online lessons to students all over the world, teaching English, and pursuing an opera career. So far I have sung the role of the Queen of the Night in Weimar, Germany and have done a few concerts singing Christine from the Phantom of the Opera.

"Hard work beats talent if talent does not work hard." This is my favorite quote. I truly believe that hard work will take you anywhere, no matter where your starting point is. With hard work and determination, you can be anything you want to be. With motivation, anyone can be a beautiful singer, guitarist, and pianist. If I did not believe this with all my heart, I would not be where I am today. To me, every student has great potential. It is my job and joy to bring out that potential and cultivate it into talent, love, and passion.

LESSON DETAILS

My lessons are fun and rewarding. I do not believe that a critical environment is one that is healthy or pleasant to learn in. Therefore, I am a very encouraging, patient, and supportive teacher, and I will praise you for your improvements, as well as help you correct your difficulties. I like to think of my lessons as a team effort, with more emphasis on working together and having fun. With that being said, I believe that you get what you put in out of our lessons. The more you practice and the more you show me determination and motivation, the more we can have fun, improve technique, and really make music in our lessons.

I customize each lesson to my student, so you tell me what you want to sing or play and what your goals as a musician are, and I will instruct you (or your child) in the exact way that fits your goals and interests. After a couple months with me, you will have a new found passion for music, knowledge of proper technique, reading and diction, and the skills to perform and communicate pieces of music. Most importantly, you will have the time of your life!

My voice lessons consist of vocal warm-ups where you learn proper technique and posture, breathing exercises to expand your diaphragm and support when you sing, and Repertoire work where you apply the technique you learned, practice performance skills, and learn diction of English, Italian, German, Hebrew, or French.

My guitar and piano lessons start with learning how to read music (if you do not know already) and being familiar with the keys or frets and the notes on the staff. Then we work on pieces of music, paying attention to the key factors of musicianship including rhythm, interpretation, dynamics, composition, musicality, and performance practice. My music theory lessons are based on whatever the student wants to learn or needs instruction on. I teach anywhere from basic music notation to advanced harmonic and formal analysis.

My speaking and lessons are similar to my voice lessons, minus the singing aspect-the same technique we use for singing is the technique we must use for speaking if we want to be heard, be healthy, and not get tired or worse - lose our voice. We work on breathing and projection techniques and then practice on a reading sample or presentation.

My acting lessons consist of different improv-acting games, projection techniques, and monologue and role studies. You will learn how to communicate a message to the audience clearly and effectively while having a wonderful time!

My language and tutoring classes are focused on fluency-getting comfortable speaking in the target language. We go through chapters of a lesson plan I created myself-learning vocabulary and grammar by learning the functions of them and completing speaking goals. After just a few lessons, you will find that you will be able to converse in your target language. Your individual pace is the most important to me, so we learn at the speed that you are the most comfortable with.

All I expect from you is to bring a pencil, a good attitude, and the willingness to practice and work hard in our lessons, and I will supply the rest! Looking forward to hearing your beautiful music or voice!

About Reut
Hello there!

I am a trombonist and teacher, with many years of experience teaching Hebrew as well as music.

As a music teacher I have worked with children starting from private lessons to young children beginning to learn, up to master classes in universities worldwide. I love teaching, and I feel confident teaching trombone and trumpet up to advanced level. For piano, I would prefer to stay with beginners and young ones only :) - but I promise you they will have a wonderful experience (and yes, I do have 8 years of piano studies under my belt).

I am thrilled to be working with Ariella Edvy in my quest to learn Hebrew. Her approach of using music and video clips to teach make her lessons fun and relevant. But there are two things that really set her apart -- her art of teaching elocution (she makes you feel it!) and her way of modeling her lessons to each individual's learning style.

Though I provide many of the materials, Biblical Hebrew lessons will be based on "The First Hebrew Primer." For more experienced students, I can assist in the study of the weekly Torah portion, or any other Biblical or rabbinic text desired. I look forward to working with you!

About Eliezer

I was a yeshiva teacher in NY for over 10 years and have privately tutored in Hebrew and Jewish topics for the past 20 years. I have made it my mission to make it easier for people from all backgrounds and walks of life to gain a basic knowledge of Biblical and Jewish texts and the languages they are written in. Over the years, I have taught Biblical Hebrew, Aramaic and Yiddish, as well as a wide range of Jewish texts and topics.

I am married to my high school sweetheart and have 3 wonderful children. In addition to languages and Jewish studies, I have a keen interest in music, philosophy and Medieval History.

Hi! I am passionate about teaching! Hebrew is a fun language to learn, using puppets, props, flashcards, songs and so much more. We explore letters, vowels, root words, prefixes and suffixes, building essential skills for communicating in Hebrew as well as reading Hebrew in a newspaper or a Siddur. Let's start exploring today!

About Gilah
I am a professional religious school, early childhood and elementary school teacher. I graduated from Arizona State University with a Master's Degree in Education. I have been teaching Hebrew to all ages, preschool through fifth grade, since 1989. I can also teach children and adults who speak other languages to speak and read English.

Hebrew and English students can expect to improve week to week in their ability to speak, read and write in Hebrew. I can help students to gain not only skills, but confidence in their comprehension and communication in Hebrew and in English. Each lesson is tailored to the specific academic needs, interests and age, or maturity of the student. Adapting the lesson to the learner enables them to stay engaged and to see their progress.

During the lessons, students will learn letters, vowels, prefix
es, roots, and suffixes, which will aide in the building of vocabulary whether reading with vowels or not. This process builds not only decoding skills, but also comprehension skills. It's always great to more fully understand the prayers being chanted from the Siddur, or even understand a Facebook post written in Hebrew.

I look forward to meeting you and joining you on your journey of learning to read, speak and write in Hebrew or English.

My knowledge of Semitic linguistics - except for Modern and Biblical Hebrew I know many other Semitic languages, like different dialects of Aramaic. Such a knowledge helps to understand the syntax of Hebrew, its morphology and structure on a deeper level, which, in its own turn, helps a student to grasp the features of a new language faster.

About Mikhail
I started teaching and tutoring soon I graduated form an Oriental department of Saint Petersburg Un-ty, Russia. I taught both Biblical and Modern Hebrew in different universities in Russia and in Israel. At the same time I was tutoring - mainly helping with the language to those who decided to move to Israel and to children.

About Noa
Dear Students,

I’m a born and bred Israeli who graduated from Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Ben Gurion’s dream university in the middle of the southern desert. I served in the IDF, trained to use an UZI.

Although I managed offices and was a top salesperson for Jet Lag Jeans, I always gravitated back to teaching Hebrew. Working with five-year-olds, i developed interactive dance and word games. Teaching ten-year-olds, I drew pictures of Hebrew words, creating stories where students practiced new vocabulary. For young adults, taught vocabulary, then designed groups and pairings to use the new vocabulary in conversation.

In tutoring, I work from a student’s strengths to build confidence and introduce new challenging material in steps, simplifying as we go. Mastering new concepts with my students is my specialty.

I hold a do
uble major in Behavioral Science and Human Resources. I won scholarships for academic excellence three years in a row at the university. I have a teaching certificate for Jazz/Modern instruction. The IDF sent me to learn computer programs and I received an Excel, Windows Certificate. From the Omega Institute in Tel Aviv, Israel, I am a certified psycho therapist who is qualified to counsel people.

Seeing a student change in front of my eyes is beautiful. Helping students master a language created with the birth of Israel gives me satisfaction. Guiding learning with my students until they believe in themselves rewards me as well as them.
