Paul 's positive attitude and excitement for making music is a major factor in a good instructor. His encouragement and wanting you to learn makes the lessons challenging. If you listen to his expert musical advise, practice what he teaches, you will see a vast improvement in your playing ability and understanding of music. He is patient and has a good temperament that makes learning fun. I know I have challenged him with my rhythm issues but I have progressed to a level in a short time that I am confident in playing with others and enjoy making music. Thanks Paul!

I have a Bachelors degree in Viola Performance, and have had 18 years of education on both violin and viola, in solo, orchestral, and chamber music settings (my favorite!). "Excited about learning more!!!

Mark is an excellent teacher. He helped me correct my stand and holding the violin and hand position which has me playing much better. We had to back up to the basics but that will help me be a better violinist. He also has been flexiable about changing dates and time to fit my needs. I recommend him to anyone!"

"My main instrument is piano/violin, and I have taken a year of violin lessons during my composition studies in Austria. I wanted to focus on my string instrument writing and also develop my violin playing skills (at the age of 33!).

Dr. Elizabeth proved herself to be a great teacher, who didn't only make my lessons fun (believe me, it's not that easy when you are at a certain age), but also made made things very interesting to me by relating the techniques I learned to string instrument writing (which is an amazing experience for a composer!).

Sometimes when I arrived early for my lessons, I observed Dr. Elizabeth with children and talked to some of the students' parents. They all speak highly of her and are very happy with their children's musical development.

I am (also) a music teacher at UC Berkeley, and have seen all kinds of teachers throughout my career and I can confidently say that you can't go wrong with Dr. Elizabeth. I still continue my weekly lessons and am amazed how much I've developed as a violinist since we started working together.

Thank you Dr. Elizabeth, see you next week!"
