I am a guitar instructor with 40+ years of playing/teaching experience. I possess a thorough knowledge of the instrument. Focus on proper technique for all students, regardless of his/her playing ability. Once proper technique is established, I utilize the Berklee method as a basis for instruction. These volumes are supplemented by exercises, which I write specifically for the particular student’s needs. As the student progresses, I incorporate tunes that the student wishes to learn into the lesson plan. I teach ages 10 and up - all skill levels. In addition to guitar, I also teach theory, composition, arrangement and film scoring Education 1975-1978 Berklee College of Music, Boston MA Majored in composition & arranging. 1979-1981 Houston Baptist University Majored in composition 1982-1984 University of Houston Additional music history & advanced theory study

I love teaching, and strive to ensure that each student meets his/her personal goals. My lesson environment is relaxed; I feel that if the student cannot get a little fun out of it, something is missing. I do, however, expect my students to practice and to pay attention. I enjoy t

Harold from day one has been great. He understands the difficulties in learning to play a music instrument. He gives you enough material to practice and master before the next lesson and makes you accountable for it. So great balance for a teacher that actually cares for his students. Not to much but enough that you see progress in learning how to play the guitar.
very relaxed atmosphere, very knowledgeable and friendly teacher. My playing is already improving.

I have been playing viola for 20+ years and I adore the sound and feel of the instrument. Playing viola has some unique challenges that make it just a bit more special than some of the other string instruments. I like tailor my lessons to the needs of each student. I like to focus on literature written specifically for the viola with some violin transcriptions. I strive to develop good musicianship, understanding of basic theory and good technique in both hands.

I have been teaching children of all age groups to acquire a solid foundation in violin playing. Whether it be pre-K beginners, or high school students getting ready for college auditions, I will communicate with the students and parents to set a number of goals to achieve.
I also welcome adult students, beginners and amateur enthusiasts alike.
In addition to gaining expertise in the techniques in violin playing, students in my studio will be given opportunities to gain comprehensive music knowledge including theory, sight singing, ear training, and any relevant music history, as the above-mentioned knowledge are indispensable elements in violin playing. Singing and clapping are essential parts of the lesson. When students are equipped with the basics, they can play anything and make the music they want.

Ms. Minoo is very professional, always on time, kind, gentle, and a joy to have as a music teacher."

I would say that within six months of weekly lessons with him I was working on sight reading music in two or three genres at moderate tempos, I was able to learn songs from listening, and I was honing my technique to bluegrass playing and going to bluegrass jams in New York. He was always attuned to my level and to what I was doing with my playing. He put a great deal of thought into lesson planning and chose to work on pieces that appealed to my individual taste, prepared me for the musical community I was breaking into, and generally kept my momentum up during my first year of mandolin playing and got me to a place I was really happy with. He was on the line when I upgraded my mandolin, because when you’re dropping a couple grand on something you call your sensei. And he was and is a great sensei.
One of my biggest musical hurdles, if not my biggest, is performance anxiety. Andrew has a great disposition for making people feel relaxed in a lesson setting; he’s an easygoing, sensitive and cool guy who can show up for you wherever you happen to be that week. He also has a really great dog named Ryder who liked to hang out during lessons.
I would 10/10 1,000% recommend Andrew. If he is not already your mandolin teacher, hire him and congratulate yourself! You are on your way to mandolin greatness."

Thank you,
Promila"
