Cello:
A bowed or plucked string instrument with four strings tuned in perfect fifths. The strings from low to high are generally tuned to C2, G2, D3 and A3, an octave lower than the viola. It is a member of the violin family of musical instruments, which also includes the violin and viola and the double bass. The cello is used as a solo musical instrument, as well as in chamber music ensembles (e.g., string quartet), string orchestras, as a member of the string section of symphony orchestras, and some types of rock bands. It is the second-largest and second lowest (in pitch) bowed string instrument in the modern symphony orchestra, the double bass being the largest and having the lowest (deepest) pitch. My lessons always start out with the basics! We start out by learning notes by plucking the strings and then the bow is soon incorporated. The goal is to eventually learn all the notes on the fretboard and also learning how to read and play chords. As the student progresses ...

Karen is an incredibly skillful teacher. She is very passionate about music and it easy to be comfortable with her. She shares her training and knowledge very clearly. The vocal exercises seem very unique and holistic for body and voice health. She is very encouraging, caring, and soul-uplifting. I feel like I have a new connection with my voice and all that is connected to using it... as an instrument and the journey is only just starting. 45 minutes went by so fast. I am looking forward to my next lessons.

I thought I wanted to take viola lessons. Then I read her website and I realized that she might be able to help me get my voice back! I thought there was no hope ever. She has been extremely generous with her time, and I haven't seen her yet, but I'm not buying the viola I was planning on buying. I play cello, and piano still, but I am going to see if she can help me with my voice. She sounds incredible. I never dreamed that I could even have HOPE like this!

Clark is the best teacher I have ever had! He’s so patient with me and has made the transition from in person to online lessons so easy. I would highly recommend him for any of your music needs. He is very knowledgeable about all of the subjects he teaches and he is able to explain everything in many ways so that I can understand. You can’t find a better teacher.

Wow! I have never enjoyed playing the piano more than I have taking lessons from Clark. He has helped me a lot with the technical aspects of playing but has always helped me to understand how an emotional connection to the music is important as well. I’ve improved by 3 books within a short time period because of his patience. He also takes notes during our lessons and sends me a copy of them so that I can review while I practice. I have recommended his teaching to several of my friends and he is going to start teaching my nephew soon. Great teacher! And makes learning an instrument a great experience!
Juliet
My kids have been taking from C. Evans for almost three years. Not only has their musicianship improved, so has their confidence! He has been able to directly improve my kid’s musical experiences and helped them with auditions for school amongst other things. He encourages them while providing high class teaching. My kid’s never leave their lessons discouraged or bored but always ready to learn more music and excited for the next lesson. He is very communicative and will always work with your schedule and inevitable conflicts. I HIGHLY recommend him for piano/cello/music theory lessons.

"Kristen has been a wonderful cello teacher for our daughter. She has always helped with school orchestra pieces as well as provided a wide variety of other work to explore - both classical and contemporary.

I cannot recommend her highly enough. Kristen has supported and motivated our daughter to become a better cellist, has greatly improved her knowledge of music theory, and it has been a joy for me to listen to them play every week."

"Johnny is experienced in teaching cello. His lessons are always passionate, musical, and informative. There are several aspects of his lessons that I'd like to share.

1. Full of Content: He delivers enough details of a new technique with simplification for an easy understanding.
2. Learning Curve: By breaking down and reorganizing the knowledge, he teaches new concepts step by step, from approachable actions to efficient actions.
3. Customization: He helps you find out a suitable solution to grow on the techniques based on your own physical and cognitive characteristics.
4. Experimentation: The correct ways he suggests you do is demonstrated by experimenting with different ways for comparison, which you would not only know what to do but know the reason behind it.

Cello is a beautiful yet complicated instrument. To enjoy it, a great mentorship is necessary and truly valued."

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
