If you take guitar lessons with me, you can expect to be able to read and play notes as well as chords. You will be able to take music written for other instruments or voice and translate it to guitar music. I have been teaching guitar for 30 years. I use a variety of teaching books which also include fun pop music or what ever style that you are interested in playing. I believe that lessons should be taken every week as it keeps the progression of learning and interest going. If it is your interest to sing and accompany yourself with the guitar, I can do that for you also.

About Wendy
With music programs being eliminated from many school's education, I feel it is even more important than ever for children, off all ages, to participate in some form of musical experience. Being a piano teacher for over twenty five years, I have seen many benefits for those taking music lessons. Some of these benefits are building self esteem and confidence, learning to focus, developing mental discipline, overcoming the fear of getting up in front of crowds, not to mention being able to play songs that we enjoy.

My philosophy of music is that you don't have to be an expert to be able to enjoy playing an instrument. It is not that difficult to learn to play piano or guitar; it just takes a little time and effort. I believe that practicing doesn't have to be hours a day either, unless you want to be a concert pianist or guitari
st, but you can accomplish a lot with 15 to 30 minutes of practice each day. There is time to fit music in with many other activities that we like to do. So keep that in mind as you are deciding how you can fit music lessons into your daily schedule.

I studied guitar for five years, then began to take piano lessons which continued through many years of my life. I studied under many classical teachers, and teaching methods such as Royal Conservatory of Music and Western Board. These lessons also included Music Theory. As I developed as a musician, I began to play piano and guitar in churches for worship services. I also accompanied soloists, both vocal and instrumental, and played for many special events such as weddings, funerals, graduations, etc. Eventually, I stepped into music ministry, which included planning music for church services, working with children's music programs, leading, rehearsing, and directing choirs etc. I have taught choir and music theory in schools over the years, as well.

At some point in my life, I decided it was important for me to go for a music degree. This degree gave me four years of classical vocal training, more classical piano instruction, and ensemble work. It also gave me more experience with directing choirs and orchestras.

My formal education is: Bachelor of Arts in Music Ministry with Applied Music.

Church Piano Certification

College Level Music Theory and Classical Voice

*** Lesson Details ***
When taking lessons from me, students can expect to work hard, but have lots of fun. Their music training will be very detailed and will include all aspects of learning music. In addition to learning how to read music and play piano or guitar well, students will learn theory and technic. Theory teaches students the understanding of how music is written; this will assist them in the future is their interests turn to writing and arranging music. Technique is the exercises for their fingers which teaches them control and agility. I accept students of all ages and abilities up to advanced intermediate levels in piano, guitar, and music theory. I accept beginning vocal students.

Piano lessons consist of learning to play and read music. Students can expect to be classically trained, but will also get to choose and play songs or musical styles that they enjoy. Theory and technique will be included in their study program.

Guitar lessons consist of learning how to play both notes and chords, and how to read both notes and chords, as well as lead sheets specifically written for guitar. Students will also learn the written theory for guitar. I like to include extra books of songs or music styles that the students like. This encourages them to learn and practice because they are playing something that they know and like to play.

Beginning classical vocal students will learn basic breathing technics, vocal exercises and will sings a variety of songs. I don't start out with classical vocal unless that is what the student wants. I let them choose music that they like to sing, as we can learn and practice vocal concepts with all types of music. I encourage vocal students to take at least basic piano lessons, so they can learn to read and understand musical concepts.

Music theory goes along with any instrument and vocal instruction. Piano theory is the basis for all music theory. I have the ability to teach through college level theory for those that are interested in writing or arranging music or wanting to have this level of theory to go along with their musical instrument.

Practice times start at 15 minutes a day, 5 days a week for beginners. As students progress, their practice time increases. Advanced beginners will practice 30 minutes a day, early intermediate level will practice 45 minutes a day, and intermediate level will practice at least 1 hour a day.

I encourage students to take one lesson a week for 1/2 hour. As they advance, then this may increase to a 45 minute lesson, once a week, then perhaps 1 hour once a week as needed.

After 3 months, beginning students will be able to play simple folk songs with right hand melody and left hand accompaniment. At 6 months, students will have learned 3 different positions or keys on the piano, will be playing songs that are a little more complex, and can now add supplemental fun books to their lessons. I encourage my students to participate in two recitals a year. I try to make this a fun, not a stressful, time for them. I also encourage family and friends to attend and cheer on the students. If students wish to compete in music competitions or adjudications, I can assist them in doing so, as well.

There are studio locations in Colorado Springs, Colorado 80917 and Falcon, Colorado 80831

*** Studio Equipment ***

*** Travel Equipment ***

*** Specialties ***

I can teach classical, rock, metal, acoustic, lead, country, blues, scales. Have been playing for twenty years and I am in 3 gigging bands.

About Ben
Hello, my name is Ben and GUITAR IS MY BUSINESS...AND MY BUSINESS IS GOOD so please consider me. I've been playing guitar for over 18 years and have been in playing bands for 12 years. Recently after the band broke up, I decided to further my education and went to Musicians Institute in Hollywood California. There I was taught by the best guitar players in the world. Marty Friedman, Paul Gilbert, Scott Henderson, Tommy Emmanuel and Johnny Hiland were just a few of the great players who gave clinics there. I received a degree in Guitar Performance and the knowledge I received there made me UNDERSTAND the mystery that is the guitar.

I can teach Rock/Metal, Country (lead and rhythm), Blues, Alternative, Acoustic, Classical, Chord Melody, Melodic Soloing, Twang, Chords, Scales, Modes, Many different lead and rhythm techniques a
nd more importantly any song you want to go over.

I feel learning to play your favorite songs is the most important and the most fun about guitar playing. After playing songs, some of the information given (scales, chords, theory, ear-training) starts to make some since and you begin to slowly figure the guitar out.

Theory and Ear-training I feel are very important to learn when trying to understand music. It just gives you a basic mathematical way of understanding how music works. It can be very frustrating to learn and takes some time to sink in so if you don't want to learn it then that is great. Ear-training is cool because when you start to understand it you can actually hear music and not just listen to it. You can listen to a chord progression on the radio and go home and play it and also improvise over it.

I encourage BEGINNERS through EXPERT to at least hear what I have to say. I have A LOT of information to give about the guitar. I played for ten years made 2 demo CDs, one full length album, another demo specifically for Metal Blade Records, was in a big cover band and so I thought I knew it all and was a great guitar player. Then I went to GUITAR SCHOOL in Hollywood and reality hit me.
I wasn't as good as I thought. When you hear the best guitar players in the world everyday for a year and a half like I did at Musicians Institute it makes you want to be better and practice, practice, practice. I learned everything there about guitar and music and I know the Right way to teach.

Please consider me for your guitar teacher I will make it fun and a good learning experience as well.

Thank you,
Ben

*** Lesson Details ***
It depends on what level the student is on and that is where we will go with the lesson. If you are a beginner we will start with the very basics. I try to make it to where you can easily understand everything taught. The most important part of the lesson is you are having fun with playing the guitar and also getting as much information as possible. Upper level students may want to go over a song they are learning or want to know about theory or chords. Usually we will talk about where you are at with your playing and then go from there.

Thanks.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Acoustic and electric guitar PA system, small amplifier for student

*** Travel Equipment ***
Books and paper. They should have guitar and pick

*** Specialties ***
Teaching Rock, metal, country lead, blues, ear training, theory solo improvization. Scales and chords and how they go together. Melodic soloing and chord melody. Can teach out of a book and can read music. But most importantly have fun and learn cool songs

Beginner to advanced.
Guitar is the greatest instrument in the world. No other instrument has it's versatility, it's range of techniques, or it's expressive capability.
I am first and foremost a guitar player. I've been playing for almost 30 years, and can teach multiple styles and techniques.

About Ray
Born in Arlington, Texas, I began playing guitar and bass guitar in high school. After studying for several years under Joey Faust, I studied Jazz, Classical Guitar, and Music Theory at TCC in Fort Worth. I began teaching in my free time to friends and family in 2003; by 2008 I was teaching full time, my students ranging in age from 3 to over 70. I also play piano, mandolin, banjo, ukulele, and auto harp.

*** Lesson Details ***
I believe lessons should be fun, so all lessons are tailored to the individual student, based on the student's interests and goals. Students are free to progress at their own pace, and to choose their own learning material. Styles and techniques include Rock, Country, Blues, Bluegrass, Jazz, Shred, Slide Guitar, Classical Guitar, and Slap Bass, to name a few.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in my home stud
io are definitely more beneficial to the student, because I have all my toys here! Besides having all of my other instruments here for demonstrations, or being able to freely change between electric or acoustic guitar for example.
I also find that students who are at home (especially the children) tend to be more distracted, whether it's from lack of privacy due to the area chosen for the lessons, or often (again, this goes especially for the kids) there are pets that they like to play with while I'm trying to talk to them.
When they're guests in my home, however, I find I have their strict attention.

*** Specialties ***
I am primarily a guitar player specializing in electric lead guitar and solo acoustic guitar/vocal performance. I also teach beginner to advanced bass guitar, primarily finger-style.

Well...I've been playing since the 3rd grade and teaching since my mid twenties. I have had many students go on to do very well.

In Nashville I played acoustic guitar in the studio almost every day for 15 years....and lots of electric guitar too.

lead - rhythm - acous - elec - finger picking - distorted - clean - blues - rock - country - jazz too

About Billy
I teach my students how to understand how music is put together so they can learn even more on their own.

I read, write, and play all styles and I focus on teaching the student fundamentals that work in all styles of music ....AND I get them going on the style they are interested in - pop, rock, country, folk, etc.

I have spent my entire life in the music industry and I can show you how to use what I teach to apply to the real world. I have also been a successful songwriter and I can work with students to learn about song structure and song writing.

I am also good at preparing students for college music classes.

*** Lesson Details ***
I like to break it down into small steps and accomplish them, then move on to the next.

Each person learns differently and I am good at connecting with how you learn - then we can use a boo
k or CD or not according to your needs.

I have several books to choose from as well as CDs and other tools. BUT .....some things are learned best through 1 on 1 instruction and explanation without a book.

I like to see progress every week and I usually do.

*** Studio Equipment ***
recording studio w/ seating for parents

*** Travel Equipment ***
Student needs instrument only to start and discuss from there.
I have many tuners, metronomes, props, books, etc

*** Specialties ***
I teach using modern popular songs as vehicles but back up examples with theory and some reading and ear training.
I usually get quick results and my students can understand the music as well as play it.

I've had four lessons so far with Steve, and I am so pleased with how it is going! Steve is very skilled, patient, kind, punctual and professional. He responds to all my questions, and is very encouraging. He comes to my office in Pasadena to give me my lesson.

I find that the biggest challenge in learning something new, is keeping my own internal critic under control as I struggle with note reading, and learn how to play the guitar. The fact that Steve is so patient and never critical helps to offset my internal critic. I have felt self doubting in the first two lessons, but by lesson 3, I am confident that if I keep practicing and working with Steve, eventually I will get it.

Steve also shared info re his Taylor Mini guitar which is much smaller than the typical guitar, easier for me to play because the frets are smaller for smaller hands. I just bought my own Taylor Mini, a beautiful instrument which also inspires me to keep at it! Steve is also introducing some popular songs starting in lesson 3, which also makes it more enjoyable.

This is one of the best decisions I have made for myself, and I am very happy that I was lucky to find Steve. He's great!

Most students desire three things from an instructor - patience, flexibility, and a thorough knowledge of their subject. I offer all three! i have had many students come to me who have tried learning on their own, from the internet, or from other local instructors, but have become frustrated. After a few lessons, my students have a well defined "road map", practice schedules, and a great start to achieving their goals. I look forward to helping you soon!!

About Dennis
Two of my major passions? Playing guitar and teaching others to play. I view playing as a lifelong challenge and have never stopped learning. I have been playing for 40+ years and teaching for 15 years. I go easy on theory initially - especially with younger students - and try to gear the lessons to what a students wants to learn and play.

I play and teach all types of music - blues, country, pop, rock, you name it - and have trained and taught in other fields throughout my career, so I know what it takes to connect with a student. I look forward to helping you today!

When I’m teaching guitar, all of my musical experience comes into play to create a fun, creative, and immersive experience for the student. I utilize fun music theory/ear-training exercises to sharpen each student's musical understanding/ear, while also focusing on the skills needed to be able to play with others. I mix elements of the traditional Hal Leonard method to ensure sheet music reading with my own curriculum of modern pop/rock songs, scales, strumming, and various other techniques. Overall, I make sure learning the instrument is fun, no matter what age or skill level you are. After all, fun is what kept me playing music consistently all these years! If you (or your child) are looking for not just the basic skills, but a creative approach to playing guitar through interactive music games and a unique curriculum, I'm the right teacher for you! I've been playing guitar for twenty years and teaching it for the past seven years to kids and adults of all ages.

About Blake
I am a musician and teacher living in Seattle, WA. I have been a part of many different aspects of the music world, both in Seattle and in my old home of Brooklyn, NY. I've written, recorded, and toured the world with a a variety of rock bands, I've composed music for film projects, and most recently I've begun teaching music to kids and adults of all ages and skill levels. When I’m teaching a lesson all my musical experience comes into play to create an immersive, creative, and thoughtful experience. Both my formal musical training and history of playing in bands helps me incorporate the power of creativity and improvisation into every lesson. My degree in Music Composition has allowed me to create engaging theory/ear-training games and exercises to sharpen a student's ear and musical understanding. My experience in bands over the years
ensures a focus on being able to play with others, harmony, and keeping consistent rhythm. It also helps out when learning the chords to the latest pop single! Overall, I make sure learning the instrument is fun, no matter what age or skill level the student is. After all, fun is what kept me playing music all these years!

Though I started without too much experience in music or in guitar playing, Andrew demonstrated a lot of patience to ensure that I master the basics. His patience is definitely a rare trait for a musician who is as accomplished as Andrew, and in my opinion demonstrates not only his commit to music, but also his passion for sharing the joy of guitar to everyone.
