Beginner to advanced.
Ukulele is a wonderful instrument. It's very easy to learn, portable, and it makes people smile. The ukulele has enjoyed a tremendous return to popularity over the last few years.
Ukulele lessons are mostly focused on learning chords. It doesn't take long at all to start learning songs. For those more ambitious players, there are plenty of more advanced techniques, such as fingerstyle.

Students will learn how to express their thoughts, musically, on the ukulele. They will learn how to listen for ideas and use music literacy to interpret those ideas in a variety of contemporary genres.

About Joel

I started playing recognizable melodies on the piano at 18 months old. At that time I was told that I even had perfect pitch. By age 5, my mother started giving me classical, gospel, and improvisational lessons. I was one of her 50 students until my senior year in high school. Through elementary

Joel is clearly very passionate and well versed in the language and study of music, providing a solid foundation for anyone wanting to learn the dynamics of music and performance. He doesn’t just teach mechanics, he teaches you the how and the understanding so you come away with more than the knowledge of how to play a few songs. He tailors the curriculum and home practice around the student’s unique interests to blend enjoyment and knowledge in a way that keeps you excited about music!

Andy has been a lifesaver during the pandemic! Before working with Andy, I felt like music was off limits to me. I went from zero experience to being competent in multiple instruments. I started with banjo and later went into acoustic guitar, electric guitar, harmonica, and a DAW.

His flexible teaching style was responsive to my musical growth and interests. As we went, Andy sprinkled in some easy to understand music theory. I learned a lot of my favorite songs (including several out of the mainstream). He worked with me to adapt songs written for guitar to banjo. He also helped me to pick quality instruments that were right for me and my budget.

Highly recommend!

"Jenn was a fantastic instructor! I had always wanted to learn an instrument and when I was gifted a ukulele I immediately started looking for a teacher. She was patient and kind with instruction. She gave me plenty of music sheet to practice our weekly songs which I could use as homework throughout the week. She also went over strengthening and dexterity exercises and fingerpicking exercises. I had to end our lesson due to schedule constraints at work but I know she also teaches guitar and I hope to work with her to learn this instrument in the future!"
