Bonjour a tous!

Dear French Students,

A native French speaker, I have been tutoring students of all levels since 2008. I was the main French and German Instructor at the San Jose Learning Center in the Silicon Valley before moving to New York.

The core of my lessons are drawn from a language book, which allows everyone to work at his or her own pace during the week.

The lessons always begin with a dialogue, no matter your level. From how you are feeling, to what you did during the week, to the weather of your best friend's gossip, we warm up with a conversation I type out as we go.

The rest of the lesson is then spent reviewing previous work and introducing new material in a variety of ways, constantly setting a rule in practice. Poems, songs or texts, depending on your interest, keep the content alive and interesting.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

I hope to hear from you, meet you, and work with you!

Sincerely,
Gabrielle

I like to start with teaching songs and reading books beginning with basic children’s’ books and continuing with more difficult reading material including newspapers and articles...
Je suis prête à vous aider et je vous encourage à commencer tout de suite :) Bonne chance

About Marie
Indulge yourself by learning languages. It opens your prospect to a new different world with a different culture, you feel like you gain a new person and a new experience while networking with new people around you. I personally admire languages and would like to share this passion with you. I invite you to start expanding your horizon by choosing a new language.
I came recently to U.S. and I was tutoring languages "Arabic, French and English" back in my country. I hope to build a good reputation here too with my students. I'm so patient toward kids, and I like to innovate methods to engage
early learners (songs, stories, games...). My only goal is to reach your needs and desire to learn then proceed from there in a fun immersion method.

My strong interest for languages oriented me towards a "Literature Baccalaureate" for which I studied - among other fields - German, English, Ancient Greek and Latin, and graduated Summa cum Laude in 2010. After high school, I went on to study for five years at Sciences Po Paris, France's elite school for social and political sciences.

Learning about the hidden history of words and the construction of sentences has always fascinated me, and I strongly believe that this is what makes the difference between a regular native speaker, and one who can actually transmit his knowledge of the language. Writing and speaking a proper french is not enough. When it comes to teaching, one has to be able to explain the "why" behind each word, idiom and grammatical rule, because that is how we remember best. Combined with a burning desire to understand movies, songs and books in their original version, this method makes wonders. Because as my best teacher once told me : “ We get into a culture ...
