1st lesson went great! Ms. Depauw is knowledgeable with music theory, and techniques that I am using to help me re-learn sharps, this includes practicing scales (groan). I look forward to working with Ms. Depauw to help me improve my playing, and since I play for my Church, I know they will appreciate the lessons. LOL

Peter Furlong is a teacher who instills solid technique in a way that sticks, and in a way that makes you want to sing even more. His emphasis on supple, supported breath is the foundation upon which all other great work can be built. His knowledge of diction in classical/opera languages is extremely helpful in getting audition pieces polished. He is an encouraging, enthusiastic teacher and I would recommend him to anyone!

Welcome to my studio!

As a teacher, I believe it’s my job to learn along with the student. Each student’s voice is like a fingerprint, completely unique! There is no “one size fits all” approach to discovering your voice, but I would love to help you find the techniques, exercises, and methods that best help you meet your goals!

Our job as singers is to tell a story. From my experience as a performer, I guide my students through the process of creating music that is, not only, technically proficient, but also fun, interesting; and moving.

Singing, in any style or genre, requires a solid foundation rooted in technique, emotional connection, and physical awareness. By helping you cultivate these three things, I aim to help you love your voice and share your talent with the world.

No matter what your singing goals are, you deserve to be confident in your singing! I want to help! Please reach out to me to ask questions, go over policies, or book your first lesson!

I have started online singing lessons with Michaela 6 months ago and I am located in Europe. I did not expect online lessons to turn out so effective! Learning singing with Michaela is a journey to discover my voice, to learn how to use it properly and freely. She created a great space where I try, improve, and finally grow more and more confident in singing. She provides knowledge as well as good atmosphere, shares tips and focuses on the needs of the student. I wholeheartedly recommend her lessons.

Michaela is an excellent teacher, and I highly recommend contacting her if you’re looking to learn about vocal techniques and singing! I started taking voice lessons with Michaela a few months ago and I have learned so much already. Michaela is very patient and has offered so many different tools to help me accomplish my goals. Anytime I start to feel frustrated or like I can’t do something, she offers a different technique to try to correct the problem until we find something that works for me personally. She’s also extremely versatile in her singing ability. Michaela and I have worked on country songs, pop songs; any song and any genre of music that I’ve been interested in learning Michaela has been knowledgeable and helpful with. Michaela is also super easy to get along with and just an overall very kind person which makes working with her even better!
Angela S.
Michaela is such a great teacher. She really cares about the progress of her students and makes sure the student is learning in each lesson. Very easy to work with. Michaela is an exceptional teacher because I can see a lot of improvement with my voice and find it much easier to sing Opera than before. She helped me remove the strain and expanded my range.
Michaela demonstrates exercises very well and helps you understand how singing works from different aspects - how it mechanically works and how you feel different notes and vowels. I could feel improvement very early in my lessons. Michaela can definitely help you learn how to broaden your range and have a rich sound while maintaining healthy voice/vocal cords.

"I would not have been prepared whatsoever for the (what seemed like) never ending process of college auditioning. While college auditions are typically anxiety boosters, Michelle and Robert’s technique and ways of preparation over prepared me to the point where the audition was a breeze. With their help using mock auditions including sight singing, how to self warm up, posture and the necessity for 3-5 pieces of repertoire that fit my image and sound, I would not be where I am today. I knew nothing of the tediousness that a college audition was. Throughout my practice we worked on acting, something I needed major reform on. With practice, my acting made me more confident performing my piece as well as engaged my audience. Without both of their motivation and push I would not have succeeded the way I did and my audition would have been a lot bigger and scarier, when in reality it wasn’t. The biggest help for me, I believe was the mock auditions. With constant practices that mimicked the actual audition, this prepared me both mentally and physically for what the actual procedure would be like. I practiced entering the room as well as greeting the judges, something I hadn’t thought of prior. Interacting with the judges seemed a lot less nerve racking with the use of practice questions and how to answer them in a polite and engaging way. As we continued to practice, my nerves subsided. It became routine and over prepared me for the actual audition. Without Robert and Michelle’s aid I would not have been able to overcome some of my personal anxieties as well as succeed the way I did. Their constant motivation and cheer helped my nerves and allowed me to completely relax yet stay focused when practicing. I wouldn’t have the confidence I have today without their help aiding me in my vocal presentation and interaction with school officials/judges. Any student would be extremely lucky to have Michelle and Robert prepare them for college. With their tough work ethic and constant motivation, success surely follows."

"I first started taking voice lessons from Laura Spaulding in 1998 when I was a freshman in high school. She did an excellent job at teaching me proper vocal technique through vocal exercises and breathing exercises. I learned to take proper care of my singing voice while I was growing up and my voice was still developing. I learned the importance of not belting and not doing anything to damage my voice and impair and even possibly lose my ability to sing in the future. She is very good at teaching her students to take proper care of their natural instrument so they can share it with the world their whole lives. Because of how she trained my voice I am a classically trained singer with ability to sing musical theater as well. I currently sing in my church choir and do local community theater plays. Those are just two examples of what I'm able to do as a result of Laura Spaulding's voice training. I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking to learn how to sing and have opportunities open up as a result."

"Ms. Rebecca has taught one of my twin daughters since she was in kindergarten and now she is a freshman in high school, and the other daughter since about 5th grade. Both have learned the fundamentals of how to sing, the right techniques, the right approaches to new music, how to preserve their voice when doing certain types of songs (not to strain their voices and cause damage), etc. Ms. Rebecca has been an invaluable guide to the world of musical theater and classical songs (including opera). And she has helped my daughters prepare for various competitions that they have both done well in, reflecting the excellent foundation and skills Ms. Rebecca has fostered."
