Gretchen Conrad is a trained classical vocalist and emerging composer. In 2014, she graduated from Cornish College of the Arts with a Bachelor of Music. She is a founding member of Fine Rain Falling, an all-female a cappella ensemble, and a member of the St. James Women's Schola in Seattle, WA. My lessons are highly personalized as I believe that there is no one path for every student. The Ukulele is such a fun instrument to play. It's a small instrument with a big sound. There is actually 4 different sizes you can choose from: Soprano, Concert, Tenor, and Baritone. The first 3 have the same string arrangement which is
G, C, E, A, and the Baritone is D, G, B, E, which is the same tuning as the first 4 strings on a guitar. Soprano is the smallest and the Baritone is the largest. If you want the true Hawaiian sound you need the Soprano. If you have really big hands or thick fingers you might want to go with the Concert or Tenor size so it will be easier to play.

They are very affordable instruments. The one I have is a Fender U Uke it was around 109.00. It's easier then guitar because you don't have to press down as hard on the strings.

Some of my favorite Ukulele players and bands that incorporate it are Jack Johnson, Brian May from Queen, Beach Boys, Elvis, Israel Iz, and many more.

I teach beginner to intermediate level for single and group lessons.

About Christian

Music is my passion. I've been playing music since I was a child but didn't get serious with it until I was 14, that's when I got my first electric guitar. So, from then on I've been playing and studying music for over 16 years. I play and teach guitar, piano, drums, and bass guitar. Aside from taki

Christian has been top-notch in every way I could hope for. His communication prior to and after the lesson has been stellar, taking time to prep me then follow up with thorough, well written tips and details. (It's clear that he values the student's time as much as his own, and seeks to make the experience individualized and worthwhile for those he teaches.) The lesson itself was spot-on, being well balanced in both fun and degree of challenge. Feel very fortunate to have found him!

Christian easily connects with my teenage son. He is professional while at the same time relaxed and easy-going. He stresses the importance of learning the basics but there is no high pressure. He strives to teach music that is interesting to my son and that challenges him. He does a great job of explaining things. We are happy we chose Christian as our teacher.

I feel so lucky to have discovered Kris on TakeLessons. Every lesson begins with him checking in on my progress in a variety of different areas and every lesson ends with notes of our session and different areas for me to practice before our next session. There's always a great mix of homework types that Kris lets you explore in a way that is organic and fun for how you want to learn. He will work with YOU to help find the lessons that inspire you to keep practicing and staying engaged. We also spend a decent amount of time on music theory and composition, so I feel like I'm actually learning the instrument and not just following patterns. Lastly, Kris has a high level of empathy and is great at encouraging his students. He always makes me feel good about the progress I'm making while still challenging me to be better. I can't recommend Kris enough.
Hershey
Kris is great .. always positive and upbeat. Clearly is masterful at understanding music theory and its applications to the piano. Working at a rapid pace and after just 3 lessons, I feel like I understand the piano. I would say that my understanding of some music theory (as a guitarist) helps me keep up with Kris, but he is a great listener and pauses when necessary.

Amazing instructor. I've come so far from working with him.

Michael is patient and kind but firm in his direction and has instilled confidence in my son that he can play whatever songs he wants to play with focus and practice. Sean and I hit it off instantly and the things I wanted to get better at (finger picking, hammer(s) on and off, picking the notes within chords, etc.) Sean was completely versed in! Long story short... I couldn't be happier with Sean as a teacher and as a person he's totally cool as well! I recommend Sean unequivocally and if you want to start to play guitar or even get better as I do, Sean is your guy, no doubt about it!!!"

"First off, Prophet X is not only a great musician, but also one of the best mentors I've had in my 5 years of rapping. He has encouraged me to write better, perform with excellence and continually up my game in a live audience. His prestigious wisdom is very impactful regarding audio engineering as well. He has definitely been a part of my shaping process as an artist and person. Moreover, his rates are lower than deserved. He deserves to be paid a lot more for his understanding of various topics in the arts."
