Max was a great teacher. I walked in wanting to learn better soloing techniques for my bluegrass guitar. With Max's help, I got over several humps in my playing and solo creating skills. If you're looking for a solid teacher that listens to what you have to say, Max is your teacher.

I am a beginner that was stuck with not knowing what to do with the knowledge I had from online sources, ie chords, scales and phrasing. Everything I did sounded the same because of my strumming patterns were all the same. Aimee got right to work in just the right area to help me hear new sounds by different strumming patterns. I am very pleased with Aimee's teaching style and environment. Looking forward to second lesson.

I play and teach many styles and guide my students through the genre of music that they feel most excited about. I explain/demonstrate technical aspects of playing, musicality and theory and show each student the quickest path to success.

About Josh
Hi there! My name is Josh. I have been playing guitar for the majority of my life and have been teaching since 2010. I have a music degree with a focus on classical guitar and I play rock, blues, jazz, folk, pop, and just about anything you want to learn. Whether your goals are to strum and sing, improvise, learn classical guitar or rock, or understand music theory, I want to help you reach them. Music is my life and I love being able to share every bit of knowledge I have with my students. It is a blast to watch my students progress and get excited about guitar.

As a player, I learned what to avoid and what to utilize in order to accelerate my playing as quickly as possible and you will save time and limit frustration with my methods. I will teach you how to practice, which is the single most important part of learning. Effecti
ve practice yields great results for everyone. Often teachers will only explain the "how"; I teach the "how" and the "why" so you will have ample knowledge to grow and explore on your own.

*** Lesson Details ***
I will teach you to play the songs/styles that you love. I provide my own transcription of each song and explain and demonstrate each element. Learn how to read music, create rhythms for strumming, build your chord knowledge, improvise, train your ear and understand song structures. We will coordinate a lesson plan that will fit your schedule and accelerate your learning.

I keep my lessons fun, upbeat and with a focus on each student's goals. I ensure full comprehension of all subjects covered, and make sure that each student is challenged and learning constantly.

My main word of advice is "Be patient." Learning an instrument takes time, practice and is a gradual process that is rewarding beyond words. Acknowledge every little improvement in your playing because that is what we want. I recommend a minimum of 2-3 separate 30 minute practice sessions. There's no reason to put it off any longer. Let's get started!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Plenty of parking, music stands, amp, effects pedals, extra picks, tuners, a comfortable setting, great attitude, and seating for parents. Students only need to have their guitar and a notebook.

*** Specialties ***
*Teachers marked as a Student Favorite have taught a minimum of 25 lessons and have received the highest feedback rating from students.

My experiences with Josh have been great. I have played guitar for many years, but my approach has always been lacking in relation to technique. Josh has helped me form a better mechanical understanding of my posture and movements. The adjustments he has helped me make have resulted in less stress on my fingers, wrist, and arms. He has always been thoroughly prepared for lessons. I would absolutely recommend Josh, especially for new musicians who want to learn their instrument in a fundamentally sound and detail oriented manner.

Been a student of Josh's for a few months now and feel very fortunate to have found him. His attention to detail, continuity between sessions, and obvious broad knowledge base are a few of the elements making this a very rewarding learning experience. I am learning to read music, understand music theory, and develop technique. I have very much looked forward to each lesson which Josh takes the time and effort to build upon with clear assignments and follow up. Josh is highly personable, professional and supportive. I highly recommend Josh.

I've been teaching guitar, acoustic and electric, for fifteen years. The first thing I like to do is get to know you, the music you enjoy and your goals. In a way, I like to begin by letting the student lead.

I believe anyone can play guitar. In most situations, we can learn the basics of playing some of your favorite songs in under a month. In the first few lessons we will learn open position chords and the basics of strumming and picking in 4/4 and 3/4 time. After you've memorized half a dozen or so songs this way, we can attempt barre chords and lead guitar playing.

About David
My name is David and I'm a professional musician who just moved to North Austin. I came from Cincinnati, where I went to the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, taught dozens of students at all levels and played regular gigs every weekend. I have been teaching for over fifteen years, and I'm looking to get a few new students.
I teach guitar, piano, bass guitar and even upright bass. If it's a tutor you are looking for I can also teach music theory and appreciation. I have a knack for teaching young people, probably because I was young when I started my musical journey. I've been very successful at inspiring a student's love of music and instilling the patience required to take on the challenge of playing an instrument.
The first thing I like to do is get to know you, the music you enjoy and your goals. In a way, I l
ike to begin by letting the student lead.
In addition to learning from you, I intend to present you with new information, to try and broaden your musical tastes and teach you how to be an active listener.

I've been working with Trevor for just over a year. His teaching goes beyond just dry technique and theory to answer the question "why am I doing this?" When you work with Trevor, there is purpose behind everything you do. He starts with your big picture goals and breaks them down into actionable steps that you can take feeling like it's going somewhere. This makes for way more efficient and exciting practice sessions. If you don't know exactly where you want to go with your playing, Trevor will help you find that as well.

He is happy to go as far into theory as you want or stay more high level. Also has been very helpful in transitioning from learning tunes to writing and recording my own songs. Highly recommend.

Having trouble staying consistent with your practices? Do you know your potential but haven't been able to reach it? I can guide you to achievement, and this is how.

I believe a successful and prosperous person has 3 hobbies.
One to keep them healthy.
One to make them money.
And one to keep them creative.

My approach to these 3 activities is the same. HAVE FUN.
If you enjoy something, the consistent practicing will become secondhand. I will teach you your favorite songs, improvisational techniques, and music theory all in a way that will make you forget to check the time. What are we waiting for? Let's jam!

About Andrew
I started taking lessons when I was 9, focusing solely on blues and classic rock. As I grew up, I branched out into heavy metal, jazz, and classical. At the end of our lesson, my teacher would always write something with me and let me solo over it. I think this was super important for keeping it fun. I've now been playing for 12 years and teaching for 2. If you have any questions, feel free to send me a message!

I’ve been giving guitar and music theory lessons for four years now, and I’ve taught a variety of ages. Whether it’s rock and roll, country, or alternative, I promise you’ll be playing your favorite song after a few lessons! Every student receives lessons that are tailored to their interests. My job is to help you reach your goals in a fun and personalized way while also teaching you the fundamentals of music.

About Daniel
Hello! I’ve been playing guitar for nine years now and teaching for a little over four years. For the past six years, I’ve been the lead electric guitarist in my church’s band. I’ve also been involved in multiple nationally ranked choirs and performed at Carnegie Hall in 2016. I’m also the lead guitarist in a singer-songwriter trio called Two Beards and a Boy. We’ve played at city events, fundraisers, and restaurants in the DFW area.

My love for music has played a huge role in my life, and I love sharing this passion with my students. Nothing beats the excitement of a student as they’re able to play their first song. Whether you are wanting to learn how to perform, compose music, or play your favorite song, I promise to help you achieve your goal.

I’ve taught a variety of ages, and I truly believe it's never too early or late to l
earn an instrument. I make sure to structure each student’s lessons to fit their goals and needs. I ensure to focus solely on what the student is wanting to learn. All of my lessons are designed to be fun and educational, and the student is in complete control. I have been working with children and youth for many years through the Upward Sports program, and I love building connections with all of my students to create a comfortable and fun learning environment.

As a college student at UT, I am very flexible with scheduling, so feel free to contact me about available times for lessons. I hope to hear from you soon, and please let me know if you have any questions!

Daniel did such an amazing job working with my son on his electric guitar lessons!

From a parent's perspective, he charged a very reasonable rate, he was willing to work with our schedules, and his communication with me was both timely and professional.

My son loved working with Daniel because, while he did dedicate time to teaching my son the fundamentals, he also allowed my son to bring in pieces of music that were self-selected. Being able to learn excerpts from his favorite songs really motivated my son to pick up his guitar instead of his XBox controller!

I highly recommend Daniel as a teacher. He is knowledgable, encouraging, and passionate about music in a way that is contagious. We wish he still lived close enough to us to continue lessons!

I have been playing guitar for 33 years and teaching since I was in high school. I majored in jazz guitar in college. I have taught guitar at the university and high school levels as well as privately to students from age 7 to 70. I am patient, kind and customize my lessons to various learning styles and aim to help my students stay motivated by helping them play music they really love from the beginning.
I would love to help you or your child become a better guitarist!

About Chris
I am originally from Houston, TX and began playing the guitar at the age of eight and began studying classical guitar at age ten.

While studying jazz at the High School for the Visual and Performing Arts in Houston TX, I began working professionally as a guitarist, playing locally in clubs and at corporate functions. It was also during this time that I first began teaching private music lessons at my local music store.

While attending the University of Miami under music scholarship, I performed in the award-winning University of Miami Concert Jazz Band and played with jazz greats Wynton Marsalis, Joe Lovano and others. I also played in several bands and with numerous local artists.

Upon graduating from college, I coached a jazz guitar ensemble of five undergraduate guitarists and a rhythm section at the University of Miami and also l
ed the jazz guitar program at Miami’s arts magnet high school, “New World School of the Arts” and taught jazz improvisation to a large class of multi-instrumentalists.

In 2000, I moved to New York City and began playing guitar for neo-soul songstress Angie Stone. We toured nationally in support of her album, “Mahogany Soul” and appeared on the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, “Live at the Apollo” and BET’s “106th and Park”. During this time I also performed, recorded and/or toured the US and Japan with Interscope Records avant-garde R&B artist Bilal Oliver, African pop singer and superstar fusion bassist Richard Bona and Japanese jazz pioneer and saxophonist Sadao Watanabe. Along with balancing performing, songwriting and recording, I taught guitar, bass and piano privately to a wide variety of students.

After moving to Japan in 2004, I performed with numerous bands and artists including Japanese taiko drummer Isaku Kageyama. Our CD, “Hybrid Soul”, a creative collaboration fusing musical elements from Japanese folk songs, psychedelic rock and ambient music was released in 2011.

I have over 30 years' experience as both a performer and teacher and this helps me instill confidence in my students and I am able to help them quickly progress on the guitar and have fun doing it!

“Chris was hired by our family several years ago to teach our two teenage sons to play guitar... His musical talent and knowledge along with his focus, maturity, creativeness and personality allows his students to receive his lessons with enthusiasm and retention." - Nancy C. (parent)
