I've been teaching violin and string instruments for 10 years and my students have gone on to perform at everything from small recitals to with GDYO to as a member of TMEA All-State Orchestra. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to hold the instrument properly and play 1-2 pieces rote (without reading music), and as time goes on you'll be able to read and write simple melodies that you can also play. I specialize in the Suzuki method, typically use Suzuki and Essential Elements books, and have the following tools available for your lessons: mirror, music stand, straws and other teaching tools. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Adrianna
Violinist, Pianist, Teacher and Conductor

I graduated December 2010 from Texas Tech University. I have my Bachelor of Music with a Teacher’s Certification in the area of strings and orchestral studies. My principle instrument is the violin and studied under Dr. John H. Gilbert as a part of my degree. I continued secondary piano studies with Dr. Carla D. Cash at Texas Tech University.

In the Fall of 2010, I completed my degree by doing a full time student teaching at Martin High School in Arlington, Texas. During my time teaching at Martin HS, the orchestra competed in TMEA String Honor Orchestra, where they placed third in the finals. This is the highest placement in this competition they have received since the mid-1980s. During my time in Arlington, I sat as a violin judge for region full orchestra and region string orchestra. I p
ersonally conducted 3 of the 5 orchestra and taught each class daily, either in sectionals or group instruction and conducting

At Texas Tech University, I worked two years as a teacher for the nationwide outreach program, String Project. With String Project, I would teach classes of 15 to 20 students at a time. These classes were forty-five minute violin classes held at the university twice a week. Each student had an additional thirty minute weekly, private lesson. My work, along with 4 other teachers, earned a position to lead two clinics at the annual ASTA convention, held in Atlanta Georgia in 2009.

During the Spring 2011 semester, I spent my week in the Houston area as an orchestra teacher at Fort Settlement Middle School. During my time at Fort Settlement, I ran a program of 164 middle school string musicians on violin, viola, cello, bass and harp. The orchestra ranged from beginner to upper-intermediate levels. I had the opportunity to take 3 of the orchestras to UIL contest. All three groups came back with outstanding awards, including Sweepstakes, the highest award possible.

I am a sought after violinist, pianist, accompanist, teacher, conductor, and adjudicator for several ensembles, musical organizations, and student recitals. I began my musical career at the age of eight playing the piano. I have continued to play and take piano lessons throughout my life. When I entered the sixth grade, at the age of 11, I began my violin studies. These violin and piano studies led to my eventual audition and acceptance at Texas Tech. Though one may think two is enough, I did not. After a year marching in the colorguard in high school, I began lessons on the clarinet at the age of 15 and joined the band. I continued to perform on the clarinet in the marching and concert bands throughout high school and college.

With 6 years of private, group and public teaching, I am a state certified music teacher for early childhood through 12th grade. Since the fall of 2011, I also teach full time as a middle orchestra teacher in Lewisville ISD. I am a current member of TMEA, TODA, TMTA, and ASTA. I have taught a wide range of students and enjoy sharing my passion for music making. As a teacher, I want my students to understand and learn music in many different aspects. Understanding how to read notes and rhythms is important, but combining them with the emotion and sensitivity of music makes playing any instrument fantastic. Music theory and technique are other important aspects of playing all instruments and are stressed in each lesson as well. As students practice and develop their skill and understanding, it is my desire for students to express the music from the depths of their heart.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am generally a very easy to get along with, but I do have high expectations from my students. For beginners, I run my lessons in sections with stretches, detailed warm-ups, repertoire, theory and end with an overview of the lesson and expectations for the next lesson. With my intermediate and advanced students, I expect them to come in already warmed up and prepared. I will have them play through technique exercises with brief reviews and explanations for the next expected exercise. We then go immediately into repertoire where students will "perform" prepared pieces for me. I stop and work on things throughout and then set an expectation for the next lesson for repertoire before ending the lesson.

*Note* I do expect all students to have an instrument to practice on. I highly encourage all beginners to RENT their first instrument from an instrument specialty store and not purchase one from a "department" or "super" store or online. Instrument specialty stores are always available to do repairs and upgrades with very decent prices. Purchased beginner instruments are hard to sell once grown out of. I do have names and numbers for multiple violin and piano shops in the DFW area, as well as a piano tuner.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Front Room: Piano, music stand and mirror, chairs and couch, highly encourage parents to sit in on lessons

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students will need to provide all of their own equipment. I will bring any additional books on an as need basis. I will bring my own violin to violin lessons, but students will need to provide their own with accessories.

*** Specialties ***
Kodaly and Suzuki

Whether you're 3 or 103, if you're playing violin (or starting to play!) I hope you're EXCITED about it!! Over the years, my students have said that their lessons are/have been their favorite times of each week. I believe learning to play viola should be full of joy, learning, thinking, and feeling. Bring that joy alive for yourself by partnering with me as your musical guide. I bring over 30 years of experience and pure joy to my work, and I'd love to share that with you!

About Jill
I've been in and around music all my life. I started violin at age 5, part of the first generation of Suzuki violinists in the United States. I've loved being a professional violinist and violin teacher for over 30 years! And I've also founded and directed three community music schools in Newburyport, Boston, and Manhattan.

I hold Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Violin Performance, and I'm lucky to have had wonderful experiences during my formal training! In my undergraduate years, I was awarded a full 4-year scholarship for string quartet and chamber music playing, which was invaluable as a real-world training. In graduate school, I was fortunate to learn so much as a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate violin students.

I have also been an innovator in musical education, and I've felt honored to coach numerous already gift
ed violin teachers who have sought me out to improve their techniques for best teaching practices. From my 30+ years of private violin teaching and observing how children learn, I developed a super fun groundbreaking class in New York City for 2.5 to 5 year old beginners called Crackerjack Kidz! And a few years ago, I wrote a text to accompany young students and their families.

I continuously work to be a master teacher dedicated to the very best methods, using a variety and combination of techniques and strategies tailored to the student's musical success and enjoyment.

My specialties include music-based early childhood development, adult beginners and continuing learners, intermediate and advanced players, and chamber music coaching.

I welcome you to start your family's musical journey with me!

*** Lesson Details ***
While each lesson is different, we always try to spend a little time warming up, making sure we're comfortable and free of tension, reviewing what we've worked on, and layering in new concepts each time. We also learn age appropriate music theory (the "why's" of how music works), we exercise our imaginations, and we learn how to effectively practice.

We learn to think, solve problems, hear the music in our minds, and coordinate our bodies to play beautifully! Along the way we learn skills for life, the joy of accomplishment, and love of ourselves and others!

Whether you're a toddler or a senior, violin can always teach new things and help students appreciate more about themselves and the world!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music room with keyboard and computer. Parents can sit it on lessons, and are enouraged to do so with young students.

*** Specialties ***
I'm a classically trained violinist and a master teacher with over 30 years of experience. I've been teaching Suzuki violin to children ages 3 and up for my whole career, and I'm also extremely comfortable with traditional methods for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students of any age.

My specialties include:
music-based early childhood development
adult beginners and continuing learners
intermediate and advanced players
chamber music coaching.

Learning Violin has been my passion whole life and I found the best teacher who could help me learn it perfect and beautiful. Every lesson with Jill is fun and enlightening at the same time. She can understand my negatives so well and focus on them while also teaching me to move forward correctly. She understands the level we are at and adjusts each lesson accordingly which is very helpful for a beginner. Its been a year I've started learning violin with Jill and it has been a great year so far. She is the best.

My 11 year old daughter has had 3 lessons with Jill now. We love her! She is knowledgeable, approachable, and not only KNOWS the violin, but understands how to TEACH the violin. Jill has a way of infusing humor and lightheartedness into her lessons, while simultaneously teaching concepts and skills integral to building the foundation to great violin playing. My daughter looks forward to her lessons every week and is motivated to practice. Jill is a true pro at what she does and I feel lucky to have found her.

I teach violin from ages 3 and up in North Texas.

About Salvador
I am a professional musician and educator. I have always enjoyed and been eager to share the musical knowledge that I learned from the very first music lesson I ever had; this feeling in me has never changed. I simply love to help people who want to learn new instruments.
I am patient and encouraging, helping you to always believe in yourself and I believe and have the educational means to help you do it. Whether it is piano, guitar or some other instrument you want to learn, I can help you.
I was became entirely dedicated to music when I was 14 years old. I learned Classical/Jazz/Pop Guitar, Piano and Flute/Recorder/Alto Sax. As soon as I started learning, I started teaching. In my church there were a lot of kids that didn't have the opportunity to learn music, so I volunteered and became their music teacher passing on to them whateve
r I learned myself.
As I grew older, I kept on studying and teaching music as a church volunteer and noticed that my own skills would dramatically improve just because I was devoted to my student's learning.
I pursued a degree in Music Education in New York City at the Aaron Copland School of Music. The education and experience I gained from college, drastically improved my teaching skills and I was able to work as a Music Teaching Assistant for a private school in NYC, a Senior Chess instructor for after school programs and a Private Music Studio teacher.
Nowadays I am an active music teacher and performer, looking for new students and opportunities to share the love of music. I always reach out to people who have musical interests and want to further develop or experiment with music.

I will be very happy to be your music teacher!

He is the best violin teacher I have ever had! I've wanted to learn since I was a kid, but I was not motivated with my previous teachers and now as an adult beginner I am finding it easier than I thought. Mr. Sal breaks it down so that it isn't as hard to learn anymore and I am making leaps and strides. These last 6 months have gotten me ready to play Jingle Bells for my family over the holidays along with my other pieces and I am excited to show them what I've learned. Thank you Mr. Sal and I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to learn the violin to just start with the best teacher I know!

Gentle and kind teacher of 6 years offering traditional and Suzuki violin lessons! I love teaching adults and kids at any level. I use mostly classical music to teach note reading, proper violin posture and technique but I also take my students taste in music into account and try to find music that is enjoyable for them to play. I encourage heavy parent involvement for students under 10 years old since I only see them once a week and you (the parent) see them every day. Lessons can be as rigorous or laid back as you wish; you'll get out what you put in. I would love to accompany and direct you or your child on your musical journey!

About Alice
Sharing the joy, beauty, and sense of accomplishment achieved by playing and listening to classical music is something that brings me great joy and pleasure! I progressed quickly as an 11-year-old beginner violinist and quickly realized that violin is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Not everyone that begins violin lessons will stick with it their whole life, but I want the chance to introduce students to (or help them progress in) a musical experience that can be life changing.

I hold a B.M.A. in Violin Performance from Brigham Young University- Idaho. During my undergraduate studies I participated in many music competitions winning multiple awards including the opportunity to solo with the Weber State Symphony Orchestra. I have performed with professional groups such as the Idaho Falls Symphony, Cheyenne Symphony, and Wyom
ing Symphony as well as multiple college symphonies and chamber ensembles. These experiences have deepened my love and appreciation for music and my desire to share my talents with others.

I am also a trained Music Together Teacher and enjoy helping young families bring music alive with their children in music class and at home. I have also worked as a Paraprofessional at Laramie Junior High School where I helped teach Orchestra. From these different types of training and experience I have gained insight on how to best introduce and teach musical concepts to students of many different levels. Every person is different and I would love the opportunity to teach in the way that is best for you.
