I am a math tutor at Brookdale Community College. I tutor students in a variety of college math courses, going from basic algebra up to Calculus 3. With a good foundation, any topic is manageable. Homework is key and my students have to complete it before our lesson. The key to succeeding in math is to be extremely organized and have a notebook which contains class notes, homework and extra practice problems. I encourage my students to re-write the class notes after they come home from school. This way the students actually understand what happened. I also help prepare students for the Calculus AB and BC exams as well as the math portions of the ACT and SAT exam. Before any of my lessons I ask the student to send me an outline of the topics they would like to go over and I prepare accordingly. This way my time and their time is used efficiently.

With about 13 years of experience as a Mathematics Teacher, one of my passions in life is the opportunity to share knowledge constantly, as well as, to help individuals eager to improve even when some details appear to be insignificant.
At the age of 19, I formally started working with students of all ages, as a professor of Basic Mathetics, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, etc at the Stephen W. Hawking Institute in Ecuador, my home country. We all should be determined to find an objective/career that would be our passion and reflects our life goal as well. This perspective encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone to move to USA thanks to an Ecuadorian scholarship which financed the commencement of my journey in Environmental Eng. focusing on Nanotechnology at Vincennes Univ. IN. There, I had a training at different Departments as a STEM, English and Spanish tutor; which eventually, gave me the chance to learn about the teaching-learning process of Higher Level ...

About Elizabeth

I am a Science teacher besides my experience as an English and Spanish tutor, about 13 years of experience in this field. I graduated from Vincennes University with an Associate Degree in Environmental and Ecological Engineering. Currently, I am pursuing my Bachelor Degree in Environmental Enginee

Elizabeth is a wonderful tutor. She was very organized and was able to always help me with my chemistry questions. She was very detailed on how she explained a certain concept, and was very patient with me. She does everything she can to ensure that you succeed in the subject!
Dominique
Elizabeth has been a fantastic Spanish instructor. Not only does she provide the basics for grammar but also context for when and where expressions are used, which is just as useful as learning the technical language. She’s also been extremely accommodating if I’ve had to change the schedule, so I would definitely recommend Elizabeth for anyone looking for help brushing up or starting Spanish for the first time!
Roy
Elizabeth is nice. However, she is unreliable. She no called/no showed on our first lesson. We decided to give her another chance. Her instruction was ok, if unable to veer from her planned lesson. Then, she again no called/no showed on us.

I taught myself calculus freshman year of HS. I know firsthand how difficult it is to learn math, but I have overcame these challenges myself and will guide you to overcome them too. I stress understanding/intuition rather than memorizing boring formulas as that's how I learned it myself.

I also have close to 8 years of math/computer science tutoring experience, which will surely come in handy!

About Bill

I have always been a self-studier in my entire life. Being able to learn with just books and your brain is a crucial skill to have! However, I know not everyone (and sometimes even myself) have the discipline and motivation to keep going during hard times. This is where a tutor would come in handy.

"Daniel has tutored me through 2 years of college math including, calculus 2, calculus 3, linear algebra, and differential equations. He helped me on a weekly basis with homework assignments and preparing for tests. The way he taught cleared up all of my questions from lecture and changed my approach to math for the better. Thanks to Daniel's methods and thorough explanations, I earned A's in all my classes. If you seek a solid understanding of math and a professional tutor, I highly recommend Daniel."

How to Score a 5 on the AP Calculus Test

Getting ready to take the AP Calculus test? Brush up on these study tips from Olympia, WA tutor Tali H...   The AP Calculus exam is rumored to be one of the harder AP tests - especially for those of us who math doesn't come easily to. The test takes three hours and 15 minutes, and has 45 multiple-choice questions and six short-answer questions. Both types have a non-calculator part and a calculator part. Even though it sounds daunting, with some determination and productive studying, …
