This class is for teen-adult beginning/intermediate acting. I pioneered 2 private Arts Academies in drama and film for 6 years, and am now teaching acting and directing full time with private lessons and gigs. My goal is to help students become well-rounded in all the areas that are needed to truly become a working actor. These areas include: auditioning, theater, film, and improvisation.

Being a repertory performer for Silver Star Playhouse (musical theater parodies), and having lots of experience and training in improv and interactive dinner theaters really trains you in comedy.
My husband also owns Soundwaves Productions (technological advanced studio in Gilbert)- so completing remote voiceover work for a reel is not out of the question.

I also encourage students to pair in duos for effective scene work and more in-depth technique training (this will also split your lesson cost in half).

About Rebecca

Greetings! I am super excited to be building a private and small group lesson platform at our home studio and to meet your personal acting and performing needs! I recently stepped down from 2 years of full-time drama and visual art at Lumos Arts Academy- a private school I played a role in pione

Bill is a patient, knowledgeable, and experienced instructor. His lessons are well-planned with effective exercises to reinforce the lessons being taught. What I love the most is that these are one-on-one, in-person (online) lessons that provide immediate personalized feedback.
Learning from Bill has made me more comfortable with my ability to give presentations at work.
I would recommend Bill to anyone looking to improve their speaking skills.

Learning from Bill has been absolutely helpful in learning and growing as a voice talent. From the very first lesson, I could already feel myself getting better

TakeLessons sends an email out that has a button to click on that says join class. This is misleading as the class is being held on Skype. Wasted 2/3 of the class getting connected on Skype after waiting for instructor on the email link.

I love actors and I love stories. I enjoy working in easeful environments so my aim is to create that space for you so you can be free.

Each session will include:
• A read of the scene(s)
• I'll pose questions to you (as the character) in the story
• We'll run through the feelings/emotions of the scene from your character POV
• A Fun-Through

Homework for you:
Daydream about your life as the character in the story

You'll love working with me if quick turn-around self tapes give you anxiety and you want a reader who can calm you down.

The way I like to work on stories is simple. Easeful.

I am trained in Meisner, so I'm happy to play a little here with you.

Looking forward to meeting you.

Whether you have a big audition, a class or meeting with a casting director, there are multiple layers to an audition or self-tape that go way beyond knowing your lines, eye-lines and camera angles. I can help you prepare and perform like a seasoned pro.

In very quick bursts we dive into the character and merge that with technical expertise so your audition is always in your body and never in your head. This leaves you free to play! Coaching with me is always fun and we maintain that sense of play and enthusiasm that makes you magnetic in your auditions.

Hunter has been an amazing teacher. I was completely new to the acting world, so not only did she have to teach me acting but she also had to teach me about the business. I started off learning a little bit of everything, from scene study to improv to voiceovers, and now I am focusing on commercials. She has been great at helping me set attainable goals, introducing me to acting resources, and coming up with creative ways to draw out the actress in me when I am struggling with a line. I also appreciate her honesty and how prepared she is for each lesson.

i am so thankful i found hunter! as a beginning actor, it has been hard to find the guidance and knowledge of the business aspect of the industry and how and where to best market yourself. hunter's mastery of this information has already answered so many of my questions that i've been desperately searching for. she is the sweetest and has already boosted my confidence and hopes of propelling my career forward.

Bridget is an amazing piano teacher. My 9 year old daughter loved that she would help her with pop songs as well as the traditional lesson book. She also helped her with voice audition songs for her musical theater group. We highly recommend!

"I did not know what to expect when I signed up to take classes with Susan. I decided to take classes with her for two reasons: Her studio is not far from me and 2, the good reviews left by her clients. All I wanted was to learn the fundamentals and techniques about acting. Susan was excellent and very patient. She offered water in each lesson, which is also very kind. Her interpersonal connection brings a sense of comfort. Her studio is very neat and welcoming. I do not have regrets in my selections and I know you won't be disappointed too."

Acting Tips: What's in your Toolbox?

As with any profession, actors have tools. Just as a doctor needs a stethoscope or a fireman needs a hose, there are certain items an actor must keep in their toolbox. I usually start classes or lessons by asking my new students or clients what they think these tools might be. Sometimes, the answer is very literal ("Script!"), and other times abstract ("Passion!"). None of these is a wrong answer. Being an actor or artist is subjective and everyone's process is different and valid. But t …

Comedy Shows in Chicago: Surviving Your First Improv Audition

So, you’re ready for your first improv audition. You know enough to give gifts, to not ask questions, and, when all else fails, to say, “Yes and…” (You do know all these things, right?) If you’re reading up on improv auditions and comedy shows in Chicago, you’re already on the right track, even if you know nothing. Auditions for improv groups can differ quite a bit from other kinds. The process can be intimidating but the possible rewards, namely lifelong personal friendships and pro …

5 Movie Monologues for Men to Practice Your Skills

Good monologues are hard to find. They are even harder to find when we are talking about film. Film is a very fast moving medium. We, as an audience, have been trained to expect to see something new every few seconds. Live theatre, however, has enjoyed a long and enriching relationship with the sustained attention of the monologue. Here, we are just going to focus on movie monologues for men, and how they help the actor hone their skills. First, we need to define the thing we are looking …
