15 years ago, I started learning the piano and began my life-long pursuit of music. This pursuit has led me in a wide variety of directions. Today, I am currently a doctoral student at Wheaton Graduate School and hope to teach others the joy of playing the piano in my free time.

I have a passion for a wide variety of styles of music. For several years, I played professionally for weddings, shows, and musicals. I have led worship for churches in Michigan and Connecticut. At Yale, I was president of an organization called Yale Musical Cure, in which I played piano in hospitals, hospices, and charity concerts. While at Yale, I also studied theory, piano, sight-singing, and composition.

My teaching style varies from student to student. Music is a wonderfully diverse subject and every student has his own aspirations. I will do my best to cater each lesson to the student's goals and interests whether that is classical piano method, rock, jazz, folk, country, pop or anything in

For beginners I will get them going on basics as fast as they can thru the 1st 3 or 4 books then we'll decide what to do next - takes a year or so.

For intermediates I specialize in teaching how to play like a pop musician - songwriter - rock band - country band - studio musician - jazz / blues basics....how to read and write chords and chord charts and how to play using chord charts.

About Billy

I teach my students how to understand how music is put together so they can learn even more on their own. I read, write, and play all styles and I focus on teaching the student fundamentals that work in all styles of music ....AND I get them going on the style they are interested in - pop, rock,

I build up technique and musicality, beginning with scales and instructional books which provide pieces of increasing difficulty. While this is a more traditionally classical method of learning, I also enjoy playing in other styles such as popular and anime music. Especially because of my personal interests, I am very open to teaching you the genres that you are interested in performing. ~

About Michael

A bit about me - in my creative work, I like to explore narrative and extramusical ideas through sound. I'm often inspired by literature, visual art, dance, and my Japanese heritage. I'm a recent graduate of Temple University with a Master's in Music Composition, and my work has been presented by p

I have been a student of Michael’s for approximately 7 months. My only previous experience with violin had been one year in elementary school band class and 8 months with a private teacher. When my private teacher’s lesson schedule changed, I was introduced to Michael and was greatly impressed by his skill level and teaching style. I have learned so much more than I had expected in each lesson, like how to self-tune, use a metronome, shift, and various other techniques. Michael constantly offers feedback on how I can execute techniques better, and I feel that this helps me to learn more effectively. He is always challenging me by giving me harder pieces and scales. I have even been told by my high school orchestra conductor that I have improved so much and she is constantly surprised by how fast I am learning. I highly recommend having Michael as a teacher for anyone looking to learn how to play the violin.

Michael is very talented and he is a great instructor. He explains the techniques really well. Very professional and supportive. I highly recommend him!
Tanush
Micheal is a fantastic teacher that manages to solve every question and problem I have about my instrument. His teaching technique breaks down complex things into easy-to-understand lessons that help give me and his other students great comprehension of the topics that we need to know to become better musicians. I sincerely cannot recommend him enough to beginning and intermediate musicians.

First, lessons start with with an intake in order to match my teaching to the students needs. The intake includes a few questions about the students musical interests, goals and needs for their learning environment. Lesson can range from fairly strict and demanding at a high pace to relaxed slow paced and light, depending on the student. Working on scales and exercises As well as on developing strong contestant motivation Are an inseparable part of the lesson.

"My son Joseph takes lessons with Seth. Joseph can get distracted and get off track throughout his lessons at times. Seth has the ability and the patience to get him re-focused on the matter at hand-the piano. I know Joseph does not like to practice very much but gets very excited when he knows Seth is coming over to work with him and teach him. He is doing quite well and I am very happy we started lessons with Seth after thinking about it for over 1 year. Thanks Seth!"

"Trina approached my daughter very gracefully. My daughter has zero experience and she is very young. She still struggle with counting and some of fine motory skills, e.g. right fingers on the right keys. Trina customized the experience and kept her on the task, even my daughter was a bit stressed-out by the new experience. There is a lot of work ahead of us and with Trina's experience and patience, we hope to make slow, but solid progress."
