About Brianna
Hi, I'm Bri! I'm a graduate of North Central College with a BA in Music (Emphasis in Composition and Percussion) and a minor in History. I absolutely love music, every single aspect of it. I love to make music a part of everybody's lives who want and need it. I want to help you with your musical needs. I have been playing percussion for 19 years, singing for 25, and playing piano for 20 years. I was a member of a recording and performing Chicago band, Oblio and Arrow, where I provided backing vocals and helped with the song arrangements. I am currently a member of Trip City Lights, an LA local funk/soul band, where I provide lead and backing vocals. I also record vocals for different artists hooks, jingles, choruses, and songs (covers and originals). I have also composed/arranged various pieces for ensembles, bands, vocal groups, choirs,
plays, musicals, commercials, etc. I've worked with folks locally in LA, and all over the world. I love what I do!

History has always fascinated me. The way our world has developed and changed and continues to evolve is amazing. Everything can be tied back to the past, and I feel it's important to take a look back, put yourself in that time, and really study how things were to help understand why things are the way they are now.

Crocheting and knitting are a couple of good habits/hobbies I picked up about 10 years ago. I sell scarves online and I'm always working on some sort of project. I will have you knitting and pearling with the best of them!

Music, history, crochet, and knitting....I'm your girl!

About Lily
I've been sewing since I was 13. I've sewn things over the years such as dresses, pajamas. I do a lot of tailoring things too. I just love to sew, and I love teaching people to sew too!

The way that I teach is to help the student develop their own style. I have students work on their own individual projects that they pick out while asking me questions that they might have while they are doing their project.

However, if they would like there is an option for me to develop lessons for the student on certain sewing techniques that the student could learn. Although, be aware that learning how to sew takes time and that all the techniques of sewing cannot be done all at once.

Then, there is the third option that the lesson could be a mix of the student doing what they want (choosing their own project) and learning some pre-designed
techniques.

My first goal is to give my students all of the tools they need to feel confident from the very first lesson. I would like for all of my students within the first lesson to finish either of two basic projects (pajama pants or a draw string bag).

My lessons are not like videos you may find online. Meaning projects will take longer than you think they will. I will work with you to properly construct a quality finished project without too many frustrations and in a timely manner. I recommend buying lessons in 90 minute packages, since sewing always takes longer than expected.

THE BEGINNER SEWER

In these lessons we will go over the following, which can be adapted to how you want:

- Sewing safety and how to use a machine
- Learn about the sewing tools you'll be using
- How to read, cut out, layout, and follow a basic pattern instructions
- How to pin and sew a seam, finish seams and sew hems
- Learn to sew on an elastic band (to pajamas or for a tote).
- Learn how to unpick your projects when a mistake is made.
- Learn how to do a basic stitch and the gather stitch.
- TAKE AWAY PROJECTS:
- Pajamas
- Sewing Tote
- Basic Dress
- Pillow case

THE INTERMEDIATE SEWER
- Cement what you learned in the while a beginner.
- Learn to hand sew hems etc.
- Learn about different fabrics and when to use them.
- Sew a basic zipper onto clothes or bags.
- Learn about the different foots.
- Learn to do other stitches
-TAKE AWAY PROJECTS
- Intermediate Dresses/ Clothes
- Bags
-

THE ADVANCED SEWER
- Work on your own projects you choose with help.
- Work with harder fabrics.
-Use a zipper foot to sew an invisible zipper.
- Learn to do advanced stitches
-Learn about pleats and darts.
- TAKE AWAY PROJECTS
- Prom dress
- Suits
- Formal Coats
- Backpacks

Whether it is for a hobby, to decorate your house, to prepare for design school, or to make your own clothes, I can teach you from the very basic sewing skills, to more advance topics such as modifying your patterns to make clothes that fit.

About Miranda
I have been sewing for 16 years and love to help others learn this awesome craft! I have a degree in Fashion Design and can teach sewing- including how to use a serger and cover stitch machine, pattern use, pattern alterations, creating your own patterns, draping, and hand sewing.

Students can have a totally customized experience with me. You pick what you want to learn. We can arrange the lessons to learn specific skills such as serging, hemming, or using a pattern, or with specific projects in mind like making a pillowcase, purse, blanket, or dress. I can also help with fabrication knowledge and learning to recognize what fabrics are good for what projects. The options are unlimited. Want to make a T-shirt blanket to keep all those memories, learn how to hem your own clothes, make your Halloween costume or a dress for your doll, or
learn how to make curtains?

Sewing can be so much fun and it is a joy to see a piece of fabric turn into something remarkable. In today's world, the internet is a great tool and much can be learned from it but nothing quite beats having a teacher there to actually see and help you. I will be there to work hands-on with you or your student so that you, or they, have the best learning experience.

Whether you are new to sewing, or need help learning more advanced skills, Miranda is amazing. She has the ability, and patience to explain a concept, then walk you through how to apply it. For my lessons, we focused on grading sewing patterns, which is an abstract concept that takes time to get your head wrapped around. Now I'm confident in my ability to apply the skill, and with a little practice, I will be able to master making changes to patterns.

During our last lesson we went over different seams, and started building a garment.

She is highly recommended, and I look forward to future lessons.

About Katie
My first knitting student was my mom! Hey, my name is Katie. I'm looking forward to meeting you and helping you fall in love with knitting!

I loved teaching my mom knitting because she taught me so many different skills and I enjoyed spending time with her and teaching her something new. In college, I started a knitting club with my roommate and we knit in the library on the weekends. I taught my friends how to knit their first hats, scarves, and pot holders.

I love to knit, crochet, run, make jokes, and get to know people. I can't wait to meet you! I'm easy going but I will also challenge you to knit and crochet well. I look forward to checking out what projects you'd like to create!

Hello, Thank you for giving myself to the opportunity to teach Chess to yourself or your Children. Chess is more than a game to myself; it is an important part of my life! At the Age of 6; I began playing chess with Chess Experts, Masters and Grandmasters at home, libraries, and outside park areas in NYC. Passionate about Playing the Game of Chess, now for 4 decades! I played Chess primarily for the fun factor, like most kids and people today (2018) play video games. Chess has been proven to help improve children's thinking and problem solving skills. Kids introduced to Chess at a young age do well in school; especially Math & reading for years. Along with my Tae kwon do lessons, chess helped in building my self-confidence, memory & creativity (or thinking outside the box), improves my memory, problem solving/ reading/ math ski
lls, ability to focus or concentrate. My love of taking on difficult challenges and complex tasks, planning and foresight; resulted in my advancement/promotion to multiple Senior Management & Leadership positions, and pursuit of excellence in my primary and secondary duties/responsibilities; while serving in the US Navy for 24 years.

About Dianna
I am a professional seamstress who has been working in the theme park and attraction industry for four years. I am currently a Costume Tech with SeaWorld San Antonio focusing on our Sesame Street products. I went into that position right after getting my degree in Theatrical Costume Design from Houston Community College, which has one of the most hands on programs in Texas. I have also worked at a custom drapery shop and as the Costume Manager for 13th Floor Haunted House.

I started teaching myself to sew when I was 12 years old because I wanted to make my own Halloween costumes. It has become an absolute passion of mine and I want to share it with as many people as I can! So if your goal is to learn how to make costumes for stage, Halloween, or cosplay I would be more than happy to teach you.

I would love a chance to work with children
as I was a camp councillor for 5 years during High School and College. My Gold Award in Girl Scouts (equivalent to the Boy Scout Eagle) was teaching younger girls how to make basic dresses that were then donated to the woman's shelter of Ft. Worth.

I approach my students with the same attention to detail that I approach my own knitting. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to knit something and it always end up turning out wrong no matter how much you try to understand the pattern. Most of what I teach is how to read the fabric the knitting creates and how to improve your own method. I would have never been able to do this with out all of my own experiences and all the experiences that lead me to where I am now.

I have been raising my daughter, being a wife and all the while knitting and challenging myself to become better for no other reason than for myself. I took on small projects, like baby sweaters, mending store bought sweaters, making blankets and built from there.

Many times I would be at a stand still and would to go to a local yarn shop or find knitting refere
nce books to figure out what I needed to do to fix my problems. Mostly, half of my time knitting was spent ripping (frogging; as knitters say) out my work and picking all my stitches back up.

My life as a sergeant in the Army gave me a “can do” attitude that helped me to never give up. Now, that doesn’t mean my knitting didn’t ever go in a “time out” basket. However, one thing the Army encourages in the their enlisted ranks is to find a way to get a job done with the end in mind. So, that was me, just jumping in, not being afraid to do so. I mean what was the worst that could happen? It wasn’t like I was jumping out of plane. (Yes, I did do that, too, while I was in the Army.)
During this time I was also homeschooling our daughter and when you do this it forces independent study and good research traits. The answer is always out there somewhere and yes, I did believe.

Along came another life shift. This time my daughter would be taking less of my time as she was going to college and my husband would no longer be active duty. I wandered into my local craft store where I knew the yarn manager and mentioned that my life was going to drastically change. I saw her excitement plain as day on her face. “Why not put in an application?”, she asked. I did, and she promptly retired within the next few months. The teaching opportunity almost, literally fell in my lap. But, the beauty of it all was that I was willing to accept yet another life change and as a result found my passion.
