About Thomas
Thomas J. W. is an active music teacher, composer, adjudicator, and clinician in the greater Philadelphia area. He has over fifteen years experience as a concert band director, marching band director, jazz improvisation instructor, choral director, private instructor, and marching drill writer. His directing career has included small rural band programs, small metro programs, large high-achieving suburban programs, and non-profit youth bands. In addition to his band compositions, he also has over forty unpublished vocal arrangements to his credit, most written for use with collegiate men's a cappella groups. Thomas taught over 600 online and local private music lessons in 2016.

Thomas has a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from The Pennsylvania State University. He holds a teaching certificate in the states of Pennsylvania
and New Jersey and has taught at the secondary level in both states. In addition to both instrumental and choral ensembles at Penn State, Thomas was a student leader in the Penn State Blue Band and a member of the brass section of the Cadets of Bergen County Drum and Bugle Corps in 1993 and 1994. He served as an Associate Director of the Warren Junior Military Band of Youngstown, Ohio from 1995 to 2005. He also served as a visual staff member for the renowned North Penn Marching Knights of Lansdale, PA for one season in 2004.

He is a current adjudicator with Drum Corps International and Cavalcade of Bands. He is a member of MENC, PMEA, NJMEA, ASCAP, CASA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the National Band Association. He appeared in the Marquis Who's Who Among American Educators in 2004 and 2005, an honor rarely bestowed upon teachers, as students who appear in the Who's Who Among American High School Students must nominate them. He currently is a music teacher at the Center for Performing and Fine Arts of the PA Leadership Charter School in West Chester, PA and resides in Downingtown, PA with his wife and two sons.

Thomas will happily work with students on the autism spectrum or students with ADD.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons are tailored to the needs and interests of each student. If a student is involved in school music ensembles, we will work with their lesson books from school in addition to material outside of the books, including SmartMusic, Noteflight, and teacher-created materials. We will focus on building proper tone production and individual technique - something that often is difficult to learn in a large ensemble setting.

I am capable of starting a beginner student on any band instrument including percussion, any classical string instrument (violin, viola, cello, string bass), and piano. I can begin a student on drum set and work with them through their first method book, but I would then recommend they find a specialized drum set teacher after a period of six to twelve months.

For advanced students, I work from selected conservatory etude books on developing advanced skills and can work with students on audition pieces for honors bands/orchestras or college auditions.

My lessons are a half-hour once a week, with the option of working for 45 minutes or 60 minutes.

My teaching starts with a good foundation for sound and technique and expands to teach music that is fin and inspiring to each individual student. If the student would like to learn to play jazz, I have a method which will shaves off years of hard work and frustration. All my teaching is geared towards giving the student good basics along with a practical application to today's music scene.

About Rick
I’ve always loved teaching from a young age; finding new ways to break down complex ideas and techniques and making it fun and easy is something that gives me a lot of satisfaction. If you want to play your favorite songs on saxophone, I can save you years of frustration and slow progress.

At the bottom of this page, I have a YouTube video of 3 of my sax students' incredibly fast progress. None of them had ever played saxophone, You can do that too! It’s easy and fun. No boring scales, exercises and dumb tunes. Just a simple, easy way to becoming a great sounding sax player in 1/10th the time. This method has worked for over 1000 students and works 100% of the time if you commit to practice.

I guarantee if you commit to practicing 30 minutes 5 days a week for 4 months and you don't see the success in the video I will give you ALL
of your money back. I have 3 Grammy nominations but the proof of what i can do for you is in this video. Search this title on Youtube:

I have taught flute lessons for 20 years. My students study either in my studio at my home(which is decorated in a fun pink Victorian style) or online. Every year we have mini recitals at my home where students showcase works in progress and we have a party. Then at the end of the year, we have a fun formal recital at a church and everyone gets dressed up and shows off a piece. My students often hold first chairs at their schools and do well on chair auditions.

About Elizabeth
I have taught flute to children and adults for about 20 years. During that time, I have continued to develop as a flutist by taking my own lessons with professional symphony players and by playing principal flute in a community orchestra. I strongly believe in positive reinforcement and applauding my students as they make strides. You may find my profile on Linked in, and Elizabeth Pickens, flute instructor on Facebook. I also have a website fluteteacher.net which I encourage you to visit.

As an adult student I appreciate Elizabeth's attention to so much more than just the notes on a page. She is a terrific encourager, and an especially good problem solver for people like me who have a stream of questions about the instrument, its place in music and history, and music theory. I recommend her for students who are beginning as youngsters and for others who choose to learn to play the flute at any stage in life because she believes that music enhances life.

I have had many different students of all experience levels, and we will work together to identify and achieve your personal goals as a flutist and musician! All lessons are constructed to be engaging, interactive, comfortable, and fun! I understand that people learn differently, and I often utilize a variety of different activities or games to understand different mechanisms for flute playing. I focus on developing sound through the identification, manipulation, and collaboration of embouchure and diaphragmatic support; developing musicality in phrasing through the relation of singing and playing the flute, and focus on correct and hand and body position to prevent injury and to facilitate all aspects of playing the flute.

About Elisa
Hi, there! My name is Elisa Alfonso and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2012 and have loved helping my students learn and/or improve their flute playing and improve their general understanding of music. I also really love helping students learn to articulate their ideas on paper! I went to East Carolina University and earned my BM in Music Performance and a BA in Hispanic Studies in 2016. I strive to make lessons both a fun and productive experience for students, and will use the educational goals that the student identifies to structure custom lesson plans for that student. I strongly believe in explaining the reasoning behind activities so students understand the goals that they are working towards in our lessons, and I am passionate about helping my students succeed. I studied and played flute for 13 years, and have particular experience in 20th century music. I with studied Greer Ellison, a premier Baroque flutist, and teacher of Alexander Technique, and so have a solid foundation in breath management and alignment. If you find that your shoulders and back get particularly tense and tired while playing, I would be able to help you fix that.

About Natalie
My name's Natalie, and I'm a voice and flute teacher! I studied Vocal Performance and Flute Performance at the University of California Santa Cruz, and got my Masters of Music in Vocal Arts at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music.

I specialize in classical voice and opera, though I believe a good vocal technical foundation is applicable to all musical styles. I also teach music theory, for those just getting into music, and for those who would appreciate a refresher. Since I studied both flute and voice, I am especially well trained in breath management and alignment. The breath is the most important thing in both flute and voice. It's what sends our sound out into the world!

My name is Azeem and I am very passionate about music, specifically flute. Flute performance was a surprise in my life that I discovered in high school. It moved me to a point where I knew it was what I wanted to pursue after listening to an orchestra’s performance of Tchaikovsky’s 4th Symphony. Though any discipline within music takes great patience, discipline, and perseverance, that freedom and expression that you receive while performing make it well worth it. The classical technique on the flute can provide a great foundation to learning all styles of music on the instrument, from classical, jazz, hip-hop and even folk. Along side classical flute performance, I have learned to also beatbox on the flute and produce/compose my own music as well. I believe learning multiple styles of music in the long term is extremely beneficial to becoming a well rounded musician. It also improves musicality and develops your own unique style on the instrument.

I have recently started teaching ...

About Azeem
*See further below for lesson details!*
Azeem the Flutist: I am a Master's student in Flute Performance at the University of Northern Iowa. I have been playing the flute for 13 years and teaching for 7. My main style is classical, and due to the technical training I have had since I was very young, it has been very easy for me to learn and master other styles such as Folk, Jazz, Blues, Beatbox, Hip-Hop, and other styles of flute. I have a passion for performing and have played hundreds of solo and ensemble concerts. As a classical performer, I was the Grand Prize Winner of Santa Barbara Performing Arts Scholarship Competition in 2013 and won 3rd prize at the University of Northern Iowa Concerto Competition in 2016. I have played concerts all over the United States as well as in United Kingdom and Italy. As a performer of other styles I h
ave played in a couple bands (“Dannsair" Irish Folk Band and “Azeem X Underbelly”) and supported these acts on tours.

Azeem the Teacher: I really love spreading the knowledge I've learned over the years about the flute and production/composition (Logic Pro X and Sibelius). I find a huge sense of fulfillment in seeing my students enjoy learning and making beautiful music. I have a high level of knowledge and skills that I am willing to use to teach students from the most beginner to the most advanced on the flute.

*** Lesson Details ***
My lesson plans are based around your skill set. I expect my students to practice, but I make sure they're always having fun and enjoying playing. My goal is to get my students playing music as fast as possible so they can see results immediately and get excited!

Note: I am trained and specialized in teaching flute. Although I have basic skills in Production and Composition, my main speciality is Flute Performance. I always like begin lessons by addressing the foundation of a flutist’s musicianship, tone, and technique. The method I use is proven to give students of all ages the best possible start to music and maximize their potential. If you are looking to develop a great foundation of musicianship, style, and technique on the flute then you will enjoy lessons!

-Beatbox Flute
-Improvisation
-Specialist in classical flute, though proficient in any flute style (blues, jazz, folk, etc.)

It was fun time learning music, especially the flute. I wasn't familiar with the music at all like I was an illiterate in music. Many Thanks for Mr. Azeem for being patient with me and walk me through every basic knowledge in music deliberately. In the end, I am happy to have a new skill in my life which is playing flute. I wish, I have more time to practice more flute and playing professionally. Also, Mr. Azeem is a decent and a respected person in all kinds, teaching, interpersonal conversations, and understanding the difficulty of playing flute for the beginners.

He also is friendly and professional, which made for a relaxed, but productive lesson session. We met once a week very consistently, and I can say that my flute playing has greatly improved as a result of these lessons. I highly recommend Azeem, and really enjoyed having him as a teacher!

Azeem was my flute techniques teacher and my lesson teacher while I am pursuing a Instrumental Music Ed degree. I have never picked up a flute and I was impressed at how knowledgeable he is at the flute. Throughout our lessons, he was very quick to spot and correct errors, as well as making the flute very fun and interesting to learn. Throughout our lessons, I was picking up more and more techniques, and was able to pick up the basic fundamentals without creating bad habits. Overall, great teacher and an amazing performer!

Teaching and playing music have always been my two ideal careers. I began teaching younger students when I started college. My professors and former band directors would recommend students to me because of my beautiful tone and proficient technique. I have taught privately, in addition to teaching group lessons and general music for non-for-profit music programs in NYC, specifically in Brooklyn and Harlem.

Currently, I am the full-time music teacher at a Round Rock ISD elementary school. I love studying and using the Kodaly and Orff methods in my music classroom to teach music concepts and literacy. I love making learning music FUN, so I am always researching and finding new, research based methods to teach.

In addition to being a proficient classical player, I think it's important to bring the interests of my student's musical taste into consideration. Playing things that my students are excited about brings life to my teaching and their playing.

I love helping students ...

About Jessica
I am so lucky to be a musician and share my love of music with the world! My career as a professional music teacher in Round Rock ISD is one way I reach hundred of children each day with my passion for music. I am able to continually learn, grow, and expand my practice of teaching through daily experience, conferences, and professional development.

I began playing flute in middle school at the age of 12. I was lucky to have the opportunity to attend the prestigious LaGuardia High School for Music and Art and the Performing Arts, in addition to the Juilliard School on the weekends. I continued to study flute into college and graduate school, where I studied with world renowned professors at established music conservatories.

My passion for teaching and love of music have brought me to play and live internationally. I am grateful
for the experiences I have had and continue to have as a musician!

Experienced flute teacher of 7 years. I have taught ages 5-70! All ages and levels are welcome to inquire. I provide customized lessons designed just for you, because there is not just one way to play the flute. I will always be encouraging as you learn, because music lessons should be fun! I am passionate about teaching flute and passing on what I have learned from my mentors over the years. Send me a message to inquire about lessons! I look forward to hearing from you.

About Jennifer
Introduction:
While I am primarily a musician, I am also a freelance proofreader, and I always excelled in English class. Much of this "about me" section pertains to my musical background, as that is my primary profession. My reading and writing background is included later on in this section.

Flute Experience:
I started playing the flute when I was in fourth grade. My elementary school offered weekly flute classes, then in fifth grade we had weekly orchestra classes. But I loved the flute so much I wanted more. I began private lessons at 10 years old, and I have never looked back. From there, I went on to play in my high school's marching band, concert band, pit orchestra, and symphony orchestra; I played in three different flute choirs and my local youth orchestra outside of school; I earned two performance degrees from
the University of North Texas (Bachelor of Music) and Stony Brook University (Master of Music); I have performed with orchestras in the United States, Canada, and Europe; I have played in pit orchestras for musicals and operas; I have competed in solo competitions, I have auditioned for professional orchestras, and I have taught dozens of students of all ages across the country.
I remain eternally grateful to all my generous mentors who have inspired me throughout my career. My mentors include notable flutists Dr. Mary Karen Clardy, Dr. Elizabeth McNutt, Francine Ross Pancost, Dr. James Scott, Terri Sundberg, Jim Walker, and Carol Wincenc.

Flute, Piccolo, and Music Performance Lessons:
As a teacher, I strive to put my students first. I work with you, and for you, to help you grow as a musician or as a student. I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all mentality. Instead, I believe in a flexible and customizable teaching model, which creates a highly personalized learning experience. Whether you have been playing for 20 years and want to get back in shape, or you first touched a flute last week, I can help you to build upon your flute, piccolo, or performance skills. I pride myself in giving my students 110%, and I hope that that resonates with you as you search for a teacher who fits your needs.

Reading and Writing:
As a tutor for reading and writing, I focus on reaching whatever goal we set out to achieve when you become my student. Whether you need help analyzing literature, taking notes from a text book, or organizing a research paper, I am determined to help you become the best version of yourself. Everyone has something unique to offer, and it's my job as a tutor to bring that out of you so you can share it with the world.

I have listened to Jennifer as she gave flute lessons to several young beginning students. I observed that she truly cares about her students and invests herself in their progress. She has a creative teaching style, always coming up with new ways to approach the challenges of each individual student. She spends time to discover the students’ goals and structures their lesson plans accordingly. Jennifer is also a good communicator with the parents of younger students, making sure they are informed and inviting them to observe lessons if they wish. I’m sure you’ll find her a delight to work with.
