Teaching Style
I believe first and foremost in supporting and developing what musically inspires a student’s decision to study and play music. In order to fully develop control, musicality and understanding of the music language, it is important to focus on several components including music theory (scale and harmonic structure/function and rhythm), style, ear-training, reading and performance skills.

Expectations of Students
Like any aspect of life, consistency and patience are two very important qualities to posses when working towards a goal. The duration of each practice session is proportional to the level of the student. Learning how to practice efficiently with your instrument is key for adherence and success in obtaining your goals.

We will play whatever songs the student would like to learn! I use the Hal Leonard guitar method book to give a good foundation to the students and a solid understanding of the fundamentals. I encourage students to pick songs that they hear on the radio or anywhere else that they enjoy and bring them to me for lessons so we can learn them together.

My students have spanned every age, experience level, and walk of life through the years... Some wanted to join a band, some wanted to go on to music school, some were aspiring songwriters, and others were simply interested in an awesome hobby! I've been teaching acoustic guitar for over 13 years and teach a mix of playing technique, music theory, ear training, as well as working on songs and styles of playing that the student is interested in. Along with my teaching experience, I have plenty of stage and studio experience as well which allows me to bring those things to the table. More real world and less dry and academic you might say...

I've taken guitar lessons on and off for a while, and Cameron is hands-down the best teacher I've had. He points out specific technical good points and bad points, and offers concrete suggestions and examples for improvement. The lesson material is progressively challenging, but not overwhelming, and is targeted to the student's interests, and lessons are fun and interesting. Fantastic instructor.

Cameron is an excellent teacher for me. I am 11 years old and have been playing for almost a year with him. He is patient and makes me stretch to be a better guitarist. He takes time to find songs at my level of learning and accommodates my tastes in music. I would recommend him for anyone who is interested in playing guitar.

I enjoyed my first lesson with Cameron. He explained things clearly so I could understand. Can't wait for my next lesson.

"I only had the opportunity to work with Eric for about a month before I had to randomly leave NYC, and it was such a bummer to leave his instruction! I absolutely loved his lesson structure. It was the perfect blend of technique and theory practice, with practical and helpful goals for the week. Efficient and patient instructor. Totally recommended."

"Working with Chris has changed how I look at my guitar. I'm late to the party (older). Previously, with memorized chord positions, I've been able to get by. In short order Chris has me in a new place. Understanding music theory, especially related to the guitar, has been presented in a way that works. And it's fun!"
