Ukelele is a super fun and easy instrument to pick up - with only four strings, it's a little easier to handle than a guitar, and it's widely used in popular music today. I have students as young as 4 years old all the way up to adults looking for a new hobby in their retirement.

Let's sing and play together!

About Megan

I grew up in a music store, and learned a love for music at an early age. I started piano at age 3, and just kept adding instruments from there. I majored in music at MidAmerica Nazarene University, where I was on scholarship for Piano, Trumpet and French Horn. I have taught General Music, Beginni

Megan is an excellent music teacher that helped show me different ways to overcome challenges that I was having. She is very patient and kind and she worked hard to make connections with me and personalize my lessons.

I honestly think one of the best decisions of my life was deciding to take a lesson with a music teacher I found through a friend. I was nine and desperate to find a teacher who would take me seriously and help me grow as a musician. I remember first liking her Harry Potter necklace, and then being so surprised that she taught me in an hour the chords I had been trying to learn on my own for six months. Six years later, Megan has become not only my mentor, best friend, and biggest supporter, but has also modeled for me how to be a strong, confident woman in today's society. She constantly pushes me to be better, and she is always there for me whether it be for music theory questions or movie suggestions. I would not be where I am today musically, lyrically, or emotionally without Megan and her amazing lessons. I owe so so much to her and continue to learn so much from every class. She is everything I hope to be and the best teacher anyone could hope for.
Amanda
Megan has been instructing my sons for over 8 years. She began with piano but as their interests grew and changed, she helped them move to learning the electric bass, drums and ukulele. My kiddos have very strong personalities. I do not put them in classes with just anyone. Megan has consistently showed up with strength and excellence, inviting my sons to not just grow in their love for music but in their character. They have learned to persevere when things are challenging and Megan is there to guide them in that with a mastery that is hard to find anywhere else. As an educator myself, I have been deeply impressed with Megan’s musical ability and her absolute to connect with and instruct my kids. She has been a huge part of their development, not just in the arts but in their lives.

We are going to HAVE FUN! I will be customizing your lessons to your needs, your skill level, your age, and most importantly, what you would like to learn on the Ukulele. The Ukulele is such a fun instrument to play. It's a small instrument with a big sound. There are 4 different sizes: Soprano, Concert, Tenor, and Baritone. Soprano is the smallest and the Baritone is the largest.

I teach the first 3 sizes for the reason being they all have same string arrangement which is G, C, E, A. The Baritone is tuned to D, G, B, E. The Baritone can be tuned to G, C, E, A, but will require a different set of strings to do so. If you own a Baritone and wish to have lessons, you'll need to change the strings, then proceed to tune to G, C, E, A.

If you want the true Hawaiian sound you will need the Soprano Ukulele. If you have really big hands or thick fingers you might want to go with the Concert or Tenor size so it will be easier to play.

I will help you sight read music (new songs) which ...

My ten year old granddaughter has zip experience with any musical instrument, but she elected to try the saxophone. Rhonda is an excellent instructor. Her praise is genuine and her corrections are gentle. My granddaughter’s comment after her first thirty minute lesson was, “ That was a short lesson..only about five minutes!” That says it all! Highly recommend Rhonda!

Rhonda was knowledgeable, fun and professional. She started where I was at and moved me along at my own pace. The music choices were great. Challenging but absolutely doable. Can't wait for my next lesson!!
