I am an avowed uke aficionado, and believe this little instrument has way more potential than most people give it credit for. It works wonderfully for providing basic chords to accompany songs. For the more ambitious and/or adventures uke players out there, it can also yield amazing results as a melody instrument. Jazz, classical, world music and pop are all great on the uke. I love to help you do whatever you are looking to do with your uke.

About Luke
I majored in music at Berea College, then went on to The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where I completed a Masters degree in guitar performance and served as the graduate assistant to the guitar department.

For the past ten years I have earned a living performing and teaching guitar. I am a certified Suzuki instructor, and I've held teaching positions at Winston Salem State University and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, along with at least half a dozen other schools and institutions. I've been featured on other artists' records, and received a grant to release an album of my own songs. I regularly perform in a wide variety of bands and ensembles.

I love to teach, and over the years I have taught hundreds, maybe even thousands of lessons. Having learned something from each and every one
of my students, I am now at a point where I excel at honing in on the individual interests and learning styles of whoever comes to me for help. There are many ways to learn guitar. The best one is the one that engages and inspires you the most. That said, there are also music fundamentals that we all need to know. My joy as a teacher lies in finding a way for you to master the fundamentals while at the same time following your personal bliss and intuition. We plot the course together, combining your curiosity and enthusiasm with my years of experience.

I also love working with kids. While they are having fun jamming, I discretely provide them with the technique and musicianship they'll need to excel in any musical environment, whether it's conservatory study or playing in a great band.

*** Lesson Details ***
Your enthusiasm is the key to your success, so my lessons are tailored to the interests and abilities of each student. That said, my classical background and dedication to effective teaching inform everything I do.

All of my students learn Music Fundamentals:
-Technique (habits of movement)
-Theory (how music works)
-Aural skills (hearing pitches, chords and rhythms clearly)

Many of my students use books. There are hundreds of great books these days, and I will work with students from any book they choose. Listed here are the books I regularly use. They all deliver great results:

-Aaron Shearer "Leaning The Classic Guitar"
-Will Schmidt and Greg Koch "The Hal Leonard Method"
-Joe Pecoraro "Read This First"
-David Oaks "Music Reading For Guitar"
-William Leavitt "A Modern Method For Guitar"
-Mateo Carcassi "Melodic and Progressive Studies, Opus 60"
-Leo Brouwer "Simple Studies"

Many of my students prefer to work without a book, and that is a great option too. These students learn scales, chords and theory and develop a repertoire of songs. I will show you how to play any song you'd like to learn. You can also work on writing your own songs or compositions, or improvising in any context, be it jazz, blues, Indian raga or flamenco.

Singing is also encouraged!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Home studio: music stands, extensive library of all kinds of music, great sound system and ability to stream any song, several guitars, recording equipment, footstools, keyboard and percussion instruments.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I'll bring my guitar and books, accessories as needed.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in versatility. I regularly play gigs doing classical, jazz, blues, rock, pop, and world music. All of these genres have a place in my heart, and I've devoted years to learning to play and teach them well.

I am equally polyamorous when it comes to the various things musicians do. I love to sing pop songs, dissect jazz lines, delve into expressive groupings with classical pieces, drill scales and arpeggios, you name it. Reading, improvising, composing and notating, transcribing and playing by ear, memorization, classical technique, blues technique, bluegrass technique, theoretical analysis... hit me up for any of that, or whatever else interests you.

Ukulele is a fun little instrument that can provide hours of entertainment. We'll begin by learning the parts of the instrument and the history of it then move right into learning chords to play songs!

About Steve
When I was growing up I thought music was like magic and that only special people with super-human powers could play. I would think to myself, "How are they doing that? I would never be able to play music in a million years!" It wasn't until I was 14 I discovered guitar magazines and a method of reading called guitar tablature that I realized anybody can learn guitar! With determination, patience, and practice I learned as many songs and techniques from my heroes (The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin) as I could. I realized there is so much to learn about music that I could learn something new everyday. This still holds true to this day. I keep digging to find that magic place to which music can take you. It is my goal as a musician and a teacher to help other aspiring musicians (YOU!) find their way to the joys of music. After graduat
ing high school my passion for music kept growing and I decided to go to a school to learn more about it. While attending Moorhead State University of Minnesota I went through a speed boost to gaining knowledge about music. The wonderful teachers of MSUM provided me with direction, encouragement, and plenty of opportunities to play through ensembles. I was in Jazz Guitar Ensemble, Jazz Combos, Jazz Big Band, and Commercial Ensembles. My aspirations are to pass along the information torch that I received while attending MSUM to people who are interested and have the desire to make a sound.I am friendly, patient, and fun to work with. I believe music should be exciting and make you feel good. I teach on an individual basis. Everybody learns at different rates and in different ways. My goal is to find the best way to teach you so that you get the most out of our lessons. There are many streams that lead to the big ocean of music so there are many different ways to learn. Whether you want to learn rock, jazz, bluegrass, or folk I am flexible with teaching you what you want to learn while at the same time providing you with little golden nuggets of information to further your skills through music theory, technique exercises, and how to avoid common pit falls. With enough determination, patience, and practice you too can discover the joys of music and be able to express your individuality in a way you never thought possible. It would be an honor to help you find your own path down the road to musical bliss.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a laid back person with an easy going approach to teaching. Music is meant to be fun! I teach you what you want to learn. I have had experience with playing rock, jazz, bluegrass, and folk. If you are not sure what you want to learn I'll ask you questions about yourself and your interests to determine the best route to go. Within the first few lessons you will learn how to tune your instrument, how to read tablature (TABS for short), and how to read chord charts. If you are interested in learning theory and how to read music I teach out of the Hal Leonard Guitar Method book series. After the first six months, depending on your level and how much you practice, you will be well on your to playing full songs by your favorite artists, have the ability to jam with other musicians, and understand the basics of your instrument. It is my belief that you get out of music what you put into it. There are no short cuts. All of the masters have one thing in common and that is practice. If you are willing to put in the work I am obliged to give you direction.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Music stand, amp, instrument cable, picks

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide an amp and picks. I expect the student to provide an instrument, instrument cable (if using an electric instrument), tuner, metronome, notebook (either tab book or regular notebook),

*** Specialties ***
I play an eclectic blend of rock, jazz, folk, and bluegrass. My method of teaching is based on the individual's level and type of learning.

Oh boy, do I love the Ukulele! This instrument is FUN. I became passionate about the ukulele a few years ago. This instrument is fun. We will learn our chords, learn a lot of unique strumming patters and work on our rhythm. We will also learn how to take some classic rock and roll guitar songs and turn them into happy-go-lucky-uke tunes!
This instrument is PERFECT for beginners - adults and children!

About Rachel
I started my musical path in a Ballet Studio. I fell in love with the crackle of the vinyl record playing as I learned to listen and dance with the rhythm.

I started playing the guitar when I was in elementary and took classical lessons until I was a teenager.I really enjoy the art of practice and the journey of patience. The process of learning has helped me carve out and cultivate my style of music. It's opened up a lot of doors for me in my life. I've had the honor to play with a lot of great performers and have been lucky enough to tour the U.S. and Canada with festivals and showcases such as Vans Warped Tour, South By Southwest and the Halifax Pop Explosion.I've been the opening act for Carolyn Wonderland, Maria Taylor, Tsunami Bomb, Tilly and the Wall, Basia Bulat, Rise Against, Strike Anywhere. Anathallo, Cursive, Milton Hopki
ns, and Pony Up.

When I have free time I volunteer with the Houston Chapter of Girls Rock Camp to help teach girls empowerment through songwriting and music.

I began teaching as an afterschool job when I was 16. I was homeschooled, so I feel that the experience taught me that everyone learns differently and that there is not just one standardized method to playing music.

My teaching style varies with each student, but the one constant is my ability to make each and every client I encounter completely fall in LOVE with music. It's my super power.

Lesson plans are tailored for your specific needs and to help you achieve your musical goals and aspirations at your desired pace. I enjoy my students and making music with them.

Here is an overview of the lessons that I provide.

Guitar:
Finger Picking, Song Writing, Rhythm, Lead, Scales,Modes & Ear Training.

Songwriting and composition: Learn techniques, how to brain storm and plot your musical story line. This class pairs great with vocal lessons or guitar lessons.

I use the internet during practice to accelerate learning and show students how to teach themselves effectively. I am excellent with kids 8-15yrs. I play 5 instruments and teach guitar, ukulele, and bass for Classic Rock, R&B and Pop music.

With each lesson you will find fun and easy to understand ways to improve your playing tailored just for you. No internet video can do that.

About Michael
Hello future rockstars! Now is the time for you to unlock your potential and take your interest in the guitar to the next level. Whether it is for a future career, a hobby, or just to be able to play a song for your friends, I can develop a personalized plan to get you the results you desire.

I have been able to get a recent student of mine (9 yrs old) play a song on the guitar by the end of the first lessson. Another student (7yrs old) could play their favorite ukulele song after 2 lessons. I teach students how to learn faster and practice better, which leads to better results. I teach with enthusiasm and patience, and keep students engaged and excited about learning an instrument.

About Me: I just graduated from Cal State Fullerton and have been a performing and recording musician since the age of 14. I have played in restaurants,
weddings, bars and other venues all around Orange County and LA as a lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist, and bassist. I specialize in playing electric guitar in R&B and Pop music.

I believe in creating a positive and exciting work environment where we can have you develop at your own pace in a productive way. A great teacher is one that customizes their lesson to fit the student's individual needs while making the lesson educational and fun.

Being that I am one of the younger guitar teachers out there, I am able to better relate to younger students to understand their sticking points.

Do you still have some questions before you try the first lesson? I am available to answer your questions! Just message me through this website and I will respond within only a few hours.

Drawing upon my extensive background as a performer in music and theater, I encourage stu
dents to take creative risks, to be expressive, and above all, to play with joy! All students have the opportunity to share their progress with family and friends during fun, low-stress, semi-annual recitals. (Participation is optional but highly encouraged!)

Teaching Materials:
I use the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures books as a foundation, but also incorporate other music, including classical, pop and theatre music, depending upon student interest and what I feel will best help my students to stretch and grow! We've only had one lesson with Allison so far. Working with a 4 year old is a special kind of challenge and we had an excellent first experience! I think her judgment of my daughter's skill level was very accurate and her first song choice was spot-on. My daughter needed something that would exercise her skills but be easy enough to restore her confidence and bring the fun back to her lessons. We look forward to continuing lessons with her.

Ukulele is one of the most fun instruments and, I believe anybody could learn it quickly. I have been teaching Uke for over 8 years and it has been an amazing connection with all my students so far. It's great to learn your favorite songs, Christmas tunes, Beatles or anything we could adopt for Uke. I also have some material for the students may take it more advanced levels, that could be challenging to study. Let's learn Ukulele for real, and have real fun.

About Evren
I am a professional guitarist, composer and songwriter. I completed my education at Los Angeles Music College, and UCLA Film Scoring. I extended my studies with a 6 times Emmy award winner composer, and conductor for over 3 years privately in Hollywood, which provided me work for television, and independent films as a musician and a composer.

Music is my passion. I teach guitar students all different ages and levels. I worked professionally as a guitar and bass player for 2 decades, touring, and recording with artists all over the world. I have great and fun material for both guitar and bass guitar students which fits their levels perfectly. I also teach the Ukulele, and it has been one of the most fun experiences for me to connect with students working on Ukulele. I believe anyone can play the Uke.

Studying orchestration require me to
learn and improve my Piano skills whole a lot. I teach Piano now almost 10 years and have excellent books, and other material to learn the Piano in a fun way. I teach all ages, and specifically focus on beginner and intermediate levels since I also have taught Piano group classes last 5 years to same level students that are children and teenagers.

Since I have amazing opportunities to compose music for film and network TV shows, I got requests from students to teach them recording software, such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, and Garage Band as well as sample libraries. I can help you get better and faster on recording DAW.

I am open to work with anyone on any styles. Some of my favorites genres are: Classical, Jazz, Funk, Bossa Nova, Latin Jazz, Rock, Blues, Film Music and World Music. I look forward to meeting you, and be a part of your musical journey.

Mr. Evern is an excellent teacher: thoughtful and accommodating (to each child's temperament, abilities, interest and goals) which is most important to me as a parent. My kids are not "naturally" inclined to music and did not exhibit any "natural" talent, and they were skeptical about their ability to learn. But Mr. Evern was encouraging, funny, and fun - and this made all the difference. My children (each with his own very different traits) have taken acoustic guitar, uekelele, and piano with Mr. Evern, and they both love him. As a (non-music) teacher myself, I appreciate his pedagogical methods which take into account the context of each situation. As a parent, I appreciate his encouraging nature.

I regularly perform around the Washington, DC, area as a solo guitarist, as a singer/songwriter, and with numerous classical, folk, rock, and musical theater groups. My primary musical influences include folk and world music, J.S. Bach, cool jazz, prog rock, American primitive, and contemporary guitar music.

I have recorded several CDs of my original compositions, including music for solo acoustic guitar, chamber music for classical banjo, and scores for live theater productions. I have also recorded and produced CDs of other recording artists.

I teach private and group lessons on guitar, banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and bass guitar at my home studio in Maryland, at several area music schools, and online. With my broad performance and compositional back
ground, I offer students a wide musical perspective and tailor lessons to match student interests. I work with students on music of their choosing to improve technique and develop an understanding of music theory, improvisation, and composition. For classical guitar students who would like to pursue the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) graded exams, I offer coaching in preparation for all aspects of the practical exams.

Mark has been a great teacher for this adult beginner! I take lessons in clawhammer banjo and ukulele with him, and his easy-going nature and skill in identifying ways to improve make it a joyful experience! Highly recommend.

Mr. Sylvester is one of the greatest. He is not just an amazing guitarist, but he is also very kind. He treats people with so much respect. He speaks to me and my mom so nicely. He is very patient. He has a deep knowledge of music and knows how to get the most out of even the least talented people (like me!). He doesn't ever get mad if you make a mistake or forget to bring your music notes. We were so lucky to find Mr. Sylvester.

Mark is a talented musician who plays and teaches multiple stringed instruments. His lessons are always informative and supportive. They are driven by the student’s interest, so anything you want o learn— styles of music, how to do a particular technique, music theory— you can bring to class. And every now and then he organizes a recital— terrifying but great practice!
