I have been teaching Piano for 16 years now. I have taught students from age 2 1/2 - Adult. I was self-taught when I was a kid and begun taking formal lessons as a very young adult in my early twenties. I graduated from CSULB with my BA in Music with a concentration on Voice. As a Music major you spend a lot of time at the Piano. I became a member of MTAC in 2004 and a member of Sigma Alpha Iota in 1998. In my opinion, piano is the hardest instrument to learn but the most rewarding. If you can play piano you can pretty much play any instrument. I believe that a piano lesson should be fun. I'm a strict teacher with a smile and a giggle. I push my students to greatness while helping the
m love the piano through the good times and the bad. I'm a very encouraging but honest teacher. I compliment when warranted and I assess not so good performances in an honest but encouraging manner. I always let a student know that though their performance was not their best, they can and will improve. It's always only a matter of time. I use the Schaum and Nevin series depending on the student's personality. I teach Classical and Pop Music. It's important for a student to learn the Classics just as important as it is for them to play things they like. I find the happy balance between the two. I teach Beginning to Intermediate levels. I also like to incorporate Music theory into the lessons because understanding the mechanics of Music helps make playing and creating Music much easier to accomplish. A typical lesson will start off with a hand drill warm up. We then will move on to the lesson book and repertoire. Theory will be assigned as homework. I look it over at the beginning of the lesson and discuss it and answer any questions in the last five minutes of class. Baby lessons go as followed: 15 mins. of play time and 15 mins of Music theory. I like to keep structure in my lessons but sprinkle a little joy and laughter to keep the atmosphere light. It makes for a much more attentive Piano student.

A Note From Francesca:

My official bio is listed below, but perhaps more important than the things I have done are the things that I am doing. I am now approaching my 15th year of teaching. I love to teach! I carry a minimum of 30 students, but have carried more then 80 at one time, and have never once complained. My waiting list cycles based on my performance schedule and recording schedule. If you don't see a time that works for you, feel free to reach out and see if we can find something that works, as an artist, my schedule can be quite full but also quite flexible. I love my students, I get to do what I love all day and I am sure it shows. I have a blast discovering new ways to experience music with "my kids." I call all of my students kids even though most of my studio consists of young adults. I try to have a young air in my classes at all times as it just makes the process so much more fun for everyone.

I've seen it all in through years: kids, adults, beginners and advanced students. I am personally very interested in being the most versatile musician possible and I love being able to share my knowledge with my students. We can study anything and everything from Classical Guitar to Electric Guitar Shredding; from Opera to Kelly Clarkson; from Tchaikovsky to Little Richard! I love getting students to dabble in little bits of all genres, often getting even the most skeptical student singing and playing comfortably in a matter of just a few weeks. My students will be able to read music for their favorite tunes and understand how to improvise from the start. Once you come in, you'll be hooked. You will have fun because I am having fun!

I encourage all of my students to share their favorite music with me. It affords me the opportunity to learn more about what they desire to learn and what types of music they enjoy. We will learn with your music often. After all, isn't that why you are coming to see me? I will introduce you to new sounds and styles, but will foster your love for music, and do my best to never force my music on students. I feel I learn as much from my students when I truly listen to them and their music as they do from me.

On site lessons are available for artists recording demos, rehearsing bands and setting up their own studios.

On a side note, I love seeing students at my shows! I am a full time musician and can be seen playing with my band, in my own solo project and in various choral settings. Check out my website and see what I do outside of the classroom. My students get a kick out of the idea that they can buy a CD with their teachers face on it, and to be honest, so do I. Many of my students have their own music out on iTunes and YouTube. Many more can be seen performing around town in solo projects and professional ensembles.

I feel obligated to share my joys and experiences-

Not many people have been blessed to sing alongside as many renowned musicians as I have - I've been lucky to be welcomed in both the commercial and classical worlds and they have both afforded me venues to use my voice and express the most vital corners of my soul. To find your purpose through art is one of the greatest gifts you can receive. And to be able to do that in front of thousands of music lovers live or over the airwaves is a surreal experience.

It'€™s funny, my classical cronies are impressed to hear my stories of packed rock gigs at the House Blues and national touring festivals like Warped Tour and my rock buddies ask to hear my stories of Disney Hall performances with the LA Phil. To be honest, Iâ'm impressed to be there too. Sometimes, I look around and think, how did I get here? How did I get lucky enough to live the dream, to find a home in music?

I've been luckier than most. I've had GREAT mentors who have always pushed me forward and shared their wisdom freely with me. Part of the classical musician's central goal is to educate. I have come to be known as one of the top Musical Mentors & Artist Development Experts on the west coast. Francesca is fantastic!! By the end of our first lesson I already had a basic grasp on so many elements and was able to work my way through a couple songs! I didn’t expect that at all. Francesca is patient and intuitive, meaning that she seems to understand just what you need in a lesson and leads you right to it. I am looking forward to learning so much more!!

Hello! After earning my Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Voice from Hunter College in 2011, I have been working successfully as a singer, voice coach, and academic tutor. As a singer, over the past 8 years I have performed at professional theaters across the country, including Off-Broadway and at the world-renown Carnegie Hall. I specialize in musical theatre, but have a thorough classical technique, as well as strong pop/rock/belt training.

We practiced the new cadence for example of the deceptive cadence, the plagal cadence, and the phrygian. we learnt the basic root progression. a standard method of connecting triads with roots a fifth apart is to hold the common tone in the same voice and move all the other parts to the closest possible chord number. We learn about mediant triads s well.some ways using cadence that I can expand my harmonization practice is in general, when tempted to part write or analyze a chord in common-practice music as iii (in major), give the context further thought. i imagine with this knowledge it ill help me to compose a better harmonize song.
We practice together the scale degrees that are designated by Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3...), chor ds are similarly designated by Roman numerals (I, II, III). For example, in the key of C major the notes are C,D,E,F,G,A,B and we have designated them as 1,2,3,4,5,6,7. However, when we consider the triad chords in the key of C we have Cmaj, Dm, Em, Fmaj, Gmaj, Am, Bdim. These are designated I,II,III,IV,V,VI,VII. When speaking about these chords, for instance in the key of C major, we would call Gmaj the five chord, Dm the two chord,

The easiest way to find an interval's name is to first, count all the pitch names present, including the notes themselves (ignore sharps and flats at this point). Then, find out (had it been missing a flat or sharp) what type of interval it would be, depending on whether it is perfect (a 1,4,5,8) or major (2,6,7). If there are no sharps or flats, you are done. If there are, figure out if the flat or sharp decreases or increases the distance between the two pitches. If it increases the distance, the interval is augmented. If it decreases the distance, and the interval would otherwise be perfect, it is diminished. If it decreases the distance and the interval would otherwise be major, it is min that is what I learnt

Mariana was great! Very professional and able to explain the techniques in a very clear way. When I began, I was very nervous and self-conscious. She was patient and kind and never made me feel embarrassed!

She really knows her stuff and technique. I'd been to a few voice teachers before and they were great singers, but they didn't seem to have to really KNOW the techniques behind singing. Mariana clearly is a wonderful singer and has great training in what she does.

I have been teaching Acting, Competitive Speech, Creative Writing, Slam Poetry, Stage Makeup, Scenic Painting, and Technical Theatre since 2007 to both private students and to students in the Public School System. I have been the Performing Arts Coordinator & Stage Makeup Teacher in Jenks for the last four years. I was Drama Teacher, Competitive Speech Coach and Technical Director at Central Fine & Performing Arts Magnet in Tulsa, OK for six years before that. I served on many Committees during my tenure there such as the Magnet Advisory Committee, Tulsa Public School's Fine Arts Committee, and the Diversity Event Planning Committee. I developed a Technical Theatre Crew at Central where students were instrumental in all aspects of design, stage management, and crew over seventy-five
shows in a five year period. I proudly led my students to obtaining the 1st Place OSSAA Regional Technical Crew Award for the school year 2009-2010.

I have coached many State Qualifiers in Speech and Debate Competitions as well as Rotary Club Competitions, Jack & Jill Foundations Competitions, Omega Psi Competitions, Louder Than a Bomb Slam Poetry Contest, and Tulsa County's "I Have a Dream" Speech Competition.

I have had the pleasure to work with students with disabilities and have seen great results in performance with students having Asperger's Syndrome.

I am also an Inspirational Speaker, Standup Comedian and Actress. I enjoy performing at churches for a variety of functions and acting at local Theatres and for film.

James Wagner is actually the best teacher of creative work I've ever had in any field, and as a writer/ filmmaker/ musician dude, I have had a lot! His teaching is rigorous, passionate, and results-driven, while remaining flexible and sensitive at the same time. His knowledge of acting and theatre theory is endless. He is always trying to expand the possibilities in his classes, bringing in guest speakers, and facilitating unexpected exercises. He is also an inspiring, warm hearted person. Kate and I started a theatre company with actors we all met in his classes, so that should tell you something. I honestly would not be the same person had I not encountered his generous vision of acting and theatre. You cannot go wrong by having him as a coach or teacher.

I met James when I took his class at Berkeley Rep (Eugene O'neill scene studies). I immediately knew he was the kind of Acting coach I'd want to train me, the level of professionalism and high standards is invaluable. During a short trip to LA, I met with James for a 3 hours coaching in which we created a 3 year plan to go from Student actor to working actor this was followed up with some online (Skype) sessions. Next I took another scene study with James at Berkeley Rep in which we workshopped Contemporary plays, James in a kind, professional way was able to push me to the level he knew and expected his students to be. And recently I took an Actor's retreat end of last year, again I left the retreat so inspired and motivated. I can tell you now that I have been in a few Theatre productions, I have and continue to meet the goals we set out for me sooner than what we had mapped out. I couldn't have done it without James vast knowledge of acting and motivation. I highly recommend you study with James!

I've studied with James in both a workshop context, and one-to-one on-line. Both were very valuable and enjoyable experiences. James is a very skilled actor, a very learned man, and an insightful teacher and director. Each element of his teaching is a different expression of a life that is clearly committed to his art as an actor. I found working with him to provide a deep new view of the playwright we studied (Albee in our case), and a very supportive guide to my personal work as an actor. I can highly recommend him.
