About Perry
Hello!

My name is Perry and I am a professional classical, flamenco and electric guitarist performing and recording in the Dallas area. I studied with Robert Guthrie at SMU for many years, as well as Brad McLemore of "Soul Food Cafe" and professional jazz musician Chuck Pangburn at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. In addition, I have taken masterclasses w/ many professional guitarists in all styles such as the flamenco guitarist Miguel Antonio.

I am familiar with all styles. I teach using a foundation in classical/flamenco style and technique. I have found that for my own career as a recording artist in both the classical, acoustic and electric guitar fields that the classical/flamenco styles are the most useful for developing and training the hands to become a consummate professional.

I teac
h beginner to advanced students of any age. I also can provide pro and amateur electric guitarists an in-depth study of correct hand postures and left-hand/right-hand technique which can help to refine their overall technique and stylistic approach. I can also advise professional electric guitarists on their electronics, effects pedals, and amplifiers to achieve their own individual sound. I also teach Bass, and reading the Bass clef.

My teaching specialties include: Solfeggio, Sight Reading, Music Theory, Scales and Modes, Left and Right Hand Technique, Blues Progressions, Jazz Standards the Classical Repertoire, Flamenco styles, techniques and repertoire, and the works of Sor, Giuliani, and Carcassi, Brouwer, Aguado, Villa-Lobos, Sabicas and Paco de Lucia.

I have an in-depth knowledge of the stylistic approaches and techniques of such guitarists as Eric Johnson, Jeff Beck, Joe Satriani, Randy Rhoads, Jimi Hendrix, Robert Fripp, Adrian Belew, and SRV to name a few, and I can teach you the components they use to build their signature licks.

As a rule I only transcribe to give the students examples for lessons. I intend for all of my students to grow as musicians, so my lessons do not consist solely of transcribed solos and riffs.

I have a vast library of music, so I can draw from my own resources to teach you, or from a method of your choosing.

My schedule has a few openings right now. I do teach outside of my stated teaching radius, but ONLY at the 60 minute rate.

I teach people of all ages, from children to adults. I believe everyone is on an even keel, if they are willing and eager to learn.

*** Lesson Details ***
Emphasis on classical posture and technique.
Emphasis on sight-reading.
All students learn to play basic blues and jam
Technique varies depending on the particular style the student wishes to learn.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I presently don't teach in my home studio. I can bring a folding music stand or extra footstool if necessary.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide a limited number of learning materials such as copied exercises, listening or practicing CD on occasion. However, I feel that it is the student's responsibility to provide their own guitars, and the bulf of their own learning materials and necessary electronic equipment. This can include footstools, music stands, method books, amps, cables, pedals, etc.

*** Specialties ***
I've been playing guitar for 25 years, and this has given me the time to study, perform, and perfect many styles of guitar playing.

I studied classical and flamenco guitar with Robert Guthrie for 4 years before and after my studies in the SMU program. I've also played in jazz and rock ensembles since the age of 14. I studied with Chuck Pangburn, pro jazz cat, and Brad McLemore, an indie rock songwriter, early on in my studies as an adolescent.

I encourage most students to learn to play on a classical or nylon-string guitar early on in order to develop proper technique, posture, sensitivity, and sensibility. I also encourage all students to learn to sight-read at a very early point in their studies. Once, this hurdle is cleared many other challenges are easily surpassed.

Presently, I am developing a new method which incorporates solfeggio, blues and popular music forms, and improvisational playing. I also am exploring the vanguard of new guitar technology such as the Moog Guitar, analog effects, and various guitar synthesizers.

I try to introduce an understanding of music theory early on so that students develop a full comprehension of not only the written language of music, but also the sonic-aural language of music.

Perry takes the time to explain flamenco and related styles deeply and thoroughly. He also provides detailed micro-scale feedback on hand/arm placement, orientation, range and which muscle groups to engage. But more than the technical, he has an awesome vibe and makes learning guitar quite an enjoyable experience.

Excellent Guitar Teacher

Within a month of lessons with Perry, my daughter was in love with the guitar! Perry is professional and great with kids! He couples the basics with discourse about genre, and is very encouraging! Perry helped guide us in the right guitar and accessories to get us set up before the lessons began, which was incredibly helpful. We are very glad we selected Perry to teach our 7-year old to play guitar and look forward to watching her grow under his guidance.

Berklee College of Music graduate teaching Blues Guitar. Topics include: History of the blues, blues harmony, blues rhythm patterns, the turnaround, mastering the pentatonic and blues scale, blues soloing techniques, phrasing, analysis of songs and artists in various blues styles, using other scales and modes in a blues context, intermediate to advanced blues rhythm guitar playing, advanced blues improvisation techniques.

About Andy
I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 2002 with a Bachelor's of Music Degree (Majors: Guitar Performance, Contemporary Writing & Production).

I always create a personalized lesson plan for each individual student based on musical background, current abilities on the instrument, musical preferences (styles, bands, artists, songs) and student goals. For students with no prior musical training I prefer to go through a beginner's guitar method book along with my own materials to cover all the basics (parts of the guitar, tuning, reading standard music notation and tablature, rhythm, basic chords, etc.) If students are unsure about what songs they want to learn, I also have a huge collection of song transcriptions for different skill levels and in many different styles (Blues, Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical). Even though I can teach
all these styles to a certain degree, my specialization is in Rock and Blues. At Berklee I have studied with a lot of great guitar teachers. Among them Jon Finn and Joe Stump. I have studied extensively with Joe Stump in private lessons for 6 semesters and incorporate a lot of the material I have learned there into my own lessons. At the intermediate to advanced level I cover all important solo guitar techniques (Alternate Picking, Legato, Sweeping, Hybrid Picking, Tapping).

If you are stuck or can't get through certain barriers, I may be able to show you techniques or new ways to break through these barriers. You can finally get the results you always wanted or achieve skill levels you never imagined were possible. It does not need to take 10 years to become proficient at an instrument. Big improvements can be experienced after just a few months with the right training.

And most importantly, I believe music should be fun. I always try to make the experience of learning the guitar as enjoyable as possible.

My lessons are all about fast results!
If you see fast results you will have more fun.
If you have more fun learning the guitar you will practice more.
If you practice more you will get better faster.

So, your goals are most important to me and help in designing your lesson plans. If you are unsure I can help in setting goals. To reach your goals it is sometimes necessary to fill in gaps that prevent you from getting there, such as an understanding of music theory concepts (scales, chords, arpeggios, etc.) and improving technical skills on the guitar (legato, alternate picking, sweeping, etc.).

I can teach almost any style of Music, but I am best in Blues and Rock Styles, especially Classic Rock from the 60's, 70's, 80's, Blues Guitar, Hard Rock and Modern Rock Guitar Styles.

No better guitar teacher than Andy Mueller. I began with him when I was 10, and was able to progressive extremely because of his knowledge and methods of teaching. I am now 21 living in Paris, playing gigs and still remember and have all those sheets of scales he gave me years ago!

Anyway, hope all is well. If I ever find myself back in Dallas I will make sure to give you a call.

Andy taught both of my sons guitar from the time they were 10 and 13 until they both graduated from high school. He is an amazing teacher! Andy had both boys playing simple tunes from the very first lesson, which was so much more effective than teaching tedious scales and theory. They were hooked right from the beginning and continued to improve rapidly with Andy's method of teaching new material and styles, as well as reading music and advanced theory as their skills improved. Andy is very talented, patient, organized and creative in his ability to come up with new and interesting ways to learn. Both of my sons still play guitar. Andy has instilled in them a love of the instrument that will be with them for life. I give him 5 stars and recommend him highly! Melissa Auberty - Dallas, Texas

I am an experienced, educated, professional guitar player with a background in rock, blues, worship, jazz, classical, contemporary, country, and folk guitar. I have played/led for numerous worship teams, independent bands, and ensembles which are detailed in my "about me" section. I graduated Magna-Cum Laude from UTA with a bachelors degree in Music-Media with guitar as my primary performing instrument. I am the worship leader for Living Life Church, a private guitar instructor an intern under Brad Nyght at The Bakery Studio, and a freelance musician/producer/composer.

About Jordan
13 years ago, I picked up a guitar and began my life-long pursuit of music. This pursuit has led me in a wide variety of directions. Today, I am the worship leader for Living Life Church, an on-staff music-producer and session musician at Drive35 Productions, and a passionate instructor.

I have a passion for a wide variety of styles of music. For several years, I was the lead guitarist, singer, and songwriter for multiple independent rock bands, the most notable being an indie psychedelic band called Tod The Fox. I have led worship for many churches including Grace Fellowship UMC, Brazos Pointe Church, The Cornerstone College Ministry at UTA, and FUMC Allen in varying capacities. At UTA, I studied Jazz and Classical guitar under acclaimed guitarists Sam Walker and Billy Robertson. Here, I also studied theory, piano, sight-singing, an
d music-production extensively. I graduated Magna Cume Laude with a Bachelor of Music-Media from UTA. After school, I spent 9 months interning/assistant engineering with acclaimed musician/composer/producer Brad Nyght at The Bakery Studio in Dallas- whose credits include being the drummer for The Michael Gungor Band and Desperation Band. Then, got hired as an on-staff session musician and music producer at Drive35 Productions. I have also played guitar, mandolin, and bass for multiple pit orchestras and guitar for the North Lake Jazz Ensemble with director Jim Eger.

My teaching style varies from student to student. Music is a wonderfully diverse subject and every student has his own aspirations. I will do my best to cater each lesson to the student's goals and interests. Whether that is classical guitar method, rock, jazz, folk, country, pop or anything in between.

I have an excellent internet connection and microphone set up for online lessons. I also utilize screen-sharing to make the lessons as close to real life as possible.

A few of my favorite artists include: Michael Gungor, Joe Pass, Andrew Bird, Chopin, Led Zeppelin, Glen Hansard, and Radiohead.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons will vary significantly from student to student. Not only does every student have different goals in mind, they all learn differently as well. I do my best to customize my lessons for each student's goals and needs. A typical guitar, bass, ukulele, or piano lesson may involve music-reading, chord studies, technical work, scale practice, theory, and of course learning awesome songs!

I consider myself a healthy balance between professional and light-hearted. As much as I want to make efficient use of the lesson-time, my primary goal is for the student to truly understand and enjoy music.

I have worked hard to be a flexible musician and teacher. I am competent in jazz, rock, classical, contemporary, blues, worship, country, and beyond and will be happy to teach any (or all) of these styles to any student.

I have been working with Jordan for nearly a year, learning ukulele and guitar. Jordan is an excellent teacher, has a friendly and upbeat personality, and is flexible with scheduling. Our lessons typically involve learning a song of my choosing (which makes the process enjoyable) and learning about music theory. I have steadily improved over the past year and am confident that I wouldn't be at the level I am now if I were trying to teach myself through YouTube videos or books. I offer my highest recommendation with no reservations.

My son loves taking guitar lessons from Jordan. We have now been going to him for over a year and Jordan keeps my 14 year-old engaged and excited about music. My son's dream is to learn more than just the guitar so Jordan helps him expand his knowledge by introducing him to other facets of music, while allowing my son to choose the different songs he would like to learn. He is the best teacher my son has ever had.

Nick is a fabulous instructor. As a novice player taking lessons from a pro, he is able to instruct and motivate me to improve my skills. What I like most is his ability to be flexible when teaching the lessons. (I just learned how to pay Purple Rain because I was devastated when Prince died). I shared my feelings with Nick, and he showed me the chords.
He makes my on-line classes feel as though I'm in his home. He is highly skilled and supports my vision of being in a Rock Band one day. He chuckles and ... We Rock on!! I highly recommend Nick!

Hello! I have been performing, writing, and recording for over 10 years, so I have a lot of hands on experience that I can share with my students. I've had my songs placed in film, MTV shows, and have also performed live on television, including "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Beginner students are welcome! I strive to make my lessons personalized, funnnn, and at a comfortable pace. I enjoy teaching songs/styles that my students are actually interested in learning! I am also comfortable teaching in Japanese.

In 2007, I earned my associates degree in music from Musicians Institute Hollywood. I have had my music placed in popular television shows, such as “The Real World” and “Road Rules," as well as the film “The Tested.”

I previously played guitar in a project called Xolie Morra and the Strange Kind. We were featured as the musical guest on the popular late night talk show, "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" in January 2014. If you are tired of guitar teachers who half-try through a song a week leaving you constantly learning new material but somehow never making any progress...stop. You are not doing yourself any favors. What you need is a teacher like David who actually gives a care about your playing and has the ability to break down your technique and give you an analysis of what you need to become a better player. With the benefit of David's coaching, I have made changes to my form and finger placement for the better. These are the hard changes in ingrained habits I needed to make to take my playing to the next level.

I would also encourage you to take advantage of David's expertise as an engineer if you are his student. He has recorded many bands and is very generous with his home studio for his students. The ability to record without the pressure of "being in the studio" is huge. Even if you do not currently have plans to record, the experience of playing in front of a microphone is very educational and listening to the subsequent recording is a great learning tool.

Taking lessons are pointless if both sides are not engaged. David is a rare guitar teacher who is committed to the growth of every student. If you are similarly committed to your own growth, I can't think of a better teacher for you to study the guitar with.

David is unlike any guitar teacher I have worked with. He pays close attention to details like finger placement or guitar hold and listens carefully to correct any bad habits, posture or form. Sometimes you are used to playing a certain way and don't notice some bad form or habits and he's able to diagnose sound issues. David is also great at being encouraging and suggesting ways of playing that makes sense for each song. He customizes the lesson so that you feel good about playing. He makes playing really fun and what seemed hard before, he helps to make it easy. He brings helps you feel like a rockstar after a few lessons. I highly recommend David!

I’ve been teaching professionally for over 20 years, have specific training in guitar (Masters in guitar performance), am proficient in all styles except blue grass, and know how to break down the technical and musical concepts in detail that will help you improve your playing and understanding of music in a fun and engaging way. You’ll learn note reading as well as TAB, chord charts, finger picking, the most popular strum patterns for any style of music, as well as theory (how music works) and more! I have years of experience both teaching AND performing in bands covering a wide variety of musical styles and can pass on helpful tips that can improve your playing.

Your lessons will be well structured so you’ll always know what to work on and how so that your home practices are as ...

About Michelle
The first song that made me want to learn guitar as a kid was Smoke On The Water and Nancy Wilson of Heart inspired me to be a Rock guitarist. I've studied guitar and music from grade school all through college and spent countless hours listening to my favorite songs over and over to figure them out (yeah, that was before youtube was a thing.

I've played guitar in school jazz bands and classical guitar ensembles both recreationally and professionally.

My personal philosophy is that life should be fun and learning music should be GREAT FUN. In all my years of teaching one of the things I've found that makes music fun for the student is when I'm able to teach something they thought was complicated in an easy way that makes the student smile and say "that's it!?! I thought it was more complicated. I can do this!". If that sounds
like the kind of lesson experience you'd like to have then get in touch and let's make music!

One last thing. I have completed a 3rd party independent background check and am most happy to provide you that information so feel free to ask.

I am passionate about seeing students grow. I strive to be energetic yet patient when teaching to create a comfortable dynamic in my lessons that encourages excitement about music.
I have been playing guitar for 9 years, and have performed professionally with groups playing styles ranging from jazz, country, rock, blues, funk, and even musical theatre. I am capable of teaching beginners as well as intermediate students.
My lessons encourage a strong knowledge of fundamentals, so that a student can continue to develop years down the road with their acquired understanding of music, but I also am also careful to tailor lesson material according to a student's interests, personality, and natural learning methods.

About Chris
I love the guitar, and so getting to teach students how to play something that is so dear to me is an absolute joy. I have been playing for 9 years and only keep getting more interested i the instrument. I love playing everything from jazz to country, to finger-style, to blues and used to even dabble in some metal. My professional performance experience includes solo guitar gigs, rock band shows, musical theatre pit work, dance band playing, and gigs along the east coast with rising country acts.
I will graduate from Belmont University in the Spring of 2018 with a degree in Commercial Music, so I have had the "conservatory training" in regards to theory, music history, and studying the guitar, but before college I was largely a self taught player and am now a professionally performing musician here in Nashville. That being said, I can
teach all of the "correct" notions of music from my academic background, but I also have real experience regarding what a musician needs to be able to do if they want to become a professional.
I do my best to make lessons relaxed. I don't ever want a student to be nervous for a lesson with me because they did not practice as much as they think they should. While I encourage as much practice as possible, I care more about a student realizing the positive force that music can be in their lives; music doesn't need to be a stressor.
