Monologues, scenes, audition techniques, I do it all! If you need to prepare for an audition, I'm definitely your girl. I lived in New York City for 13 years, and i know all about auditions! If you just want to start learning about acting, or just work on your craft, I'm your girl too!

About Tara
I graduated from University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA! I received a BFA in Musical Theatre. What a change that was to go from Texas to Philly! I auditioned for many different schools, and know what it takes to get there. I then moved to New York City 2 days after graduating, on my 22nd birthday! I had 13 wonderful, and also challenging, years in NYC. Lots and lots of auditions, of every kind! Broadway, Off-Broadway, TV, Soaps, Film, Commercials, Concerts, Readings, Showcases, etc. I have sung for ABBA (Mama Mia), Stephen Schwartz (Wicked), Hal Prince (Gypsy). I was also up for leads in Mama Mia, Wicked, Rent, Hairspray. So, I definitely have a lot of versatility, and knowledge of what they're looking for! I did a Eugene O'Neil play called "Ah Wilderness" at the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, MN. We opened there, and then t
oured it all over the Midwest for 6 months. I did appear on NBC's Law & Order as a featured role, with the late Jerry Orbach. Lot's of experience, lot's of knowledge, and I'm excited to share it with you!

*** Lesson Details ***
I like to teach in a laid back manner. That's not to say that I don't expect you to work too though! I don't necessarily teach one specific method. I feel like if you can get ALL the information, and different methods, then you can choose what best works for your voice , or your piano playing. I want my students to feel comfortable and safe to explore all different facets of their talent. After all, the little imperfections are what make us all unique!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a keyboard, among many other instruments! My husband uses those, I use the piano. There's definitely a comfortable living room, for the parents or caregivers to sit and wait.

*** Travel Equipment ***
If I go to the students house, they must have a piano, or keyboard. I can bring books of music.

*** Specialties ***
I can teach any style of singing! I majored in Musical Theater, but I sing everything. I played piano for 10 years. I have many many years of music theory lessons! I had surgery on my vocal chords, back in 1995, and had 4 years of speech and vocal therapy, so I have lots of experience with that as well. I don't use a specific method with my acting. It depends on what they would want to work on! I have many books of music, and music theory, and piano learning. In terms of learning piano, I would start with scales, and chords, and learning the right hand, then the left.

Acting students will receive instruction customized for their individual needs and skill level, drawing on a variety of techniques, including Linklater (physical and vocal work), Stanislavski, Meisner, and Grotowski, Shurtleff, among others. Students can work privately on audition skills, including monologues and cold reading, as well as scene work, character building and basic principles of acting. The first step to great acting is a free body and voice, allowing full expression of of emotional life of the character!

About Wendy
I am a professional singer, songwriter and actor working in the Chicago area for many years. I have a B.F.A. in Theater/Voice from The University of Kansas and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Arts from Columbia College Chicago. I've been teaching private vocal instruction since 2003: I host the Singer's Salon in Chicago, a unique and supportive venue for singer's to become more comfortable performing before an audience. I also instruct workshops for vocal technique and performance. For 10 years I was the lead singer for The Red Apples, an acoustic/electric roots band that performed an eclectic mix of rock, swing, blues, country and jazz. Within the past year I have re-energized my theater and cabaret career, appearing at Davenport's Cabaret, in a new solo show, as well as productions at Big Noise Theater and Stage 773. I've also completed tw
o short films and started working on my own web series, about my life as a singer/voice teacher. I also have an art song project consisting of original material with composer Jaroslaw Golembiowski. As a singer and actress I have performed with many major theaters in the Chicago area, including Court Theater, Victory Gardens, National Jewish Theater, Bailiwick Theater, and Prop Theater.

*** Lesson Details ***
As a classically trained singer I will instruct you in all aspects of singing technique, from breath control and support to improving your tone, range, flexibility and resonance. I have recently completed training in Somatic Voicework, The LoVetri Method, which has enriched my understanding of the mechanics and health of the voice, as well as applications of technique to CCM or contemporary musical styles of singing.
My familiarity with a variety of musical styles from pop/rock, R&B, and country, to musical theater, lounge and jazz makes me an ideal teacher for those interested in contemporary styles.

I have spent many years developing my own style of singing and instruction. I draw on my experiences and training not only in music, but theater and movement, (Linklater, Alexander Technique, Grotowski) to create a well rounded approach to singing and performing. As an instructor, I am most interested in helping students find their true voice and artistic style. I teach students to find expression through and with a foundation of technique, rather then in spite of it. I also am very interested in helping students deal with the mental/emotional aspects of performance, an all important area so frequently ignored by music teachers. My style is nurturing, yet disciplined, and sprinkled liberally with good-natured humor."

*** Studio Equipment ***
My studio space is fully equipped with a piano, P.A. system with microphones, CD, MP3 player for tracks, and ability to record lessons if the student desires.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Please have a piano (in tune!) or keyboard for use in your in home lessons.

*** Specialties ***
I am classically trained, but I am very adept at teaching music in a wide variety of styles, including most contemporary styles of music including pop/rock, roots, swing, jazz and blues, country, r&b, and of course musical theater and cabaret. My band performs an eclectic mix of originals and covers in the roots rock genre, and I write music as well. I have many years of experience in the theater as an actress, and I coach acting technique and performance. I coach singer/songwriters, and all types of singers, of all ages. I have a workshop that specializes in helping people learn to perform better in front of an audience, and I host the Singer's Salon in Chicago, which is a supportive opportunity to perform regularly! I also coach bands, to improve their vocals, harmonies, etc.

Before my first lesson, I was nervous having no singing experience and not knowing what to expect from lessons.

Wendy, helped me relax and move forward in the process of learning to sing. I also appreciated how she kept me on topic and focused on the task at hand.

My first impression is that she is an intelligent professional and I look forward to my next lesson.

Having grown up in a New York theatrical family, I know one very simple truth - acting is reacting. Whether your goal is to perform improv or gain confidence as a stage actor, I will provide the space for you to gain an understanding of your character's emotional life and apply that understanding to your performance.

I have a Master's degree in Educational Psychology from New Jersey City University. I focus on the psychological aspects of the craft and how best to get to know who you've signed up to become so that you'll be able to portray this person with startling emotional accuracy.

About Samuel
I've been a performing singer-songwriter since 1993. My influences include Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Richie Havens. I've been teaching private lessons since 2011 and I tailor my lessons according to the individual needs of my students. Everyone learns at a different pace and in a different way. My objective is to provide instruction that both challenges as well as respects your rate of progress.

I'm a primarily self-taught musician. Although I impart knowledge of scales (the major and the blues ones specifically) and the theory behind them (both of which I learned from formal instruction) as a central component of my curriculum, the bulk of my knowledge came from listening to and imitating delta blues artists such as Robert Johnson and Mississippi John Hurt both of whom displayed
remarkable intricacies in their art.

We'll begin with the major scale in the key of C (as seen in the video) which you'll hear me indicate as being the white keys on the piano. Afterwards, you'll learn a spiritual and an American standard with just the three major chords comprising that key (C, F, and G7). The key of D will be taught in a very similar manner (a scale and then three chords) before the blues is introduced.

Though you will have learned to play campfire standards in fewer than eight lessons, I'm a believer in imparting the roots of the form and not just its recognizable elements. The blues (particularly the form originating from the Mississippi Delta) is the foundation of ALL American music. Therefore, I consider it essential to the curriculum.

I've always found E to be the most blues-friendly of all the keys. We'll be spending more than twice the amount of time we will have spent in C or D learning multiple progressions and chord formations in E. Afterwards, you'll be introduced to the blues scale and receive the basis for playing lead (solos). You'll learn some rudimentary jazz within this segment of the process as well.

Over the past 20 years I have taken guitar lessons twice. The episodes were separated by 15 years. I was engaged and even intense about learning. Both times ended in frustration and more important, failure. After only 5 lessons with Samuel Bean, I have learned to strum chords in time, learned several scales, 12 bar and 8 bar patterns and a bit of music theory. The result is playing to a level that provides personal satisfaction. I look forward to playing. So for you beginners and frustrated musicians out there, you know who you are, give it a try. I predict success.

I have had known Sam for many years. I am friends with his parents and his sister Emmy, also a very talented musician.
Although I don't live near him, unfortunately, when he visits NYC I make it a point to check in with him and ask for his his advice on my rather limited guitar skills. I always come away from our sessions feeling much better about my playing and can see what an improvement he has made for me. He is very patient and so eager to help, even a beginner like myself. i just wish he lived closer!

For myself as an actor, the benefit of a great coach or director has always been that they've helped me reach places in my work I couldn't have achieved on my own. As a coach myself, I'm most thrilled by those small (or monumental!) breakthroughs that my students and I discover together during the coaching process. The cool thing is that I've found the progress my students make in their craft will often inspire me to new heights in my own. (A bonus to already enriching work)!

If you want to develop new material for upcoming auditions, hone and refresh (or completely change) your monologues, or simply work on the craft of acting, I can help. I work to gear your coaching sessions to the goals you need to achieve, offering an experience created around what you need to work on and want to learn.

With a BFA in Acting and Directing, an MFA in Classical Acting, and over 20 years of professional acting experience in the theatre and on-camera, I can offer tools for your tool belt ...

About Jason
I've been performing roles in the theatre and on-camera for over 25 years. My BFA in Acting and Directing and my MFA in Classical Acting have afforded me a wide variety of tools and skills to employ in the craft of acting. Performing with professional repertory companies like ACT Theatre, Book-It Repertory, Shakespeare Santa Cruz, and the Shakespeare Theatre in DC, I've gained personal knowledge of the art, craft, and business of being a working actor, which I will put to work for you, in a personalized one-on-one coaching session, either online or in person.

Here's how I can help.

SCENE WORK AND MONOLOGUES: Whether it's dusting off and refreshing monologues you've performed more times than you can count, or developing pieces or scenes for the first time for an upcoming stage or on-camera audition, we can break the material down togethe
r, work on the clarity of your choices and active objectives, and access your personal connection to the material so you'll be ready and confident with a one-of-a-kind performance that reflects the strengths you bring to acting and the story you want to tell.

SHAKESPEARE: Perhaps the most daunting of styles for a contemporary actor, we'll get down to the nuts and bolts of some of the most challenging (and rewarding) material. The famous soliloquies are famous for a reason and can certainly be intimidating, and more obscure material can seem thick and inaccessible. We'll chip away at the mystique of Shakespeare by digging in to the text and verse, activating the language with specificity, and cultivating your personal take on well-known characters or lesser known material they might not have seen before.

DIALECTS AND ACCENTS: From English to Irish to Southern American and beyond, a well executed dialect can be the edge you need to land (and play) that meaty role. I use a multipronged approach that involves ear training to develop an authentic sound, text analysis for clarity of sound substitutions (IPA Proficient), and exercises that pare away stilted and unnatural speech to cultivate an authentic sounding voice that will be your own.

VOICEOVER: I've been booking voiceover gigs on TV, radio, and the internet for over 10 years with clients like Microsoft, Liberty Mutual, UW Medicine, Tableau, Reno Toyota, and Golden One State Credit Union. I can offer tips and tricks of the trade, as well as techniques that can take your VO submissions to the next level and help you book these lucrative contracts.

Let's get started!

Hello

About Bernadette
Hello! My name is Bernadette Sayre and I am 26 years old. I recently graduated from Regent University with my Master of Fine Arts in Acting with a Concentration in Directing. I received my B.A. in Psychology from George Mason University which I have found has been a very complimentary degree with acting.

In 2012, I taught an acting/filmmaking class at Prude Ranch Summer Camp in Fort Davis, Texas. In 2013, I taught at a very prestigious filmmaking camp at Imagination Stage in Bethesda, Maryland. I taught the children everything from producing, script writing, acting, camera operating, sound mixing, editing with Final Cut Pro X software, and I was their assistant teacher for their Animation camp as well.

I have interned for three production companies; Mirandum Pictures in Front Royal, Virginia, Michael Copon Studios in Norfolk, Virg
inia and at Parroco Production Group, Inc. in Chesapeake, Virginia. If you are not familiar with Michael Copon Studios, the CEO Michael Copon is best known for his portrayal of the blue power ranger in the early 2000's.

Please feel free to check out my personal pages below:

www.imdb.me/BernadetteSayre
www.facebook.com/BernadetteSayre
www.youtube.com/BernadetteSayre

I have extensive amount of training in film acting. Film acting is my sweet spot, however, aside from it I am trained in improv, stand up, theatre, teleprompter work, hosting, commercials, print modeling, sketch comedy, stage combat, etc.

My teaching style is simple, I will treat each student as an individual. No one person is the same, so therefore, I will hone in on what your goals and expectations are. I will help you achieve those goals and we will find an acting method that best suits you. There are so many different ways to approach auditioning, for example. The most important thing, I feel, is to find what works best for you, expound on that and always work towards bringing your authentic self to the table. That is what will ultimately enrichen your acting career the most and your personal life as well. Acting is one of those tools that you can incorporate into just about anything. I love it and I love what I do so, thank you for checking out my page and I hope to hear from you!

Do you want to start acting, but aren't sure where to start? Have a big college audition coming up? Need some coaching on a role you just got cast in? I will help you build the skills you need to walk into an audition room with confidence and tackle each role with a professional approach. Each lesson will be customized based on the students goals for themselves as an actor. We will explore different techniques and methods that I personally have been studying for over 10 years. Let's get started!

About Nicole
I have been an actor for almost 20 years, and have been teaching acting for 7 years. I have a BA in Theatre from Greensboro College.

My approach to acting is first and foremost, text based. The script is where the work starts. In working with me week to week we will make sure you get to know the peice your working on inside and out. We'll work together to make sure you know exactly why you're saying what you're saying. We will work on using voice and movement techniques to unlock your voice and release tension and allow you freedom when working with your script.

I have taught students of all levels of experience and age groups. I recently ran a 8 week summer drama program for children ages 5-18 in New York. I spent a year in college studying Shakespeare exclusively. I am also trained in the Meisner and Stanislavsky techniques and wil
l teach you how to use the different acting methods to approach roles.

As an actor I do shows around the area and teach classes. I have mentored some students in the area who are preparing for college and professional auditions. I spent three years working with the North Carolina Theatre Conference. That knowledge allows me to better mentor the students when picking the right material for their auditions, wether they be the professional or college auditions.

There's nothing like watching one of your students succeed in an audition or a role you spent time watching them work so hard on. I can't wait to create a unique program that works for you, and all of your theatre needs!
