After 40 years without lessons, I decided I wanted to be able to enjoy my piano. Lillian is the perfect teacher for me. A gentle nudge, lots of praise, I can see progress is being made. I certainly leave my lessons with a smile on my face and playing pieces I never thought I could master.

Piano - I teach beginning through lower advanced piano. It is important that each student enjoys what they play while developing a firm understanding of the technique for the instrument. Each student will be able to master 3 - 12 major scales within the first six months of playing along with the first 2 - 10 Hanon exercises. Students will also work on various pieces/songs ranging from classical to pop depending on the students interests. I try to cater lessons to the individual learning styles of each student while trying to introduce new and interesting ideas to push the student to the next level. For those that have been playing for a while I will find out where they are on their journey and help guide them from there. For very young children (ages 4 - 5) I encourage parents to take part in their child’s lessons so they can help when their child is practicing at home. It is also important that every student learns how to relax while playing along with forming good practice habits. ...

About Brandon
Brandon has been surrounded by music since a young age, having both parents as musicians. Brandon began his musical carrier playing the trumpet eventually branching out to piano, a little violin, composing, and conducting. He attended the University of Central Florida where he received a BA and MA in composition and conducting respectively.

While in Orlando, Brandon worked as a part of the A Gift for Music program teaching beginning violin to inner-city elementary school children. He was also the conductor of the A Gift for Music Core Orchestra, a group of very talented young string students. Brandon was also the Brass Instructor for a local Jr./Sr. High School where he taught trumpet lessons, coached brass ensembles, and accompanied students on the piano. On top of this Brandon also had a small studio in the area.

Currently Bran
don is a graduate student at the University of Texas in Austin where he is studying composition.

*** Lesson Details ***
As a teacher I find the most important thing is to make sure the student has fun making music. I realize that everyone is different and I try to cater to the needs of the individual while still making sure that there is advancement in technique and musicianship. It is also a goal of mine to make sure that every students learns to practice without having someone ask them to do it.

I believe it is important to have a strong foundation when playing music. If that foundation is there it is easier to have fun making music and far less likely for a student to fail. For beginners I generally start with basic technique and gradually shift into playing pieces. If a student has been playing for a while, I will find out where they are in their musical journey and take it from there. I also try to focus on developing musicianship and individuality. I can not stress how important it is to not only have fun but to practice. It takes a great deal of dedication and effort to become a good musician.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can provide some music and small things like the occasional rosin or valve oil. I can also help students find rental venues for instruments. I would expect the students to have their own instrument/s and material to properly take care of the instrument. I would also expect them to keep the music we are currently working on with them.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical music though I can teach popular music and basic improvisation. I try to focus on expression and technique with students.

Brandon is by far the best piano teacher I've ever had in my 7-ish years of instruction. He truly cares about your advancement as a student, and goes above and beyond to ensure that you are learning AND having fun. Just within my first lesson with Brandon, he helped me to identify quite a few bad playing habits I had no idea I had developed over the years. He's astoundingly observant and perceptive, and is helping me to improve my posture, my reading skills, etc. Habbits are difficult to break, and I really appreciate his patience and constructive criticism, and that he challenges me to take difficult yet important steps to improve. In the past, I would learn one piece each week with an instructor, then move on without taking the time to perfect it. Brandon will take the time to show you how to TRULY master a piece, even if it takes 5 lessons. I cannot convey how valuable such an experience has been to my own progression. He's also very fun to talk to and makes you feel comfortable and at ease. BEST PIANO TEACHER EVER - HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR ALL AGES

At my studio, my students are encouraged to learn some songs by ear, as well as be creative by making up their own songs.

Each lesson will have you playing what you practiced during the week before. And each lesson will also have you learn something to take home to perfect.

But most of all, I would hope you would leave with a sense of well-being, confidence and encouragement in the wonderful experience of making music on the piano.

I love for my students to perform as much as possible. We play in nursing homes, a local bank at Christmas time and recitals. If a student comes up with a performance venue, we will certainly try to do it.

About Sue
I have been teaching for years with all ages of students. Piano lessons will include learning to read notes, ear training, theory and technique, creating your own music and learning to play the piano with others. The curriculum varies with individual needs. My philosophy is a little laid back but firm in keeping to the basics of music theory.

I can't wait to help you learn to play the piano!

About Darrell
Why these lessons are different:
- Formally trained conductor/composer/producer
- Individual or group session options including full band production
- A long roster of satisfied clients
- Broad base of musical styles (rock, classical, jazz, blues, metal, bluegrass, theater, big band, symphonic, pop, punk, country, march, gospel, avant-garde...)
- Over 20 yrs teaching experience and work with recognized professionals including work in some of the top-rated private schools in the United States

Instrument-specific instruction:
- Voice
- Guitar [Spanish, acoustic, electric]
- Electric Bass
- Piano/Keyboard
- Woodwinds [specializing in saxophones]
- Percussion
- Brass & Bowed Strings [performance preparation only]

My process is based on (but does not adhere strictly to) the Classical approach to Western tonal har
mony, shares the basic tenets of the Suzuki method, and asks that the students develop certain fundamentals of technique and theory. In my experience, this structure creates the strongest foundation for pupils to build the rest of their musical lives on, whether professionally or solely for personal enjoyment. All of my students are on the fast track to studying music theory. Whatever level they are at when I start with them, I guide their efforts into bringing the students up to a certain level of comprehension regarding the mathematical aspects of music and how it relates to their instruments. This understanding of theoretical principles of sound allows the students to play any style of music they wish, no matter how their tastes may change throughout their lives.

Li-wen is a very good piano instructor. She explained the concepts and techniques clearly and gave me bunch of proven-advice to improve my piano techniques. Furthermore, she also taught me the musicality aspects of a piece so I can play it correctly and put an emotion on it. On top of that, she definitely helped me to build my piano skills from scratch in less than a year, so now i am able to play some classical music pieces (and a jazz piece as well) including Beethoven's, Clementi's, as well as Chopin's.

I have no doubt about her mastery of piano and believe that she is already a concert-level pianist. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to find an awesome piano instructor. Don't miss her before she is being busy with her piano recitals around the world!! :)
