I have been playing flute for over 20 years! I work with student interest to develop technique, musicality and continued engagement. Each lesson is tailored to fit the needs of the student. I have experience working with students of all ages and abilities including special needs.

Music is a universal language, and it is for everyone.
I believe in a fun and safe learning environment, and my goal as a teacher is to have the student leave the lesson feeling inspired, encouraged, and connected. I was touched by music at a young age, and it remains to be the most amazing, and the most positive force in my life, and it's been truly rewarding to be able to share this magic with aspiring musicians.
Throughout the years, I helped many of my students develop a strong bond with music. Many of them have succeeded in school ensembles and became award winning soloists.
Upon graduating from high school, some have moved on to pursue music in college and beyond, while some of them continue to enjoy playing as a hobby : )

The flute is an amazing instrument! The flute has a beautiful shimmery sound. I am so excited to teach you more about the flute! I am an interactive teacher who can assist you in many ways in regards to learning how to play the flute including; correct posture, new breathing techniques, correct fingerings, alternative fingerings, improved sight-reading skills, greater music theory knowledge, and performance skills. I recommend using the Essential Elements for Band book series. Once we connect and I can find out more about your playing level we can find the perfect book for your. I can't wait to work with you :)

I base the lessons on what my students want to learn and are interested in. I let my students chose the songs that they want to learn from the books I suggest they purchase. I want my students to have fun while learning to play the flute and learning to read music.

Strong instrumental playing begins with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of music and the simple act of making a sound from the instrument. Students learn to play music by ear first, and are later introduced to music notation. More advanced lessons emphasize sight-reading, expression, and improvisation.

A woodwind player since age 10, Thomas has experience as a performer and teacher. His previous education has included methodology classes on teaching specific instruments, and he is available to teach beginning flute lessons.
