A graduate from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, Cindy is a passionate harp teacher and performer who loves to interact with students. She has taught students in all levels in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Cindy first started harp with her grandmother, a well-known harpist in China, at their home in Beijing. Since she was young, she was greatly influenced by watching her grandmother teach at home. Cindy believes in giving young harpists a well-rounded music education, and she focuses on technique and musicality through her teaching.

In general, Great experience with Cindy! She is the best harpist and great instructor!
I feel lucky that I find Cindy on TakeLessons as first harp teacher, she really knows how to level you up based on your situation, no matter how much knowledge you know about harp or music and what kind of equipment you have at home, she will totally work things out with you. Don’t worry about the remote classroom when learning an instrument, Cindy can change your mind and make lessons functional and fun. Already looking forward to my next lesson this weekend. :)

I have been playing viola for 20+ years and I adore the sound and feel of the instrument. Playing viola has some unique challenges that make it just a bit more special than some of the other string instruments. I like tailor my lessons to the needs of each student. I like to focus on literature written specifically for the viola with some violin transcriptions. I strive to develop good musicianship, understanding of basic theory and good technique in both hands.

About Melissa

I began playing violin at age 10 after years of singing in children's choirs. I continued my musical journey at Sam Houston State University where I earned a Bachelors degree in Music and my Texas All Level Music teaching certification. I was a middle school orchestra director for 17 years. During

I have been teaching this subject for over 16 years. The main curriculum for beginners is Alfred's Basic Piano Library. There are three beginner levels (beginner, late, adult) and one will be selected after the first meeting. For non-beginning students, the course of study will be developed based on past experience, current abilities, and goals. It is not necessary to know how to read music at the first lesson for beginners. However, learning to read is a part of subsequent lessons. Music is not learned "by ear." A certain amount of theory will be a part of every lesson just as technique and repertoire. Students should come to the first lesson prepared to discuss their background & goals and the plan of their course of study.

About Troy

Composer Troy W. graduated from the New England Conservatory, earning his Bachelors, Masters (cum laude) and Graduate Diploma while studying with mentor Malcolm Peyton. "Music is such a huge part of my world, and after touring many years ( 15+) I landed here at age of 32 writing a review which I would only do and only will do if i feel its something I need to share. Stephanie has shown me a world that I hadn't had many footprints on before I reached out to her for voice lessons. Talented is an understatement, her approach to teaching voice is incredible, the ability to adapt to each person, describe and demonstrate. Not to mention her patience ( dealing with me ) in a way that has finally made sense giving my last attempt to really give it my all to learn how to share my soul not only through guitar but now the VOICE..
Some amazing singers may not teach, some amazing teachers may not sing Stephanie you have a god given talent to do both.... stay in your magic!"

He is very hard working and encouraging and he greatly improved my piano skills. He kept classes interesting and I really appreciate that he gave freedom when it came to what pieces I learned. I would definitely choose Nikita as a teacher again!"

""I love practicing and playing guitar, dad"

That's what my 8 1/2 year old daughter says to me while practicing and after she has finished her lessons with Jason. I couldn't be happier with the lessons he is providing her and her sentiment speaks for itself. That’s all I need. If she’s happy, I'm happy. I see her learning, improving, and having fun after every 30-min lesson. She also wants to practice!!!

Jason has a very easy-going style that connects with my daughter #and many others judging by the other reviews, which I read before selecting Jason# so I would 100% recommend him to anyone searching this site for a qualified guitar teacher for their child or themselves."
