I have a BFA in Musical Theater with a minor in piano from the University of Oklahoma. I also became a certified Montessori preschool teacher while living in NYC. I have performed in some great places such as Hershey PA, aboard the MS Maasdam cruise ship, Seoul South Korea, traveling tours and of course, good old NYC! I had the great fortune to be in the original cast of SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK LIVE! on Broadway as well as many other Off Broadway musicals such as the It Girl. Here in Dallas I perform in plays and musicals on a regular basis and I love it!! What gets me excited now is teaching kids, teens and people of all ages to sing or play the piano! I teach in several schools to groups of children and I just love teaching privately!

I have a Masters degree in Acting from the acclaimed Actors Studio Drama School in Manhattan, so I am well versed in most every acting technique; including Stanislavski, Strasberg, Meisner, Chekov, Hagen, Stella Adler, and beyond. He literally gestated the original SNL yet openly referred to our group as "the best group of improvisational actors I've ever worked with in my entire career!" I still can't get over that one and probably never will. I also studied with Dave Razowsky, Michael Gellman, Jeffrey Sweet, Carol Fox Prescott, Wenndy Mackenzie, Terry Schreiber, Barbara Niven, John Strawbridge, and others. I found myself on many a stage out there while acting in films, etc., as well. Along the way I've also directed, produced, and cast feature films and shows, and of course taught. SO, let's get you on the track to real learning and growth. Also, as I put together other workshops and conferences with other teacher associates of mine - expert, renown actors and teachers from New York, Hollywood, and elsewhere - I'll keep you posted so you can not just go to but live in the next level. I look forward to it.
**NOTE: I'm now bi-coastal, dividing my time primarily between Los Angeles, CA and Baltimore, MD, but am also often in NYC and DC. As a relatively young actor, earning his degree from a professional acting program, I know I have a new and fresh take on training young actors. I’m fully prepared to make this extremely hard craft fun and appropriately challenging. I can assure that they will actually be making large strides in their approach to the work, finding out what works best for them.

My name is Jamal, I’m a current acting student at The Conservatory of Theater Arts @ SUNY Purchase in New York. I received my high school diploma from Booker T. Washington HS for the Performing and Visual Arts in Dallas, TX. Beginning actors will have a great time with me, learning about breaking down scripts, arguably the most important work of any actor looking to be taken seriously, voice work, speech, monologue workshops, and much more. I have experience teaching children through Shakespeare Dallas and am able to adjust training in that respect, still allowing the student to be mentally stretched and challenged.
