Jillian V.

Harrison, NY

About Jillian

I have a Master's degree in Music Therapy, am a nationally board certified music therapist (MT-BC); performer and vocal instructor (Bachelor's in Classical Voice); certified yoga instructor and meditation guide (200+); certified and attuned Reiki master; professional freelance writer and editor.

...I find joy in a lot of places! And often I find these areas of study inform and augment each other.

Music therapy has afforded me a great deal of experience working with children, teens, and adults with special needs including, autism, Down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, emotional disturbances a
nd developmental delays as well as teens and adults with psychosocial issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, grief, ADHD, personality disorders, and more.

I incorporate my experience as a therapist into the educative setting.

As a voice teacher, I want to help my students settle comfortably into their own musicality by showing them the building blocks of a solid technique, drawing particularly from the things that helped me grow as a vocalist. I want my students to feel strong in their body, comfortable and relaxed in their breath, and confident in their performance.

I have worked professionally as an editor of scholarly writing on both the college and post-college level, as well as a professional editor of multiple dissertations, and other publications. Being a creative person, I find language to be a wonderful way to express thoughts and emotions as well as communicate deeply with others.

As a certified yoga instructor, I teach in many locations throughout Westchester. I was trained at Yoga Haven in Scarsdale, New York with Betsy Kase, and earned a 200-hour certificate in Asana, Pranayama, and Meditation. I offer private yoga instruction and meditation at my home studio. My studio comes fully equipped with all yoga props, aromatherapy, and music. Hands-on-assists and personalized classes offered to deepen your experience.

It is a joy to offer Reiki to curious, open clients in need of energy healing. Reiki is a noninvasive energy healing technique totally separate of any religious affiliation and available to anyone. It is a difficult to describe the relaxing, soothing, and deep-healing effects of Reiki to someone who has never experienced.

Please feel free to inquire about any of my services!

*Note: If you don't see a time slot that is suitable to your needs but would like to try a session or lesson with me, feel free to register for the Flex Plan, and we will work out week-to-week times!!**

**Note: If you are interested in music therapy, please email me with a bit about yourself and your personal goals.

Alex P.

Merrick, NY

About Alex

I have been teaching private lessons since 2001 and I am currently available to teach lessons online or in my office. As a professor , I have helped students in a number of computer science and math oriented areas including standardizes tests, as well as helping them have the confidence to overcome struggles with difficult subjects.

I believe that learning should be fun and engaging, and that no one perfect method exists to teach all students. During our lessons I try to take note of whats working and whats not, and when I find types of examples that work, I keep using them to help you acc
elerate your learning .

Where to start. Alex is a just a great all around person. He makes learning fun. As long as you put in the time and effort he will guide you through to where you need to be. Never a dull moment, as his lessons bring out the best in you. I would highly recommend going to him, as his style is very different than other tutors or professors. He encourages you to engage in what you are studying; to be proactive and animated, which ultimately leads to results, while having fun in the process. His style is the way learning in general should be. His techniques will train you to remain calm in the face of adversity. You will not regret going to Alex. Again, as long as you put in the time, he will help you get the results you want.

Alex is a very good teacher. He managed to make things simple and was fun. He was even understanding when the Takelessons website made things difficult.

Tori S.

Cos Cob, CT

About Tori

I am a certified tutor with the National Tutoring Association. I am a student at Sarah Lawrence College where I study writing and psychology. I excel at math and English. I helped teach my AP Statistics course. During high school I tutored fellow students in various levels of math from Algebra 1 & 2 through AP Statistics.
I also helped fellow students with writing and grammar. I was the editor of my high school literary magazine and helped students with editing. I also did a day of service in high school where I helped 1st graders with their arithmetic worksheets.
I also have experience tut
oring elementary students in reading, reading fluency, and writing.
As a tutor, I tailor the techniques I use to the individual being tutored. People learn differently; it is important to use the particular student's strengths to help them understand and work through whatever they are struggling with. I am extremely patient and try my best to motivate my students and help them stay confident in their ability to work through anything!
I would like to tutor students in the areas of Greenwich, Old Greenwich, Cos Cob, Glenvillle, Riverside, Stamford, Rye, etc.

Christina T.

White Plains, NY

About Christina

Hi there. I've been teaching/tutoring college-level physics for 7 years. I have loved helping my students overcome their "fear" in physics and start having fun with it. Student's "aha" moment was my best reward! I have a PhD degree in physics from BU. I was an assistant professor before moving to tri-state area just a month ago.

I'm an easy-going person with great patience. My goal is to help students not only pass the test, but also have fun with physics as much as I do. I look forward to meeting you!
