Warinya R.

San Francisco, CA

About Warinya

Hello!
I am a recent graduate from University of California, Berkeley, majoring in Legal Studies and Political Economy minor. Teaching has always been my favorite thing to do! It feels great to share knowledge, techniques and skills on a particular subject and even better when the students can use it for their school and/or career advancement.
I started teaching in 2008 in Bangkok, Thailand. My first job was an English tutor for Thai students (part time) while attending the final year of high school. After I have moved to the US, whenever I have time, I always accept teaching jobs, mostly r
eferrals from my friends or friend of friends.

Mary P.

San Francisco, CA

About Mary

I have been a Reading Specialist since 1970. Since that time, I have written several books on how to avoid and solve reading problems. My first book, "At Last! A Reading Method for EVERY Child!" was the Main Selection on 3 of Macmillan Book Clubs: Early Learning Book Club, Teachers Book Club, and Library of Special Education Book Club. It is my greatest joy to teach children to read - especially those with reading problems and being able to share with them the excitement of succeeding. Over the years, I have acquired a sizable file of motivating reinforcement activities which make learning fun
and keep the students coming back for more. In 2005-2006, I was honored by inclusion in "Who's Who Among American Teachers." I also love teaching Primary Math - the easy way. As a senior, I feel I have a special rapport with students - a gentle, seasoned approach that puts them at ease with the confidence that they are in very capable hands.

I am pleased to recommend Mary to parents who are looking for special help in reading for their children. Mary is an excellent teacher and gives her students a very positive learning experience. I taught with Mary for several years and always found her excited about taking on new challenges with students. She once took three siblings from Norway, who spoke very little English, and gave them the tools to speak, read, and write in very little time. She is amazing!

Michael M.

Rohnert Park, CA

About Michael

Hello! My name is Michael McClean. I have been teaching independently for many years, beginning in high school as a tutor in Math and Sciences while studying on through AP Spanish and Calculus at Folsom High. I spent a year after this in an internship at my church, running the Middle School youth ministry. Into college I began work as a music instructor, studying music education for all woodwind and percussion instruments and teaching in both group and private settings. I also spent a year studying German and musical pedagogy in southern Germany. I have a B.A. In Music and minor in German Lang
uage from Sonoma State University. My girlfriend and I have been together since high school (nearly 10 years now) and are new to the San Mateo area, following an opportunity for her in the thriving Tech industry here. We have two cats and love meeting new people, playing board games and going on adventures. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions - my goal in teaching to ensure that a concept is not only memorized, but understood to its core for easy replication and application. I look forward to working with you!

My boys loved having Mike as their piano teacher. He is very dedicated and easy to work with, really great at teaching based on each kid's level and personal style. After more than 5 years working with him, they were so bummed when Mike moved out of the area and could not continue.

Michael is a fine instructor. He is on time, professional, and enthusiastic, which are great qualities if you are looking to learn music in your own home. I am glad my son had the chance to be his student last year.

Mike taught piano with Move Over Mozart for 7 years and during this time I saw him grow as both a skilled teacher and friend. During this time he worked closely with hundreds of students imparting his love of music. Mike provided careful individual attention to each student while managing group sessions. There was always a balance of empathy and expertise in evaluating individual needs and customizing the lessons while guiding students of all learning styles, temperaments and ages.
Mike is an excellent educator and I highly recommend taking lessons with him.
