Zaky N.

Independence, KY

About Zaky

Hi, my name is Zak! Music is a beautiful thing. It has the so much power. It can be used to send a message, move and inspire people. Music can impact emotions, it is a beautiful and powerful thing!

Music, and teaching have always been a big passion in my life. The ability to take knowledge of a subject that you have, and show, share, and shape someone and pass on that knowledge to them. It is an amazing feeling. I am a passionate, and caring instructor. My teaching style is encouraging, motivating, and educational. I fully believe that you can do anything you set your mind to, and I use that by showing my students that I believe in them.

I use a curriculum that was taught to me, and has been used in schools and universities. This curriculum fits all age groups and skill levels. Starting with Rock, moving to Funk, ending with Jazz. When drumming playing with music, learning improvisation, and playing by ear is important. I also focus on this, having students learn their favorite songs, and learn to play with new music as well. This keeps students interested, and adds a fun personal element to their lessons. I also have implemented use of a teaching app, so while practicing if students have a question they can ask me right then so to not forget, and I can give feedback. It also has a practice tracker tool. If you have any questions feel free to email me.

I look forward to meeting you, and helping you reach your music goals!

My son is 10 years old and has zero experience with music but wanted to give drumming a try. Zaky was perfect- encouraging, fun, and friendly. Zaky is a clear teacher who stealthily sneaks in terms and concepts while the kids are hands on. I'd absolutely recommend him for any age student!

Kate U.

Mason, OH

About Kate

I started teaching piano lessons privately while I was a student at the University of Texas. My students range from 5 to 14 years old, introductory to intermediate playing levels.

I have an extensi
ve background in music theory including classical piano training, contemporary guitar, years of choir, and personal voice coaching.

I have a special ability to work with young and inexperienced students. I am the perfect teacher for a student that is just being introduced to the world of piano. I am also a great teacher for those students who have a light background but are just starting to be re-introduced to the piano.

We've only had one lesson, and already love Kate. She took the time to listen to Annabel and then catered the lesson straight to her needs and personality. Thanks!

B.J. J.

Cincinnati, OH

About B.J.

I hold an MBA in Music Management from the William Paterson University of New Jersey and a BA in Jazz Studies from the University of Louisville, School of Music. I began teaching music directly out of
high school with helping out at area marching band camps. I like to encourage my students to develop not only a competency for their instruments, but more importantly a lifelong passion and appreciation for the arts. I've found that each student has varying levels, needs and desires to their individual approach to learning. I emphasize and encourage my students to celebrate the small wins along their own personal journey in the music.

I was playing sax for 25-30 years, self taught and had maybe a couple months of formal lessons in total. I was in my mid 40's and a friend introduced me to B.J I started bari sax lessons with him and loved it. I was finally learning the right way. When your doing somethng wrong for 25-30 years, it's hard to correct and break old habits.. B.J. had a tremendous amount of patience with this older student, who was married, three kids and working 60 hours weeks, crazy hours. He was flexible and understanding. Hearing B.J. play inspired me to finally start those lessons. Some players can play but are not as adept at teaching someone else what they know. That is certainly NOT the case with B.J. I know I improved musically and thank him for that!

BJ is very professional, patient and "in tune" with different learning styles of individuals and finds creative ways to approach the many aspects of music.
I highly recommend Mr. Jansen, for all levels of performance and music theory.
