Christian R.

Tulsa, OK

About Christian

Music is my passion. I've been playing music since I was a child but didn't get serious with it until I was 14, that's when I got my first electric guitar. So, from then on I've been playing and studying music for over 16 years. I play and teach guitar, piano, drums, and bass guitar. Aside from taking years of private lessons with a number of teachers I also studied music and audio engineering in college. I'm constantly learning more. I keep my chops up by practicing and reading books by other professionals and songwriters. So, I have an arsenal of books and musical knowledge. When I'm not tea
ching I spend most of my time writing and recording my original solo music. I have a rock band that I've been playing with for over a decade. We are currently in the studio recording our first professional album.

*** Lesson Details ***
I'm a very patient teacher. I understand that not everyone learns the same way so I specialize in breaking things down and making music as simple as it can be for each kind of student. I don't use just one method, I pull from my arsenal of acquired knowledge, books, and my own studies. I keep lessons fun and interesting. A normal lesson with me would consist of two parts the first 30 minutes we would focus on learning and practicing warm ups, exercises, licks, notes, scales, chords, arpeggios, timing, rudiments, dynamics, ear training, theory, technique, etc. And the second half we would work on a song or jam together. Depending on the age and level of student, after spending six months studying with me you will be a rock star! LOL. Well, you may not have a recording contract, but you will have gained a volume of knowledge and taken your playing up a few levels. It's all about how much time and practice you put in and how much you want it. Every student has there own pace and desire so I do my part to help them become the best that they want to be.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Home Studio: drum set, practice pad, piano and keyboard, guitar amps, chairs, parents can sit in on lesson.

Broken Arrow Music Studio: drum set, guitar amp, piano, and lobby room for parents.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in working with beginner to advanced level students. I teach all styles of music.

Home studios are not always the best atmosphere.

I have learned more from Christian in 3 lessons than I did from my previous instuctor in a year. Christian is very focused and seems committed to the task at hand.He keeps it fun and interesting and at the same time challenging.

Good Piano Teacher

He is very patient, working at the level of the student. He is considerate and not pushy but gives encouragement on any effort shown. He does not merely teach songs. I appreciate his background and understanding of music theory which is the foundation for any good teacher. He does very well in sharing that understanding, even to a young person. I definitely recommend him.

What an amazing experience!!!!

I have been taking lessons from Ms. Peterson for two years now and my voice has dramatically improved. Others who know me and hear me now perform express the remarkable difference in my vocal ability and skill. Now it’s no joke. You work hard but the payoff is so worth it! From pitch to tonality, to music theory and performance techniques – she trains you on all these skills but in a way that builds you up and gives you courage! After two years I still won’t stop. I still have so much more to learn. Thank you Ms. Peterson!!!!

Lora N.

Tulsa, OK

About Lora

I really believe in making music fun, simple, and easy to learn and play. Music is the window into the soul, and it can ease a lot of stress, pain, fears, and worries. I want to help others learn to love and enjoy music the way I have over my 15 years of experience. I want to get to know my students closely, the way I received my piano training. Playing the saxophone and piano helped me get through a very difficult period in my life, and I hope to be able to help my students through whatever hardships they may have, through music.

*** Lesson Details ***
I like to let the student set the pa
ce. What we go over each week will depend on what, and how much the student has practiced the week before, and their comprehension of the assignments given. I use the Bastian Lesson books, published by KJOS. They are very user friendly, and have courses geared toward younger and older students. I will hold students responsible for practicing their instruments, and within several months hope for them to know how to read music, have a basic music theory knowledge, and be able to play several basic pieces without trouble.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students should provide instruments and books after first 2 weeks. If piano student, they should provide the piano from the first week. I will provide books and instrument (if saxophone student) when the student is unable to afford or procure them

*** Specialties ***
Classical, Jazz

Lora is fantastic! She is always on time for practice and very understanding of rescheduling needs as they arise. In-home lessons are best decision I ever made! So much easier than having to rush my kids around town to their various activities. My 9 year old daughter, Rhyann, adores her and can’t wait to practice on the piano each day after school just so she can impress her teacher each week!
